Building up Hector

During the Legendary Banner I actually managed to get the Ax Lord himself, but his IVs are Def+/Atk-. While less than ideal, at least I can patch him up with the Attack+ Seal. Anyway, I'm wondering which Special is better, Ignis or Bonfire?

I've said this many times before, but I will say it again
Top tier units are still very good with bad ivs. Thats y they're top tier (sorta)
My brother's two hectors were both +hp -atk and hector is good no matter what. Mine is -def +res and -atk + idk but work through boons and banes. My hector is a mage killer.
+Def -atk is not bad
+def is rlly good(40 def) and yea he will have 49 atk but there are buffs. You also can give him atk seal or distant def is always good.

The OP is right in their assessment about the IV's, but they failed to answer the question. Ignis would hit like a truck, and probably killl anything it proc'd on but it's a bit overkill with his already beefy Atk (even with the bane). With his built in QR on Armads, he would proc bonfire pretty quickly (also he'll likely be doubled due to his lower speed) which means he'll likely proc it on his first encounter during enemy phase. As long as he remains at or above 80% health, he'll probably proc it every time he defends.

Male Robin gives away Bonfire, bud. Boey, Female Robin, Leon, and Henry give away Ignis IIRC.

As for your question, I prefer Ignis to demolish squishy red melee units (if you don't have a character that can take care of them yet).

in general, elite armor units are better with bonfire and +def on Hector is actually very good to preserve QR ability.
