Best/Worst banners for you? A RNG discussion.

I was just thinking about this, and decided to see what others have experienced.

What was your best banner? Worst banner? What does it usually take for you to get a 5* (average orbs spent per 5* on banners)? Highest pity rate cost (orbs between 5* on a single banner)?

For me, it looks like this:

BEST banner: I have 2 I remember. Last VG, 75 orbs snagged 7 5* units, and even the 3 pitybreakers were extremely good. The other was the second herofest that had Ike, Genny, Julia, and Ninian; 80 orbs got me all 4 focus units, and a second Julia at +atk-res, optimal dragon killer IVs.
WORST banner: LA. Fuck. That. 200 orbs for 3 pitybreakers, 0 focus units. Only TT I did not have a 40% bonus unit at any time. That broke me as a man.
Average: I typically average 55-75 orbs per 5* pull. Sometimes I get lucky, other times it has taken 100+.
Highest pity cost: on LA, I went 160 orbs between 5* pulls. 40 orbs got me the first 2, and by the time I got to the Leon at the end of the pitybreaker road, my rate was at 5%, a 2% increase overall.

This is actually pretty easy.

My worst is a little bit of a tie. Way way back on Ninian's original banner (forget what it was called), I got all the way up to 4.75 when it ended and never got anything from it. At the time I was pretty bad so I wasn't able to get a ton of orbs and I was unwilling to buy any.

Then I had a somewhat repeat experience with Christmas banner. This time I'd saved a few orbs (that never happened again) and spend them there. I got an Eirika right of the bat and a W!Robin a little later...but then the dry spell hit. I went up to 5.25 on the last day where I broke down and bought orbs only to get a -ATK/+HP W!Chrom. Still very unhappy.

My best banner is a tie between Micaiah's banner and the most recent one. On both of them I got 4 5 stars from 3.25 or below (mostly 3). Micaiah I got a Mae, Shiro, Brave Lyn(no blues), and Micaiah. This current banner I got 3 EXALTED CHROMS and Morgan(F). My IV luck was better with Micaiah's banner though.

Man, those rates scare me just thinking about them! Christmas was one I got out after dropping 75 for W.Lissa.

But the RNG Gods seemed kind to you recently, so that’s awesome.

Best: First legendary maybe. 60 orbs 3 5*s.
Worst: Christmas! 200 orbs, one 5*.
Average: 60-80 orbs for one. I usually always pull the full summon, so there is no gap in between.

Man, the first legendary sucked for me. 135 orbs and I had a crappy IV Bunmilla and an Ayra merge copy.

Christmas ran me about 75 orbs, snagged a Winter Lissa, and got out. I saw so much horrible luck that I was scared shitless to even consider diving back in. Lol

That was a good choice. Should have done the same...

I got Genny, Fjorm and one other I don't remember (Sigurd maybe?) back in the first legendary. I actually did not want to summon there, but I had 60 orbs left and thought: why not? After all: great decision!

Sounds like me with the VG banner.

I saw Angel AKA Arcane pull some insane results early, so I said what the hell. 7 5* with 75 orbs (my wife was selecting the pulls I told her to, so she has the magic touch and I got to bond with her over the game) made me very happy, including my only triple 5* pull.

TG, you've returned! How was the vacation?

Worst Banner: the last Genealogy banner with Sigurd and Deirdre. 6.25% pity rate at the highest for a -Atk +Spd Deirdre and nothing else.

Best: Uh, in recent memory, the last Legendary hero banner. Got Ephraim, two Mia's, two Brave Ikes, Summer Corrin with about 90 orbs or so.

It was just what I needed. Cellphone hell got me away from civilization and it felt great. Found out Team Gamepress is now a thing, and I guess I’m credited as a founder. Lol. Glad to be back though.

The Genealogy banner gave me a +atk-spd Tailtiu after about 55 orbs. I bailed after that, used her for a while, and recently fed her to L’Arachel for a bladetome user.

Glad to see the last legendary banner treated you so well. I am very gun shy about them since I haven’t had very good luck on them, but put 15 orbs in the last one and got Brave Ike #4 and solid fodder.

I did see it. And yeah, against mages he dies fast. So you gotta be weary of warping points. He usually holds a camp for me or is a suicide Ignis dropper.

Yeah, hopefully I learn him from all my usage of Gerome lately in the TT. Gerome's the first TT unit I've merged to +1 and I don't regret it.

I haven’t gotten my 5* Gerome yet, but when I do, Morgan M is going to ride the bench with Alfonse for the rest of this TT, or until Gerome hits 4000 HM. Lol

I run him with Iote's Shield, Hit and Run for positioning, Threaten Def, and QR seal with Poleaxe+Def, Rally Atk/Def, and Bonfire.

He solos maps. It's nuts.

I get the struggles. I killed a 5* Roy I wasn’t using for a fury I inherited onto him. It went to Xander, a horse emblem mainstay. So I get it.

This reminds me of when I was new at FEH and I used a 4 star Roy. Then I pulled a 5 star. I merged the 5 star into the 4 star. Still haunts me to this day.

Yeah, I just don't see myself getting him merged really high, 'specially since he's locked out of additional copies and I only had 4 (now 3). Just didn't feel worth it to me and I have liked using Gerome a lot so far.

No worries man, Gerome is like the TT version of Michalis. Totally understandable. He’s also slightly better by BST, can’t fault you there!

You’re using a tanky green flier. That in itself is like a tribute to Michalis.

For the next VG, I am considering making a post calling for all Team Gamepress members to drop their friend code. Good for anyone who wants to join, good for me to know who not to drop like a bad habit to make room. Lol

Ayup. Also would be interesting to see if anyone has switched leads recently. Sometimes leads are more iconic than names. And a good place to establish a base of sorts in case people start matching a lot in the VG and need to talk.

I don’t think I can afford to put my friend code up, I’m on 43 (maybe 44) GamePresser right now. Which is crazy considering Team GP probably only accounts for about a 3rd of that group

I'm at 32-33, luckily I wasn't spammed with GP members not part of Team GP. I need to know a person well to be willing to add them if they don't have a merged lead, hence why I'm glad I have a unit I can be proud of offering to everyone.

Yeah, every friend on my list is from gampress. Literally ALL of them. But if they are not Team GP, they are vulnerable to being kicked.

Yeah, I had dropped a few max merged units off for other max merged units of the same variety.

But friendship is my top priority, even over power. Until IS expands the friend lists, I can’t do much else.

Lol the first ones to go for me were anyone who had been on hiatus for over 6 days. Then it dropped to 2 or more left. Then it was any Japanese player I knew I didn’t know left. Then it was any player not from here not offering something decent. Then it became anyone not from here. Now, it’s anyone not Team GP.

Yeah, well I would be shocked if admins were even a thing. I should have been banned LONG AGO. As should have many others. Lol.
