Describe worst case 3.0 scenario.

This question isn't meant to be serious but more for fun and to temper our expectations. I believe worst case scenario: no beast units, all new banners feature almost exclusively alts of characters already in the game, especially those already with alts, armor units galore, much much more powercreep, the announcement of no cyl3 but instead brave heroes and brave redux heroes chosen by IS, and no units getting demoted, not even mist. What's the worst you can come up with?

They make 6 star heroes without a way to promote up, or they make 6 star heroes where you lose any merges when promoting, and without giving us a way to un-merge our 5+10's so we can individually promote and merge, or however it goes. So that one unit you love that you whaled for is tossed under the bus, without any remedy or recourse.

1. I commented about two months ago that IS is setting the game up in such a way that player skill doesn't matter nearly as much as spending or longevity (both of which increase number of lifetime orbs on the account), making clear that their priorities were money first, good game last. Aether raids showed me that there was probably more to them than that. Anything in 3.0 that reverts back to their former ways I would consider worst case scenario.
2. Aether raids now features bonus unit kill lift bonuses
3. Aether raids now scores using arena mechanisms, especially merges
4. Some powercreep as stupid as bold fighter or Veronica
5. Generally, anything that turns the game mainly into a grindfest. I consider it bad enough that HM farming is a thing. Some people want a grindfest; I don't believe it's good for us as people.
6. Delayed until February 2019
7. Another Camilla alt as bad as the rabbit

Lyn I find pretty acceptable as a character, just that she's getting so many versions when so many desired characters have yet to come

Report

Lyn feels like the character that a lot of people liked so they started milking her after the fact, same with Lucina. Meanwhile Camilla seemed like a cringy attempt to purposely make a character to milk.

I'm not a big fan of Lyn or Lucina, but I also don't mind them. But maybe I'm slightly biased cause Camilla has always seemed cringy to me therefore I've never cared for her character ever.

Report

I'm not denying the popularity of the character, more that to me her character seemed particularly made just to market and milk her. Like when they designed her that seemed like their mentality. In contrast to say Lyn and Lucina, who more seem like they've been milked after they realized they were popular with the fanbase.

I find the first statement kinda weird. Isn't AR the game mode that punishes new players the most and rewards old players the best?

Someone starting the game now is not only behind in useful units to couter AR defenses, but also thousands of lift (and stones) behind other players. Right now, there is nothing in the game that would suggest he could ever close that gap, unlike arena.

Report

I agree with you mostly and I find it disturbing. If fortress levels go up infinitely, I don't see how later-joining players can beat top 200 players.

The one potential redeeming factor is that merges are mostly unnecessary. In arena, without feather grinding or heavy spending, probably 8-10 months before you have three +10 units.

For AR, spend your first 100 grails on infantry pulse, forge the QP seal, put Lilina and Ophelia on a team with a mage dancer and B.Lyn or Veronica. You have a defense team that will claim casualties even in 5600+ lift, especially as the mode ages.

If you want to be extreme, pick B.Celica as your free CYL2 so you have a galeforcer. Neutral Cecilia (free unit) with TA and bowbreaker will deal with Reinhardt and B.Lyn long enough to build something like triple DD Rebecca or Oliver or a solid Fae. A raiding party complex for a new player might be something like Eirika + Nino + dancer + healer if you don't have desperation fodder yet, Fjorm + Cecilia + dancer + B.Celica, some cavalry team, and I think that's probably good up to something like T13-14, by which time you can start expanding the roster.

And it should be mentioned that this "starter's disadvantage" is a problem of this game in general. I'm not convinced AR is worse than other pseudo-PvP modes in this regard.

Well, I'd be pretty dissapointed if they make light and dark legendary heroes a big deal, since it's really just an extention of the system

No Mass Demotion. That's My Desire(Demotion),But Not Because I Got Pitybreaked,Just Because I Love Collectioning.

Report

Mass demotion happening would be the worst case scenario. It would mean not only that all the orbs and money I invested when old units made a comback this year went to waste, but also that IS has no clue about what to do with the summoning system. I much rather they explore other banner types like the recent 2-man ones or the old 3-4* ones instead.

Summoning is the main reason I play this game. Getting those hard to obtain units it's what excites me. Demote them and summoning becomes boring and stale for me.

Report

Huh, how curious. I would never have guessed that someone so good at evaluating game modes as you would be principally a collector. Not that I think collectors are second-rate players, but I would be surprised at them taking flaws in game modes as seriously as I do, who am more competitive.

Report

Yeap, that would be me. A collector first, a player second. That's not to say I don't enjoy the gameplay; on the contrary, I enjoy it very much. But without units to hunt down, I would feel less motivated to play.
