Arguments against a 5th AR defender?

I just hit tier 11. Spending 300 stones on a 5th defender slot seems like a no-brainer to me on the surface, but I'm also still navigating the strategy on this. Are there strong arguments in favor of investing those stones elsewhere first? The biggest one I can think of would be maybe lacking the funds for bonus structures down the line. Anyone not opting for the 5th slot right away?

I opted for the 5th offensive slot and the defensive fortress upgrade. I'm more scared of being outnumbered by defensive teams I face but I also wanted to give some advantage to my own defensive team.

As long as I only spend stones on bonus structures for 2-3 weeks, I should be fine.

I somehow didn't realize you could expand your offense team, despite that making all kinds of sense. Clearly I have more homework to do. Thanks, that does make it a trickier decision.

You're not going to be able to afford bonus structures on both offense and defense and get a 5th defender, so if you go for the 5th defensive slot you're sometimes going to find yourself at a significant stat disadvantage. On defense, I think there are probably setups that work better with simply more units and others that prefer to concentrate the power in fewer units.

Also, if you lose on defense you can try to return some damage on your opponent, whereas if you lose on offense your defense team won't help you out. (However, if you don't invest sufficiently in your defense team, then your opponent will be the one returning damage against you.)

I've seen several people say this but it is not the case. .I have bought both bonus structures for this week and next week, and I have a 5th slot unit
