+Def / -Res B! Ephraim

I managed to pull a +Def / -Res B! Ephraim and he fares greatly with his base kit, especially since he coups with my armor team consisting of Zelgius and B! Hector. (Thinking of H! Jakob as fourth slot, but could use a healer)

I have a spare +Res / -Spd VL! Hector that I rarely use. Should I inherit Distant Counter for my B! Ephraim? That way he can cover ranged threats?

And does 27 speed get him anywhere? Considering he has a superbane at 23 (that does nothing), I was wondering if he can be at least be slightly speedy enough to mitigate doubles by maybe throwing in a Spd +3 Seal or/and inherit Fury 3.

Though I hear -Spd is optimal, I'd like to know what I can do in building him. Or if I should build him.

Thanks.

B!Ephraim is already a monster with his base kit (double Close Defense) but only at melee range. If you don't use your VL!Hector, then by all means fodder him for DC. B!Ephraim seems pretty good with DC and can tackle blue/green mages but he might need Fortify/Ward Armor support since 23 Res is quite low for an armor. However, Ephraim should have absolutely no problem taking down archers and daggers due to his huge Defense stat (40 with boon, and up to 46 or above with Fortify/Ward armor). Fury doesn't seem very good, since it eventually will cancel out Special Fighter. As for the seal, you're probably better off running Close or Distant Defense.
-Spd is optimal if you don't care about Arena, since the superbane affects how much B!Ephraim scores. Also, a Spd bane could harm his potential to avoid some doubles.
TL;DR: DC is a good option, but requires Fortify/Ward support for peak efficiency. A -Spd bane is optimal if you don't care about Arena scoring. Fury is a horrible option since it conflicts with Special Fighter, and you're better off running Close Defense or Distant Defense seal.
