Confessions of a Resource Hoarder

So I'm currently on 740-ish orbs, 120k feathers, 315 coins, 600+ stones, and 300+ dew, and I'm going to try to delay major decisions until 3.0 comes out

My close def seal is at level 1.
My 5* Ethlyn is not even level 20 because I've used Lewyn in the TT to increase his HM and Ethlyn won't have issue accumulating HM because she's one of my two 5* healers who haven't already maxed HM.
I really want to put a bunch of merges on some red unit for arena core; meanwhile, Nowi and Felicia are stuck at +5 and +6 respectively.
I really want to pull greens on the PA banner. I'd be happy with either focus green. But I'll probably wait until the next calendar appears before I take my free summon here ._.
I really want to pull as soon as Muspell Generals banner comes out. But I need to wait at the very least until the legendary banner trailer releases, and probably until I finish my pulling on the legendary banner. I might even wait until the next calendar because I can and hero fest might be coming ._.
Also, I'm trying to save so that I can pull when L.Lucina comes back or if CYL2 units appear on a 3% banner with three focus units, and on top of all this I'm already thinking ahead to 2nd anniversary in February.
I have two Lewyn, two B.Ike, two L.Hector, and two S.Takumi I could fodder. And I want another Lewyn, but I'm going to sit tight because you can see all the stuff I want.
740 orbs really isn't that much.

How much have you guys squirreled away?

EDIT: For those of you who don't really save much 99% of the time, what's it like? Here I am going "rawr I want to summon," and you guys actually did it. Is it rewarding?

I have like 60 orbs, 40000 feathers, 19 coins, and 200-300 stones. I'm decent at saving but when you have the need to go for Silas you have the need to go for Silas. Same for Special Spiral (Not disappointed Lilina and Gordin are putting in WORK)

Special spiral is so good if you use it right. I don't regret the 100-ish orbs I spent hunting for Lewyns.

I wish I had your strenght.
Got about 60 orbs now, that are going to the banner tomorrow.
My feathers are at 11k now..
And my dew and stones are together only about 100.

Did you enjoy / are you enjoying what you're getting out of the orbs and feathers you spent? Sometimes I wonder whether I'd actually enjoy the game more if I wasn't so strict and trying to squeeze so much out of everything, like, just live a bit, ja?

It's fun, I like just collecting units, but there's a price.
You'll very much get quantity over quality. I have only one highly merged 5* exclusive unit, and that was due to pure luck more than anything.
Samr with my feather use, I love building up the GHB units, but that takes away feathers for merge projects.
I've been a day one player, but my only merges higher than +5 are my +8 Sigurd and +7 Hawkeye

I'm gonna wait and see what the next legendary banner holds before I summon on anything. I kinda hope Bridal Tharja isn't on it on top of Legendary Hector, because I would like to save more orbs to get at least 2 copies of her. (Spd Feint for Anna Project). I also want to spend on the Muspell Banner, too.

My main resources, btw. You've got me beat in orbs by a long shot.

And you have me outdone in everything else except stones. That's a lot of feathers and dew!!

I don't like blowing a bunch of resources all at once. I haven't used dew in forever due to there being so many good options (Alfonse is getting his weapon refined for sure), and when I premote someone, be it for actual use or fodder, I only premote one at a time.

I'm a saver for the most part. The only thing I generally can't save is orbs.

One of my goals is to have every GHB promoted with a good build, so I guess that's a reason I save feathers, since merge projects are a very low priority for me. (Unless Luthier gets introduced in the game and he gets demoted.)

I'm not going to do much pulling on any banners atm. While some fodder would be nice (Shining Bow and Special Spiral) I'm not comfortable dropping below 1000 orbs for things I'm not totally in love with/desperate for.

Muspel might get 100 out of me, but not for fodder. The duel skills are not good foddered until they either remove the kill bonus, or until healers get their version. Having one duel on a team is nice, but unless they're a bonus unit you don't want them killing anything, meaning either stick it on a healer or a tank, or have an inactive unit for Arena. That isn't fun. That's dumb.

TOOONS of projects to throw feathers at, too many, in fact, that I'm paralyzed deciding what they should go to. Maybe I should finish +10 Effie or Olivia? But what about feathers for fodder? I like to have 100k for that! And, you know, future shit.

Honestly, I'm just tired of the same ol' game, so I'm really unispired to do much within it. Until we get some new, exciting things coming our way (still waiting for true coop and Universal Bosses) I'm going to only be investing less and less into the game.

Yeah I think I understand a bit what you mean by uninspired. I feel that way sometimes myself.

My thoughts on the duel skills is that they can allow us to turn units that we normally use as actual units into support bots just for arena and then just switch back to normal skills once we walk out of that madhouse. Like, Caeda for example? Normally, it's Wing Sword+eff, reposition, moonbow/iceberg/galeforce, fury, desperation, goad fliers, def ploy, or something like that. In arena you can go Wing Sword+res, super-rally, galeforce, R flying duel, windsweep, double ploys. Now your Caeda+10 is good both in and out of arena and you don't have to do something stupid like -atk on a glass cannon.

Had 35 orbs this morning and now I only have 1 bc I really wanted Ophelia & Nina. Hopefully I can save up and try to do more pulls before the banner ends.

I used to hoard orbs as obsessively as you, but have since lowered my limiters down a peg. It stems from my status as a F2P player, so I felt pressured to save as much as possible. Currently holding 350+ orbs and sitting on 100k feathers, but this is my new standard amount for deciding I have enough to spend a bit. I still only summon on banners I want, but am more willing to summon and spend on fodder and less desirable banners if i feel like it. It feels liberating to spend what you've saved just a little.

Also a hoarder. I just started spending feathers and dew recently(3 weapon upgrades and +6 merges). I'm still on the fence if it was worth it or not, I wish the weapon upgrades were a bit more powerful in general.

That's some intense saving, but then again, that's partially due to how clear your goals are, and your seriousness about the meta and new units. I just roll whenever there's a character I want. Whether it be art, or just the fact that they're broken that lures me in, I'll throw my orbs at it. I can save pretty well, but occasionally I throw a few orbs here and there for yolos (not often, but take the Lewyn banner for example, busted but only a single unit worth summoning). Oddly enough, my luck when I save orbs is pretty bad, but that's just coincidence. Either way, so long as I get my orb's worth, I'm happy. Atm, I'm sitting on 40 or so on both accounts because I spent an additional 40-50 on top of my initial summoning sessions of 150-200 orbs on the legendary banner before it got removed. Was worth it though.

I don't really feel like I have that many serious goals besides getting 5* value for my orbs and merge projects. And to be honest part of why I made this topic is because I question a bit how tight I play to try to finish my first 3-4 merge projects. I really want more coins (and stones are nice too, especially for the dew they return), but there are so many characters I want to build that I wonder whether I'm doing what's best for me.

I do keep a mental list of units I want, like, Ophelia? Definitely chomping at the bit anticipating a good chance to pull for her.

There are probably certain things you can loosen up on, such as SS upgrading. Sure, there might be better stuff later, but by the time that "later" happens, there will be another later. For divine dew, you can probably save them up for your merge projects, or for your favorite characters that might not have a legendary weapon yet, but if it's for gameplay purposes, there are some that will always remain a powerful upgrade for the characters, such as Eirika's, or Alm's refinement.

I just started to save orbs right in the last FE4 banner. Right now I have almost zero fodder so it's time to start getting stuff, at least I'm very happy with my decisions and how I spent my dew, stones, coins, etc.
I'm not really fan of arena but I still managed to be the butter in tiers 18-19 and that's fine to me, not really pushing too hard to tier 20.
