Arena Core Cheerleader

Hello everyone,

I am new player, and want to build an arena core team.
since I play in the wrong time, now with the dumb update, we need to feed the kill to bonus unit.
So I am thinking to build cheerleader arena team

Odin
refined odin tome (atk/spd link)
dual rally
aether
distant def3
def/res link3
drive atk2
drive atk2

Corrin
refined yato (ally support booster)
reciprocal aid/ardent sac
aether
distant def3
renewal3
drive spd2
drive spd2

Marth
refined falchion (drive spectrum1)
reciprocal aid/ardent sac
aether
distant def3
renewal3
drive def2
drive def2

the bonus unit will have shove, and get +6 all stat from shoving odin.
Is it worth to build such team ? Or is it better just to give up some buffs, and build 3 armor cheerleader instead ?
any suggestion to have a better arena cheerleader team core ?

You're a new player? You really know your stuff.

Several things I would suggest:
- hoard feathers until update 3.0. We don't know what major changes may be coming our way.
- If you find the arena scoring system stupid, don't play to it. There are other ways to enjoy the game. You might find helpful to consider what I have written here https://fireemblem.gamepress.gg/q-a/updated-thoughts-new-arena-pt2-what-we-do-about-it
- if you're serious about score, don't merge Marth or M.Corrin unless you're sure R infantry duel is going to be released in the future.
- use dual rallies for your visible buffs and spam drives or ploys that is, unless you plan to have other units fight also, in which case maybe try to build a tactics team.
- Unless you really like this game, it's not too late to pack up and run now. The arena scoring system is very likely going to be stupid for a long time. Your investment in the game this far is still low so you lose relatively less if you decide to give up now and spend your time and energy on a different game. But if you like this game then don't be discouraged by what I just said. There are positive aspects to this game.

I've played about 2 months now, if that doesnt count as new, I apologize then. I've read a lot of thing before building though.

I do hoard feather atm, I just promote some of the GHB like camus and Xander, since they has distant counter. I still have about 150k lying around though, not really sure who to promote.

about merge, is it too much investment for them for lower score ?

I do like this kind of grid tactics game though.
even though the arena is just cashgrab for them, it is nice to get extra orb and feathers.
I dont really take arena seriously, but since I do want the reward, and easier time to play around it, that why I thought of building these kind of units, because on other instances, normally it is enough with just +0 unit.

Ah, ok. Usually when people come to us saying they're new, they're, like, a week old in the game or so. In 2 months I think people learn a decent amount about the game, so I don't consider them new anymore, but I don't think you're being ridiculous for considering yourself new. In any case, I think everyone here appreciates a player who educates himself/herself a lot.

My question (and you might want to rethink this if they offer abyssal maps again) is whether you're content to merge units for arena score and arena score only. I get the sense that you might be the kind of player who doesn't necessarily have a non-combat attachment to some character and who might see the game more as numbers and calculations. I personally find it a lot more enjoyable to use the units I merge in a variety of game modes, and I only put them in arena because arena scores on merges - otherwise I'd probably put an unmerged M.Corrin. If you're merging for arena score and no other reason, I don't think you have any reason not to restrict yourself to the highest-scoring units - 170BST armours or any other class using duel skill (ideally 175BST, but those are all 5* exclusive and obsessing over score requires merging legendary heroes so you won't generally have orbs for merging 5* exclusives unless you pay quite a bit), prf, 300SP A-skill, aether or galeforce (500SP special), 240SP in B, C, and S, 400SP weapon. To my knowledge there's no such thing as a 170BST armour with prf weapon, so it's down to units with duel skills and prfs, and as far as I know, the best one at the moment is Caeda, Raven, or Soren. Caeda can ploy; the other two probably can't but Soren has chill atk on his tome. You could also wait for other duel skills to come out; they are sure to come.

def/res link is the one i dont have tbh.

we just got distant def fodder though (3 garrons)
or I can just give fury there if I happen to decide to save garron.

60k feathers for aether though rip

I think there's a few things you could do to have a better arena cheerleader core. Marth and Corrin are very amazing for it but I would only choose one because getting tactic buffs are very useful. I would suggest ditching Odin altogether as he doesn't add much as Titania will. Add Titania in and give her dual tactic skills in her Seal and C slot with her refine for a total of +6 to 3 different stats. Lastly find another drive support character (preferably blue) or someone who checks what you can't kill that is not infantry so you can apply the tactic skills.

EDIT: I also agree with seeker that you don't need to play to the update. I don't and just use who I like and am perfectly fine with being in tier 19-20 forever or until the change arena.

I do consider titania too. but it's somewhat inconsistent with tactics, unless I can build 1 horse, 1 armor, 1 infantry core team so that it will work with whatever bonus unit they throw to me, since I dont plan changing the arena core team until they somewhat broke it again with some weird thing. (like buffing will deduct your score)

but as far I know, theres still no armor unit that focus on buffing like corrin/marth/odin/titania yet.
that's why I consider titania as a reserved project for arena.

Report

Every bonus unit if you use the free ones are infantry. So it's only inconsistent if you plan on using one outside of those options. EDIT: You also have fliers.

Report

The new dual rally+ skills are the max-scoring assists, and they give +6/+6 so you can fully buff your bonus unit with those already. So tactics aren't really optimal for arena.

Corrin's great for main Arena babysitting but Marth would be the better all rounder for stuff like Arena Assault since bonus kills aren't a thing and he can buff the rest of the team. Odin's not that good since Support skills don't score well.
