Crazy... Like a fox?

So I've been lucky on the legendary banner to pull two Halloween Jakobs. One is +atk/-Res, the other +res/-hp. Both are good but not great IVs and each lends itself to a different build.

My plan had been to merge these guys and pick a build; but I kind of feel like I should just build each copy separately the more I think about it. The +1 merge does me no favors and I will not likely be using him in my arena core anytime soon.

Obviously this represents a big investment, but with the extra Takumi coming down the pike, I don't really mind burning my one copy for CC to pair with guard Bow and then I can 5* a single Klein for DB3 and BB+ for the +atk copy.

Is this a wildly stupid idea or clever in the circumstance?

What's the point in investing in 2 of the same unit when you could just put all the skills for both builds on one unit? It's not like you can use two of the same unit in Arena Assault/Squad Assault, or at least I don't think you can.

Because some builds work better with certain IV's than others. For example, I recently promoted a second Camilla (+Res/-Def) to act as a mage killer for my second Flier Emblem team while keeping a +Atk I have as a shock trooper for a theme team I have. I just plug in a different green unit for the other team when I use one or the other in Arena Assault.

Not sure if that's what the OP wants to do, but it could be a reason.

I guess I can see that, but the +Atk Jakob would interfere in the tanking ability thanks to the resistance bane, and the resistance-boon Jakob has an HP bane, which isn't really all that of an interference.

Usually, a decent-IVd unit can fill multiple roles depending on the build. A +Res/-Def Camilla isn't "too" different from a +Atk Camilla unless you're trying to run something like Heavy Blade, so there's that I guess.

Forgot to mention that the second Camilla's bane is Resistance, which accounts for a six point difference between their stats. I really wish IS would make it that you could change a unit's skills between Arena and Arena Assault matches, that way I would be more inclined to use multiple builds on just one unit.

Yes, that's the idea. +atk is an ideal IV for the brave set but it is paired with - Res, which is not ideal for a tank.

If I had a +atk/-spd, I would just merge into it (and that would be the long term plan if other opportunities to pull for him aside). But with two imperfect IVs, I figure build to the strength of each for the time being.
