AR Troubles

Sadly, I’m getting pretty irritated at AR. It’s just frustrating trying to deal with 5 +10 units that feel impossible to beat (especially cavalry teams with Rein), LET ALONE IN 7 TURNS. It would be fine if a battle didn’t cost 60+ aether...

The escape thing only helps a bit, while mythic heroes makes whales win harder again. Plus, my defending team never succeeds, due to the +10 problem I said earlier.

I know I’m not great at the game, probably pretty bad even, but at least arena pitted me up against teams of similar strength.

I just want to enjoy the mode; I don’t want to hate it, as it is an interesting mode. Anyway, that’s my rant for the day.

As much as I want AR to showcase the most dangerous threats in the game, I'm getting annoyed at how easily a lousy player can make us sweat on offense just by sticking a bunch of ranged horses with a dancer.

As for the +10 issue, I think the situation will improve once everyone settles into tiers where they get stuck and can't move up. The mode is really young so some people have teams too strong for their tier.

I agree. It's really annoying how easy it is to make a "dangerous AR defense" by just slapping Gunnthra/Cecilia, Reinhardt, Red Sword Cavalry, and a dancer on a team. So disgusting. Especially now that 90% of people with a 5th unit put on Brave Veronica as the fifth unit. I don't mind the horses as a whole but it's such a pain because they don't even need to actually build around the environment and have a smart structural setup.

The thing is, it's a surprisingly, depressingly accurate reflection of real life. It takes very little from one fool to cause a lot of trouble to a lot of people.

I think now that thanks to the generous 300 stones, some players (including myself) may change their defense teams to be somewhat more tolerable. The fifth defense slot will allow for some flexible defense teams to be created. Of course, this also depends on the player, if they actually have any solid defense units built up. However, if they lack good units, they'll just add another annoying unit.

Horse/Veronica + dancer is cancerous as ever, but at the same time everyone has a free Eir and she is effectively the Staff breaker everyone has been wanting. She has a solid resistance stat, allowing for single or dual ploy action. Veronica still has dazzle, but no wrazzle.

Nino or Cecilia can bait B!Lyn (Unless shes runing Cancel Afinity), Reinhardt and Veronica. But the main problem is, almost everyone who is running this kind of defense, use Spring Breeze map, which can make units overlap their range. So, the solution is, use a strong armor unit (boosted Surtr do the jog very well) that can tank all the damage and live.

I think it's a start to solving the problem and I would love to see it put in as regulations, but I don't think it fully solves the issue of how such little thought and strategy can yield such a difficult team to beat.
