Can you merge a 5* unit with a 4* to give them their non-inheritable weapon?

I want to make a 4* +10 Eliwood, but since Durandal is a pretty important part of his kit, I want to know if I can 5* one with bad IVs and merge it with a 4* that has good IVs, and get Durandal on the 4*.
