I’m entirelly sure that if heroes from previous cyl were open to vote, the community would again vote for some of them. You have to keep in mind however that for the fire emblem franchise to become famous it needed a solid start with games that enticed players. So instead of getting a fan service Boobilla, take a look to the earliest titles and heroes, otherwise I am the only person that voted for Nergal and Gharnef.
I remember looking at the women’s rankings for CYL last year, and I was a bit disappointed at how high Tharja and Camilla were.
I’m personally not a huge fan of Nergal and Gharnef, I’d prefer having Ashnard or Sephiran in game since the Tellius games are probably my favorites.

I like the idea someone mentioned lower down in this of not letting people put all their votes on one person, but really nobody is going to listen if you just TELL them not to vote for their favorite. I mean you probably are the only one who voted for them. Nergal's a weirdo that I wouldn't ever vote for, and I gave Merlinus a vote as a joke.
Also who cares about the camilla fans? The fact that previous CYL heroes aren't on here means they're gonna get their umpteenth camilla and then they can't do it again. Its only taking up one slot. I don't like her either and wont be summoning for her if she gets a CYL version, but who cares? Its just one slot, and just one more camilla.

I played sacred stones, and I'm not pleased with the one million Camilla. Gotta agree though Eirika coming back as a non CYL, non seasonal unit is sorta weird. Coming back with a TOME of all things is dumb since she had nothing to do with that in her game, and doesn't boast seasonal skins or alt timeline CYL origins to explain it.
There's a glitch in The Sacred Stones that allowed every unit to use dark magic building up their Weapon Rank, working their way up they can wield the Gleipnir. In the game she promotes to a mounted unit, explaining why she's on a horse.
She only uses swords after her Promotion, so it seems that IS decided to make a reference to that glitch by combining it with her Promotion, having a new mounted Red Tome unit (the only one was Leo) instead of another Sword Cavalier.

I don't know where you're looking, but I see tons of people talk about how they're tired of seeing Camilla. Maybe you're not looking in the right place.
I’m mostly just annoyed at the overwhelming amount of the lords in the top 10. There are so many great characters all through fire emblem and I honestly feel like the protagonists are really lacking in personality (as most rpg protags are, for the most part atleast). So it’s just upsetting to me that so many top ranked units are just protagonists, I loved lucina and ike but even then they weren’t like THE most appealing characters to vote for when units like Jill or whoever were just more interesting an unique
Like yeah, it’s sucks that older game units aren’t gonna get much attention, but I just feel bad for fans of some obscure old units who are gonna have their faves lost under a pile of blue hairs sword infantry lords
It’s not surprising that the Lords are some of the top votes units tho. They’re the main characters, they’re the ones who you experience the whole game with. Other units, while some are important to the plot, it’s up to each player’s decision whether to use them or not.
I think a bigger issue with the voting thing is how you can vote for the same character multiple times. That really throws off the tallies, it also discourages voting for different characters so we can have a variety of picks. I wonder how different the votes would look without being able to vote multiple times for a character.
If a Nintendo account was needed to vote, then I probably wouldn't have voted to be honest. Couldn't be bothered to take the time to make an account to vote since that's really the ONLY reason I'd be making an account in the first place. I'd probably just hope and pray Owain won. xD
Camilla being ridiculously popular among a large subset of the fanbase and almost no one voting for villains are two separate matters. Plenty of older characters are ranking high - Celica, Ephraim, Hector, etc. If a group of fanboys want yet another version of Camilla and an alternate version of Loki...well, thats their prerogative Plenty of us are voting for older heroes. But, as shown in the last CYL, very few people vote for villians. Only Zephiel had a decent ranking last time, IIRC. I've voted for characters like Xane and Lewyn but not a villian yet... I suppose I feel a stronger connection to the recruitable characters
I don't want any more Camillas, however if she does win, I would really hope they make a version of her without her dragon for once. I was actually disappointed when NY!Camilla was revealed and I saw her yet again riding that dragon. They took Xander off his horse for the summer so I feel like this should have happened already, but I don't want a horse Camilla either. An infantry Camilla would be the preferred option in my opinion.
Of course, best-case scenario, Veronica overtakes the others and ends up in second while Celica remains at the top
I voted Malice from New Mystery, and Donnel (shut up I like him) for the first 4 days, now I'm going for Alm after seeing how well his is doing.
The woman's list is ridiculous, though I would like Leavatein to be playable... specifically I just want her sword inheritable.

In any case, I can see where you're coming from, but we just have to face facts. Camilla is most likely gonna have a Brave form, and we're all just gonna have to deal with it. I don't want a new Camilla, so unless she's like a Dragon-Emblem unit or something, and all the other CYL winners have crappy forms, I won't choose her.
She's got big boobs and treats the protagonist like a wanna-be milf, so it's no wonder why a LOT of the community vote for her. Doesn't take much to get someone to vote for you when you're an anime character, have big boobs, and wander around like you're wanting everyone around you to bend you over. :l
