Denying follow-ups with Helbindi?

I have two copies of Helbindi, one is +def/-res and the other is +spd/-hp. His speed is terrible even with the boon and it will therefore be better to take the +def IV for a more physical tanking focus.

BUT, I was kind of playing around with an idea of investing in his speed and denying enemy follow-ups thanks to it.

The idea is: +spd IV (21), +4 from his wave buff, +6 in enemy phase from darting stance, which will get him to 31spd. The last piece of the puzzle would be spd ploy, which would allow him to deny quite a large number of natural enemy follow-ups.

Do you think that it's worth investing into or should I just stop dreaming about stupid things and just use a normal build with the +def -res one?

You could use Chill Spd as well to deny the fastest unit on the opposing team from doubling if they have less than 43 speed.

I think it's an interesting idea, but I'm not too sure on how efficient it is. You may just want to tank the second hit with your higher defense instead to accelerate your special (And your opponents unless you run guard).

Yeah, I guess the efficiency of the speed investment is questionable, as it is something that he clearly isn't supposed to be doing. Going for maximum defensive stats is probably going to be the better choice in the end.

as much as I like stacking speed on seemingly slow units, 21 base speed just can't be salvaged without sacrificing a lot of what helbindi can do. you be better off just using things like close or distant defense + quick riposte and something like atk ploy. I kinda think any speed stat below 27 is not worth salvaging

What if you invested the same amount into his def or his res? Would you like the results better?
