Arena Core Merging

We know that high BST, high SP skills, and merges contribute to arena scoring. But I don't see discussion on the scaling of merges. If the scaling is linear, wouldn't it be better to distribute merging among the three units instead of putting everything into one unit first so that the team composition isn't lopsided strengthwise? However if merging is not linear, it is probably better to max one unit first. (i.e. assuming similar BST, 2x 5*+5 =/= 1x 5*+10). How do people go about their core team merges?

Each unit has helps to score based off of their skills and BST, so you can split between your units, or focus on one at a time.

It doesn't make a huge difference. But if merging each one up to the same merge level at a time before merging heavily to finish out the +10 suits you, go for it. It will make the team slightly more balanced, but the usefulness of this is very limited. In fact, sometimes you can rely on one unit you've merged to +10 early and have them pull more than their weight on the team, winning a lot of matchups you wouldn't expects. So, either way is fine, really.
