Building Roderick, Hate Drag Back: Replacement?

What is a good replacement for drag back on Roderick trying to use firesweep lance? I personally hate the skill and I never find myself wanting to use it, or using it in an advantageous way. Feels like a hindrance. He would be in a cavalry team.

Perhaps you are using Drag Back wrong. If you've been recklessly positioning Roderick in a unsafe location after combat, that might explain why you would loathe it so much. It's more useful than you would think with the correct gameplay.

But if you insist on changing it... there's really not much B-Slot skills that synergizes with Firesweep Lance, but you could go for a Breaker skill.

I would also like to join the evangelical ministry for FSL / Drag Back, I didn't like drag back, knock back or H&R but since forcing my Oscar (who cannibalized Roderick) to use all of the above, I have found that it adds an extra layer to the strategies I employ against enemies.

Killing a bait enemy and sliding back out of the red zone only to force them to move into range of your potent allies is a glorious feeling. Or needling an opponent and taking no damage while dragging them backwards and into range of more effective units... so good. Once you master this skill you will be giving yourself so many self-hi-fives that people will think you're an insane clapper looking for a ride on the small bus.

WoM, Escape Route, maybe Lancebreaker to ensure doubles on fast blue units for offensive builds.

Pass or Lunge for some cheesy arena defense wins.

Drag Back or Hit and Run are very good skills depending on the team, positioning and their skill, but if you find yourself at a disadvantage I'd recommend Wings of Mercy, Escape Route or a breaker skill. Wings of Mercy would let you run to a teammate and get them out of a sticky situation, likely killing the enemy without any form of counterattack. Escape route allows you to run around the map warping to your teammates once you have been attacked, since you are likely to lose alot of hp when attacked. And most breaker skills will benefit you damage wise. All in all they're all good skills, but I would personally run escape route since it would proc after 1 enemy phase attack.

I appreciate the replies. Maybe I'll go with trying to use drag back more effectively, I perhaps am overextending too often with Roderick which ends with his demise. I will also try escape route, that seems like a good B to use as well.
