Dancer!Micaiah came home, but...

Finally after an Alm and a Fallen Celica, I got Micaiah! But, she’s a Res+/Atk-. Is there any way to build on her?

I mean... Use a bit of imagination. Higher res means a better mage tank and ploy user. Her weapon gives her +3 attack so she's still decent and is still a dancer.

That's still good, you can Give her a ploy skill in her seal so she can ploy enemies so other units will have an easier time to kill.

Side note, Dancer's main focus is to support allies and kill last so
-atk is good for a dancer cause it won't hurt their survivability(but for me it's their best IV) but Dancers don't really care for IVs since they are just gonna dance allies.

As much as I generally agree with that logic, I'd have to say that -atk actually kind of hurts in Micaiah's case, because she has an effective weapon where every single point of attack counts, because it gets multiplied. Sure, her main point is to give her turn to her allies, but -atk kind of makes her most unique trait weaker.

Yeah with the new Dancer's case (especially Micaiah) I do agree that -atk does hurt A LOT(more so than normal). but in micaiah's case with her prf weapon it kinda negates the problem since it has +3 atk which brings her atk up back to neutral.

But still , If they can dance then any IV will work.

I am very much against the idea that an atk seal or a prf bonus like this fixes anything. Without an atk bane she hits 3 points harder whether or not her prf grants +3. If she needed the +3 to function originally, the atk bane destroys her function anyways. It's all part of this ridiculous idea people have that a unit with neutral IVs is perfectly fine and that a bane in an important stat automatically means they're no good or desperately struggling at best. If that were indeed true, then yes you could save a desperate unit by giving them atk+3 for a seal.

The fact is that I think neither you or Guts looked at the numbers. The Micaiah we're looking at has 48 atk before A-skill, which is 72 when effective damage is in play. If you use death blow, you have 54 atk, which scales to 81. Without the bane, we were looking at 51atk scaling to 76 or 57atk scaling to 85. All assuming no atk seal. Against greens, add an extra 9-11 points.

Neutral Zelgius has 46+21 = 67 magical bulk.
Draug and BK have around the same.
W.Tharja has 79, and she'll often increase it.
Zephiel has 79 and might get +6 from his weapon, and he might stack a seal for another +6. He also might merge to +4 for 2 extra HP and 1 extra res.
M.Grima has 85 magical bulk but he's green.
Hectors have 70-75 magical bulk.
Sheena has 83 magical bulk at least.
The winter axes have around 82.
H.Henry, surprisingly, only has 72 magical bulk
H.Jakob has 74.
No cavalier of any colour has more than 70 magical bulk.

What do I conclude? Zephiel and W.Tharja were marginal matchups to begin with, and obviously the bane doesn't help. Zelgius, all of the green armours, and all cavaliers (maybe except blues) were crushed and are still completely crushed. If the atk bane hurts, it's not because effective damage scales very well with every point.

All of you were just throwing generalizations around with no grounding in actual data.
