Building a +Res Soleil

Since Res is a superboon, that I like my units being mixed phase, that she has pitybroken me wayyy more than once, and that I wouldn't ignore that 163 = 183 possible BST at +10, here I am trying to build her.
However according to Gamepress, Res is a throwable stat (then why tf is Distant Counter in her favorable build?), so has anyone built a +Res Soleil and/or could give some advice as to how to build this beast?
I currently use a +5 +Spd-Def since she has yet to show up with my definition of "ideal IVs" and merging a unit that shows up at 4/5* is less raging

Oh no baby what! is you doin? BST isn’t affected by merges, the only thing that can change a unit’s BST is hyperboons/banes

I must have made a mistake in my explanation (I hadnt realized that BST meant BASE total stat, I'm not English sorry), but yeah I meant that the +2 bonus given by each merge boosts the unit's stats thus the score in arena

If you're talking BST because of arena weight, arena score considers BST before merges, and merges add the same amount of points regardless of what unit is getting merged (hence, +10 Nino scores something like +7 or +8 Hector). Also, 163 scores the same as 162 BST; score only increases if you move up a 5-point bin (ex: 174BST armours using superboons without superbanes to achieve 175BST, some dancers have 149BST and can hit 150 with a superboon). Nonetheless, 162-163 BST is good for arena scoring, so Soleil is indeed a good choice for arena scoring.

DC is recommended as the A-skill because many of the builds offered on this site are designed to maximize arena score rather than to fight well. I personally find DC on -res Soleil to be decidedly ugly; on +res Soleil I would give it credit.

If you want to use DC and try to sit on her massive BST as a way of making a mixed tank, I think it's a reasonable bet. BST is a good estimate of potential for mixed tanks because they use all 5 stats, and Soleil has one of the highest BSTs for infantry.

Build ideas involving DC:
- QR, because her spd is now very average
- close or distant defense seals
- wrath + slaying edge + moonbow/glimmer (I'm actually not sure which is better for OHKOs on 52-56 atk when +10 is involved); this is Ayra and Fir-esque except with mixed bulk, but on 35 spd she's looking for OHKO whereas Ayra and Fir can probably think about natural doubles
- renewal for sustain, because she can get her mixed bulk into the upper 30s or maybe even to 40 with some buffs

Alternative choices for A-skill:
- brazen atk/spd, brazen atk/def, or brazen def/res
- steady/warding breath (and cover the other defensive stat with the weapon refine). Probably very good with wo dao + moonbow/glimmer or QR ignis/glacies (depending on the team's buffs) if you use spd buffs to block doubles

The main challenge of a DC build involving +res IV is maybe her spd. It's going to be quite average, and she's probably going to get doubled by a lot of units if she can't OHKO back, which means she might get hit with specials. I guess you could use guard? Then you have bold fighters covered too.

Thanks a lot, up till now I thought that merges added to the unit's stats as it is in arena, as I used Sheena's example (an almost unusable superboon that gives her 170BST instead of 169), thanks for those explanation
But considering the cost of DC when compared to skills upgradeable to 3 is it really the best option for scoring ?
I'll consider Brazen Atk/Spd 3 if it scores as much. Still waiting for Brave and Legendary Ikes to feed my manaketes x)
For her Spd she would be +6 buffed by an ally with Spd Tactic, so she'd have 45 Spd (still average when compared to a +Spd Karla for exemple)
For B skill I already used Guard 3 so I'll just stick to it, having an almost safe way to destroy the armored meta with it sure helps a lot
Thanks for the advices

Ok that provides a lot of additional context.

The total SP of a character's skills (including weapon and seal) divided by 100 and rounded down is part of the character's score. So if your current build uses a 240SP A-skill and the total SP of Soleil's skills is 1530 (which rounds down to 15), then switching to DC (300SP) only brings it to 1590 and accomplishes absolutely nothing for scoring (because it still rounds down to 15) unless you also switch out another 200SP skill for a 240SP skill, in which case it would reach 1630 and increase her score.

You might like to play with this calculator to see how much you need to change on one character to achieve a score increase on that character, and how much needs to change across the team in order to achieve extra points. If the score of a single character improves only slightly, it often will not suffice to increase the score of the team. You might find that it's not worth switching to DC for scoring purposes.

If she can reach 47 spd with ally support I'd say you're probably safe from most doubles other than bold fighter. In any case, since you're using guard, if her def and res are high enough I wouldn't be too concerned about getting doubled unless you're trying to keep her HP above 80%. And I probably wouldn't use a brazen skill because you will only ever have brazen or guard active at any time unless she's at exactly 80%HP. DC is fine; close def is fine; any bond skill is fine; swift sparrow is also good if you want to be more aggressive, but then I don't know why you're using +res IV. Both close def and swift sparrow have the same SP cost as brazens, if I remember correctly. Since YT Olivia now gives us bracing stance, you could also consider that for a very enemy phase-oriented build, but since she can achieve spd in the upper 40s with the buff I would probably prefer a bond skill.

Though, now that I think about it, if they use bold fighter why don't you just initiate on them yourself? Soleil has a massive atk stat and you can hit them with a heavy or flashing blade dragon fang (or maybe ignis if you use def-refined weapon with atk/def bond) using slaying edge. They won't have the spd to avoid the double, and bold fighter means they're not using guard.

Out of curiosity, what's your first language?

Can't believe all that must be done to be one step closer to tier 21 though x) all for the sake of a Crown and 1 more orb (plus the merit)
Thanks a lot, I knew no website who could handle all that calculation without having to make it in 2/3 steps
The more builds I try on her, the more I tend to think that she should be 100% player phase though. Those Bold Fighter units could be dealt with a little easier but there could still be a case where she would have to take care of another ennemy and end up in this Bold F unit's range
Yes, both those skills cost as much.
