Best IV's for a +10 Ares ?

I've got a +2 Ares atm (still waiting for more versions of him to show up), I'm wondering if once at +10 an Hp bane would still be an issue for his survivability as it is said in his gamepress page. He would have 40 Hp, 37 Def and 22 Res. I have a +Spd/-Hp one and I think it would be quite nice to build him with aether and something like desperation and heavy blade as he would have 56 Atk and 37 Spd without any buff nor A skill.

Dark Mystletainn's effect and Heavy Blade would help him trigger Aether at every encounter when doubling (too bad Dark Mystletainn doesn't work with Galeforce).
I could also build him with Distant Counter, Vantage and Bonfire but then a +Spd nature might not be the best one since a +Def +10 Ares gets to 40 Def (so 20 extra Atk with Bonfire).

So as I don't know what would be the best option I'm asking to you guys some advice.

In my opinion you should take -res only if you're not going to give him DC, with - res he may get one shotted even by green mages and die before getting into Vantage, for DC you could also consider taking - def if you want to preserve him magical bulk as much as possible

It doesn't really matter. -Hp and -Res are both -4 banes. He definitely won't survive two hits from any color mage, so it doesn't matter. An opponent would need to target his Res twice for the extra Res to be beneficial over the extra HP.

IMO, you're better off dumping the Res and keeping the extra HP. But I am a hypocrite because I just checked and my Ares is +Atk/-HP. If I can pull a -Res one, I think that would be preferred.

I didn't check his lv40 stats yet so I didn't know his exact stats. All Ares I got till now have all been Brazen atk/def fodders for now as I haven't got a good IV spread one

+Spd -Res is probably his best IV set for general usage, at +10 he’ll have 37 speed which isn’t too bad if you can buff his speed

+Atk/-Res for DC+vantage builds. You want him to one shot enemies.

Could you explain why +Atk is better than +Def for his one shot potential ? I feel like +Def would be better than +Atk since he will trigger Bonfire automatically.

Bonfire will gain 1-2 damage from +def. +atk will give +3, or in very few cases +2 due to triangle disadvantage (but then +4 for the same value of atk when at triangle advantage)

Two points:
- at +10, I consider 37 spd to be double-blocking territory with a spd buff except against slow tanks, who will get doubled even without the buff. Plenty of units have spd in the mid to upper 40s at +10.
- if you're merging to +10, I think getting OHKO'd is less of an issue because you gain 4HP as well as 4 res. However, if it's still a concern, drop spd or def.

+anything -res, I personally chose his aoe build,he completely owned the abysmal maps for me.
