Curiosity and Bad Ideas Afoot....
So, as of a recent conversation, a friend of mine started talking about Awakening, dude's finally playing it for the first time, and he's asking me around about pairings since he doesn't know everything about them. I go explaining the basics to him for each character, all their quirks, their bad sides, so on. And I start to wonder, out of everyone here that's played Awakening, who do you guys pair with your Robin? Cause to be fair, I'm actually quite curious. And to be honest. If you haven't played Awakening. Who would you pair with your summoner?
I think mine's an obvious pick. Olivia. Their supports are nice. Recruitment chapter for Inigo has the pair interacting. And in Fates Inigo mentions something that kind hints at Rob but I'll stay away from things that aren't explicit.

Oh God you have inadvertently started a waifu war.
On a side note, I'm Cordelia and Robin all the way, why? because you gotta feel bad for her and her and robin feels like the only true support where she gets over Chrom (that summer scramble convo is just 10/10). Also I'm a sucker for redheads.

Its trash because, just like reclassing, it removes any semblance of individuality in units, and again, turns units into balls of stats that steamroll everything. It's even worse inf ates because the entirety of the fates games revolves around the concept of pair up, and is balanced around it. It's a bullshit mechanic that couldve been made fine if there were more restrictions on it that made it something other than wearing a character like a backpack for massive stat bonus without any penalty.

While I agree it is far from being the best FE (that title belongs to FE4 and FE2 in second (not echoes)and is by far the most unbalanced FE. Awakening like it or not saved the franchise and brought a bunch of casual gamers into the series. Casual is also the best word to sum up awakening. its got colourful but not too in-depth characters (which is good for a casual player because it allows for more self-insert). Awakening is popular because its easy to understand and have fun playing without having to think strategy (at least on hard). To conclude awakening brought in casuals which honestly tend to be the majority of players and those who keep the series afloat are the casuals.
On a side note to everyone who says awakening is easy, go play lunatic plus. The first 6 missions rely purely on RNG bullshit.

Argumentum ad popularum. Just because something is popular doesn't mean its good, perfect examples of this are socialism, justin bieber, hillary clinton, pork products (excluding bacon), apple products, soda pop.
The My Unit concept is also terrible because it straight up made the entire game revolve around YOU, rather than the characters itself. I hate chrom and just about every other nufe character, but id rather the game just be about them rather than have a My Unit. Casuals ruin everything, this is a fact, look at every other franchise of anything and look at what happens when they casualize things.Communities fall apart as new people that don't care about the franchise come in and wear down everything until situations are glorified coinflips.
>have fun playing without having to think strategy
THIS IS A BAD THING. The entire franchise is about strategy, remove strategy from it and you get a shitty visual novel.
