Best sword boy for mage baiting?

Got myself two spare DC's saved up, and two options to give it to in my 5* collection. So I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on em.

The first option is Eliwood, whom I feel is kind of an underated option. With blazing Durandal he's got pretty good attack and one of the highest res on any melee unit.
While I already figured that I'd give him glacies with quick riposte, I'm unsure about the right IV and seal. Atk+ or Res+? +3 atk, Distant defence, or a ploy?

The other option is Lloyd, little easier for me to build. Though not sure what would be the best B skill for him.
I figure that he'd be able to do quite a bit of damage and both his weapon effects aren't too hard to pull off
Especially great if he's paired with a mage that has two spur/drive skills.

Of course Eliwood is easier to merge up, but I'm not planning on making either a big merge project in the forseeable future.

Roy and Jagen are also great units that can bait out mages, but Jagen has an advantage as he can wield Berkut's L+ to tank even more. Magic tanks usually tend to go with an Atk or Res boon.

I did think of Roy, but I figure I'd like him more as a mixed melee bait with a breath skill. That's why I'm picking Lloyd or Eliwood over him for DC.

Jagen does seem fun, but I feel like Mathilda could probably do a better job with the same set, and Peri could deal more damage for a little less bulk.

Out of those two options, I think that Eliwood is better. You gain the advantage of easy +6 buffs to all stats, where especially an atk buff will help him proc heavy blade to actually kill things. I think that the cookie-cutter version would be DC + QR and Iceberg/Draconic aura/Luna with a +atk IV. If he triggers heavy blade, it lets him activate his special on second hit, which will be guaranteed thanks to QR.
Even though I like the balls deep offense version of Eliwood a bit more, I think that he can easily work as a DC tank.

Lloyd on the other hand has a really nice weapon effect, but I feel that it limits the teambuilding options too much...if any mage could fill the requirements, then it would be ok, but the fact that it has to be specifically an infantry mage, kind of puts me off, personally.

If you would also consider other sword options, then I think that Fir is one of the best mage baits in the sword department.

Yeah, I'll probably go with Eliwood then. An attack focussed build seems like it would make good use out of his high movement too. Allowing him to strike down some backline after bait.
Though a full on attack version of him does seem a bit wierd, seeing how he's quite outclassed on offence as a sword cavalier.

My idea was to put Lloyd on a team with an infantry pulse user. But he'll be benched..

Fir is indeed a nice option, but I do factor in how much I like a unit. For various reasons, I just like Lloyd and especially Eliwood a lot more. Dispite their art.

In general, I'd say that the best mage-baiting sword unit by far is Sigurd. In your case, I'd go with Eliwood. A DC-QR-Glacies combo would work pretty well. +ATK would be best for him in seal and IV form, since he desperately needs attack to activate his Durandal's Heavy Blade effect. Running him on a cavalry team also helps too, giving him easy access to huge buffs.
