Azama IVs...?

Okay, this is a bit of a bender for me. My current Azama is +Def -Atk, and I feel like that’s really good for what he does - stand in the way and take damage. However, his Res isn’t... great, and I was thinking of looking into getting +Res -Atk as his IVs instead to give him a more sturdy duty as a healing wall so magic bounces off like other weapons do. Is this a good idea or should I stick to what I have?

Really depends on the build, to be honest.

With a res boon, he only hits 29 base resistance. Combine that with his low speed, and he'll be getting torn to shreds by mages in an instant.

However, if he were to receive buffs, like Res Tactic, then he might stand a better chance of surviving ONE battle with a mage due to his fairly good HP.

The only +Res Azama I have as of now is -Spd, which is a stat I’d rather leave alone, so I’m going to keep finishing and see if -Atk + Res will rise sooner or later.

I figured that it’s probably bad when the person with the highest Res is Reinhardt, so I was looking into seeing if I couldn’t buff up Azama’s to at least make Dragons hurt less.

Alternative, would +Hp -Atk be better, then?

+HP is only good on units that will only take one attack (ex: I tend to use extra squad ace HP seals on my glass cannon mages in AA). Anytime you get hit more than once, def or res are preferred.

What do his fights usually look like? How much HP does he have left after tanking? If it's more than 6 then he would have survived even with +res instead of +def. If he's in the 20s or something and you want him to tank again you might want to keep +def.

Gosh, I couldn’t tell you off the top of my head. Generally, when it comes to taking non magic hits, Azama rarely takes over 20 damage from non specials, but if he’s taking over 20 he’s getting hit more than once.

I guess just keep it in mind as you play in the next little bit, as yourself "what would have happened here if I had +res instead of +def" and do it on consecutive turns, not just for one exchange

+res/spd and fortress res seal :D

+maybe brazen def/res.

All depends on what do you want to do with him.
