Dependability of Ardent Sacrifice and Reciprocal Aid

Can I hear from people who use AS on units that can't survive a single counterattack (ex: Linde/Delthea) or who use reciprocal aid to get into brash desperation range on units other than sword Lyn?

Are these any less consistent than Micaiah's sacrifice for reaching the required HP thresholds?

How about for brazens on non-wary fighter units who could survive one attack? Do you ever get into trouble failing to one-round somebody and leaving them in vantage/desperation/wings of mercy range? I feel like units like these should be doing other things with their assists than throwing away their HP.

Thanks for bearing with the multi-question

I used to run Ardent Sacrifice on glass cannon units like Linde and Hana, but I found that an positioning assist skill like Reposition and Draw Back to be much more consistent.

As for the Brazen skill, I currently run the Atk/Spd on on my supermerged Hana, and she often has enough Spd to double the enemy units, even when not in Brazen range. Since I have Desperation on her as well, she just kills the enemies most of the time. I don't run the HP assists, and found them quite useless on her.

I think that the best user of Ardent Sacrifice is most definitely Arvis, and the best users of Reciprocal Aid would be your pseudo-healers like the Effect-refined Falchion users with Renewal. It isn't really that great on anyone else.

Seconding this. The problem with Ardent Sacrifice is the time requirement. Someone on your team needs to take damage first which means either the fight has already started or you've given up another support slot to run Reciprocal Aid which is less than ideal if you're running someone that squishy since you want every ability to reposition them you can get.

Generally I prefer to make sure my sweeping units are built to be able to at least take a hit from a unit they have colour advantage against. If they can't, they get shelved in favour of someone who can. If I'm running something squishy that needs desperation to survive, I'll be running fury on it. More bulk, more power and to top it all off pushes the character into the required hp ranges on it's own.

The idea of AS is not pushing all HP away but activating Desperation, Vantage, sometimes Wrath (though rarely) and yes, Brazens safely. (Which is why some players consider 40 Max HP as perfect, it is the highest value which just needs one activation of AS to get under the threshold.)

It's pretty old mechanic but it's still workable for some units. You should keep in mind though, that it takes some of your team's mobility in return. Nonetheless, it's the classic for any setup sweeper.

I inherited Ardent Sacrifice on Nino who, at 37 hp max without a HP boon (and only 40 with), is one of the best users of it to drop her into Desperation range. After playing with it a bit though, it's not been that ideal in Arena.

I don't run a dancer on my arena team, so Nino needs to lose a turn using AS. Added to that, she has to count on my tanks Hardin or W!Tharja to take damage first. Given how far I push their defenses though (and especially with the several defensive tiles on this week's maps) they sometimes take 0 damage from a good bait. If the attacker survives, it's often better for Nino to just nuke it from behind the tank.

What works out much better is for Nino to bait a magic attack. SF!Nino is popular this week, and my Nino can safely bait and kill her to get in Desperation range after 1 encounter. A riskier venture is to go after an enemy Hardin, but sometimes I can kill even him with a bit of HP left on Nino (-def IV). This makes Fury better on her than Life and Death because more often than not she can take one hit.
