Chrom, Dragon Slayer (Build Idea)
By way of background, Chrom was my first 5* unit and got me through a ton of the early content in the game. He has fallen into disuse for me as sword units have continued to power creep over time.
I've recently been thinking about my arena core, currently comprised of a full Fae merge, a soon to be full Effie merge and an Ayra +2. Ayra is amazing, but rare, and she's honestly kind of unsatisfying for me to use.
So, I started rummaging through my barracks and stumble on my long lost Chrom (+atk/-def, 5*+1). I have several 4* copies as well. Obviously, Chrom is slow and evaporates if within earshot of a mage.but, he hits like a truck, has good def, and a massive HP pool.
Since he is so slow and weak to magic, distant counter feels like a waste (also my Effie and Fae have this role on lock). The "breath" A-skills are options, as is the typical fury, but they all leave me a little dissatisfied.
That's when Close Def 3 caught my eye. With CD3 on his a slot and seal and with QR, Chrom becomes an absolute physical wall. With his refined weapon effect triggered, he baits and survives every unit (both units scaled to 5*+10 with attack boon and res bane assumed for the attacker, plus fury) except Oscar, Blucina and legendary eph. He baits and destroys every dragon, every axe, and damn near every sword unit in the game. Both Aether and Bonfire work well, with bonfire netting the most outright wins and Aether having better scoring potential and sustain for pitched battles.
I'm kind of excited about the potential of this build and think I will give it a try. What do you guys think?
