Dead Iphone problem

So a friend's Iphone recently stopped being able to hold charge, and of course he never thought to link his nintendo account for Fire emblem heroes or pokemon go. Its already dead and can't be charged at all to get it turned on to link it now.

He did mention a warranty and that it would be replaced for five dollars, does anyone know if part of the trade process there would involve his data/sim card/whatever being transferred to the new phone so that it isn't a problem? He was pretty bummed about restarting so I thought I'd do some digging for him in hopes of finding good news.
