Defensive buffers options

I'm building a team with a strong tank and I need someone to buff his def and res.
I'm probably gonna do that by putting next to him a unit with def/res spur, def spur seal and def / res rally.

But I don't want the unit to be just standing there and doing nothing, if possible it'll be nice to have him being able to do other things such as healing, countering a specific type of ennemy, etc...

I was eventually thinking about marth as he can buff with his weapon, eventually heal if I don't give him a rally and can also slay dragons but I would like to hear your options on this :)

hmm it’d help to know who the tank is + the IVs, but VL Ike’s def tactic is great for buffing defense (provided that your team only has two infantry units, ike included). plus his built in DC takes care of a lot of common units no problem.

as for res I’m honestly blanking since I haven’t pulled a good res buffer, I usually end up just using units that can tank mages like innes or klein

Actually there is 2 tanks : Julius for distance, and Lukas for melee.

I'm actually wondering how your klein is supposed to tank mages with 24 res oO

DD9 adds 18 for a total of 42.

oops messed up my phrasing, for klein I meant I have him on a team with a singer when I use him and he takes out mages really easily, not tank them.

are you planning to have Julius and Lukas on the same team or?

Other than marth, And ny units, no one really has has defensive weapons so basically anyone will ultimately do. But might as well go with a green unit to take care of blues that neither ike or julius can.

Maybe try a healer. Someone like Nanna with her native Drive Def and since she's cavalry, she can easily use Def Tactic in her seal for a total of +9 def. Or any of the cavalry healers really, if you prefer Clarine or Priscilla. Not to mention healers get Dazzling Fear+, which is amazing for supporting the team.

I would also suggest Soren or Bridal Ninian with her native Chill Atk, if you have her. Personally I use Soren to support Adult Tiki with his Wind's Brand and similar to your idea, he uses Rally Def/Res & spur def/res. He also covers her bad matchups and can be built to run ploys. Ninian is a bit more passive but she's a dancer which is always valuable.

Marth is probably the only choice,. With Res Tactics from L'Arachel and Def Tactic seal that's 8 DEF/RES to adjacent allies.
Dunno if that 2 all stats makes that much of a difference though, Marth is also not a good unit in his color. So basically any hero with Res/Def Tactics and rally DEF/RES will probably do fine.

Hm maybe i'll check other units than marth.
However I tactics and rally won't cumulate.

This is my planned Lissa, but if you swap out Close counter for Close defence A slot, and add your double spurs in Seal and C, she could work while being decently tanky. Fear with dazzling refine for safe debuffs or Wrathful refine for chip dmg both work.
