I know how the skill works (range 2 attackers when countering can counter range 1 attackers), but are there any REALLY good characters who can wield it? I have a decent amount of characters and I would like to have the range 2 character hold its own, to be on a team with my Fallen Hardin (- Def + Hp) and Fallen Robin (- Hp + Res).

True, but I have neither :( . My normal team consists of 5 star Legendary Ike, (Earth Blessing) Priscilla, (Earth Blessing) Fallen Robin, and (Earth Blessing) Hardin. {It works well with Tactics}. But I wanted to change it up and sadly Fallen Robin and Hardin are my only Tier 1's even after playing for about 2 + yrs.

The only 2-range unit on that team is Priscilla, and if she's being attacked, something's already gone wrong.
What other good 2-range units do you have? That would help determine what your best play is.
A good 2-range unit for Close Counter would be one with good defenses, particularly Def, as if a Manakete is attacking you, they likely have refined breaths anyway. So Boey, Robin, or Leon for example would make good candidates.

Now if we're talking about in general use. The it's up for grabs and depends highly on your favorit eunits, since CC is mostly for making wacky builds.
Good example as to why it's for favorite units. My P!Olivia with her current build reaches 36 def (42 with CHill Atk 3 active) without any buffs other than her skills at +10 and about 49-50 res as well. So she's comfy, and this is without buffs. Now, think about it this way. If it's for armor team, look for the missing color. If it's for fun, then go for the unit you like most, and understand that for said build you'll have to invest alot to make it totally optimal.
