Trouble with the C and Seal slots in my Arvis build. Looking at three different choices.

If I go with the last build I can keep my +Spd - Def Deidre, but I'm just meh on her if she can make Arvis better.

(Corrected thanks to Cav829 & Acolyte Enlightened)

W. Valflame
SP. Iceberg
A. Fury
B. Recover Ring
C. Spd Ploy***
SS. +Spd***

C. Def Ploy***
SS. +Spd***

(btw, I ask a lot of questions here and everyone's responses have helped me a lot so ty)

Valflame/Ardent Sacrifice/Iceberg/Fury 3/Recover Ring/Defense Ploy/SS of your choice.

BTW: I'm not sure if the Attack Ploy seal and his weapon stack. I think it might just be a case of the higher value is counted.

OH! I didn't even catch that about his weap effect, your totally right. That solves the seal issue, thank you. Can I ask why everyone chooses to put Ardent Sacrifice on him? Is it so he can heal allies and get healed the dmg from his B skill?

Report

That's correct. He basically can take the place of the combat medic for Chain Challenges/TTs, which was previously dominated by Falchion users. Given that there are 4-5 x the amount of good red sword users as there are mages, that's pretty convenient to have. He can also fill that role on AA where healers can be a bit more valuable. I don't think he's ultimately ideal for basic Arena though.

Report

Yeah. Please do not sacrifice a Deirdre to him because Spd Ploy is "slightly more optimal." It's even creepier thinking about that build suggestion knowing the icky story of that game...

Report

Long story short: Arvis sends his lackeys to kidnapp Deirdre, brainwash her, marry her, and the first offspring is the rebirth of the demon god. Later on we find Julia brainwashed as well with a powerful tome to wreck us. Also, he cries at the moment of death, regretting to give birth to a demon god

Report

Well, technically, Manfroy is the one behind that twisted plot. Arvis ends up being an easily manipulated pawn....really, he's just breeding stock in the end.

Report

I agree with you. I believe they work just like Hone/Fortify/Rally buffs, hence they should not stack
If any one got the team and time, we could run a quick test. In training Tower, pick up a team with Res or Def Ploy and one random ninja with Silver Dagger and see if the debuffs stack. Display result here please

Your best shot at optimizing Arvis is removing Ignis for a Res-based skill like Iceberg or Glacies. His defense isn't high enough to make Ignis or Bonfire worthwhile.

Def Ploy makes him more of a team player and softens up targets for lower Atk physical units, while Spd Ploy is useful all around. If you want to keep your Deirdre (and you probably do, given how she's a 40% bonus unit), have him run Def ploy and +Spd.

Report

My bad, I meant to type Iceberg. Thanks for the catch. Yeah but Deidre won't always be a bonus unit, it might not be worth sacrificing her right now until after she's no longer a bonus unit, but is Spd Ploy simply better?

Report

You're right about her not being always being a bonus unit, but it's better to keep her considering her excellent mage-baiting and debuffing potential.

Arvis goes better in a team composition with Def Ploy, so I would recommend keeping Deirdre's Spd Ploy with her. Again, they're both strong units with different roles- Arvis' being an overall debuffer while Deirdre eradicates Blade mages -so keeping them both is optimal.
