Breath for a Black Knight

Hello! I've started building my BK. I want to use a Breath skill, but I don't which to choose. Steady or a Warding one? Many people seem to use Steady, isn't Warding better because of poor BK's RES?

For the most part, people use the one they happen to have.

But usually it works better to buff up a unit's strong stat instead of trying to patch a weak one.
You really should be running someone with high res next to the BK

Also, there's the option of special fighter (though the skill is rare).
If you buff up BK's rather well off speed, he can blast off specials and avoid their opponents specials. Without needing a breath skill in A or a heavy blade in seal.

Overall though, just pick the breath you happen to have/can miss more.

I have both Warding and Steady ready to be used. Its true that I can make him even tankier, but should I really consider doing that if this guy can easily be killed by a stuff like Nino/Soren with so little RES?

Biggest thing is that he can almost always take one (non-blue) hit, nearly never two.
So the +4 won't make much of a difference.

If you want to make use out of warding breath you need some other way to boost his res.

Best breath for the Zelgii/Black Knights are generally Fierce but that's for 1 shot Black Luna builds and pricey as hell so not recommended unless you really wanna go for full damage on a Black Luna.

That being said, and since you have fodder for both, I will recommend Steady Breath. Unlike Ike who can use Warding Breath, take a whack and heal back up, he relies on surviving more and landing more Black Lunas, as such Steady Breath is the safer bet since you'll be allowing him to avoid more damage in said situations.

On the Res side, BK gets 2HKO'd if his opponent has 42 or more Atk (52 green, 35 blue) and OHKO'd if his opponent has 66 or more Atk (82 green, 55 blue). Warding breath changes this to 44 (54 green, 37 blue) and 70 (87 green, 59 blue). You'll notice this doesn't change much. Every magic user still 2HKOs, and strong blues OHKO.

On the other hand, Steady Breath can greatly increase the BKs survivability against physical threats because of his high def. Many 3HKOs become 4HKOs. Axes go from chip damage to zero damage.
