Dealing with the best units in the game

Since I can't use the same units to deal with the same +10 op units I find in Arena Assault I need some ideas.
The units I've been having problem with are usually armor like W!Tharja and zelgius, with two other random armors, and for now the only solution I got for it is by using a razze dazzle Gravity elise, but I Can only use her once, and at 736~ there are a lot of those same teams. And they are usually mixed phase so dealing with them is horrible.
Also they usually kill one of my units, since I can't have a perfect team every round, and usually the maps I encounter them with are absolute garbage.
What are units that could solo them easily? Bonus points if they aren't Fae, Nowi, or A!Tiki since I start with them.

Sorry, it was unclear for me and I might have given a reply that is for Arena but you were asking for AA.

Well the easiest option is to make dedicated counter for unit you have trouble with and build 4*+10 units. effective against weapons and breaker skills are really good choices.

any unit can be counters, bartre, jagen, barst, anyone really.

I already have some 4+10 like bartre, but it's hard to kill a +10 zelgius with it. And even if It does, there's a H!Henry, or a W! Tharja, or a La!Lyn waiting for killing him, or whatever poor unit I use reposition with if they have bold fighter or are fast.
I used those single counters a lot before hitting High level arena tiers, and against some teams I still do (every green can tank a nowi, for example), but armors man, difficult to deal with.

The advice I've been given on this matter - still just starting to work it out myself - gem weapons, TA, lots of breakers.

Report

Breakers is a good idea since it prevents doubling from bold fighter if the unit is faster, but It only deals with one unit. Sometimes the map needs one of your units to tank some hits from 2 of them, and they really hit hard.

I have difficulty imagining how you would need to tank two armours in one turn. If you have breakers, attack into them, just, everybody in at once.

Otherwise I need more details on a situation in which you need to tank more than one.

I use blue mages,
Rein, Lute, B Caeda, Linde.
With Sword breaker, atk buff or ploys to OHKO them. Another good option is Saias, Oliver, Clair and Est with Heavy lance/spear.

Triangle Adept/Gem weapons are a very strong counter to many of these threats. Even someone like a buffed up Oscar can really put the hurt on Zelgius if you slap Swordbreaker on him along with his gem weapon. Keep in mind though, that with many of the armored units you still need to be careful with what 'Fighter' skill they are using, so having a few different counterpick choices available goes a long way.

For Arena Assault, I used a spreadsheet to create teams that were capable of handling the meta, balancing that by ensuring I had groups that did well in player phase/enemy phase, and equipping less-than-stellar units with abilities that allowed them to get by (like the skills mentioned by others).

Healers are also a huge help, as the 'lower quality' units aren't always able to one round their opponents. Charging specials is important even for the pedestrian units, not just the lol black luna, lol regnal astra, lol aether users out there. I guess my point is - Arena Assault isn't always just the 1-shot fest that we've grown accustomed to in the regular arena setting. It sometimes takes better positioning and multiple rounds of combat.

Lots of good suggestions here. I would just add that Savage Blow is your friend. Unless I have an easy counter, I usually try to save the "problem" meta units for last and let a few rounds of Savage Blow damage accrue to help ensure OHKOs from effective / bold effect weapons and to knock enemies out of the health range of more problematic skills if possible.

Micaiah is definitely a character that can wreck armors. You can run Desperation and Brash Assault to double anyone who can counterattack. You could use Sacrifice to get her to that HP threshold. I'm guessing you aren't sure how to deal with the armors that have something like Steady Breath/Bold Fighter? Also any user of Firesweep with Hit and Run could do some damage, Solei and Cordelia (any Cordelia really though, Regular might have an edge depending on the map due to being a flying unit) with a teammate having Repostion or Draw Back. This is also an effective way of dealing with Dragons, or really anything as long as you can kite them and deal sufficient damage. You could use debuffs to lower their stats and as long as they don't have Harsh Command on their side of things that will help too. Hope all of this helps. Savage Blow/Pain+ is great but only if they don't have Vantage, because then that could do more harm than good.

I built a lot of counter units. Units that are really only good at stopping a few specific builds.

So in all colors a few units with at least 30 def and an Armor Smasher weapon. High Res physical units for mages/dragons. Units with breakers and triangle adept.

Most of my units were built for TT and Arena, to be as powerful as possible but AA was a challenge. Now I have a lot of hard counters and AA is a lot easier.

For W!Tharja a TA Mathilda would stand strong, Micaiah on the current banner is a prebuilt counter for any red mage, but any of the blue dragons with a refined breath would work.

For Zelgius a Heavy Spear Donnel/Oboro/Lukas; my Saber is surprisingly effective against Red and Green armors.
