Is anyone "nice" during AR defense?

Hey everyone! So as I was going through some AR offense the other day, I came across an opponent who had a team/map layout that was a bit odd... the opponent had a single level 1 Peri that was surrounded by his aether amphora and fountain, all of which placed centrally and as forward as possible on the map. It may have been a mistake, but it looked purposeful to be so, so I kind of saw it as an act of kindness, where the opponent was giving away free aether, since it's so difficult to come by.
It got me thinking, so I'm asking if anyone else is generous out there. I'm not certain of AR mechanics, so does the defender incur any penalty for losing as well as also having their aether structures destroyed? If everyone placed their aether structures forward at no cost, it would help everyone play *that* much more!
Thanks!

I found the same setup with a Sakura. If they really wanted to be nice, they should've made that other fountain more accessible. Maybe these maps are a conspiracy by IS to get people to put a Smiter on their teams.

"(No effect on foes with a Pass skill.)" Both the bow and the skill work, but Takumi isn't hitting shit in that one block space and if you're actually running pass on a unit for the off chance you run into one of these you're insane.

It's a shame that obstruct, an already bad skill, is completely nullified by it's opposite skill with no down side(Both skills are very situational, but still).

You get 5 offense teams specifically so you can have lots of different options available to counter different defence setups. You're insane if you don't have a pass unit on one of them.

Mine is Gerome because I don't really use him for anything else and he already had Pass inherited for a rival domains strat one week.

Destroying aether structures does not affect the defender. I'm still going all out with the intent on defending but I do put both my aether structures at the very front. I use to try and hide them in the corner but after awhile it just felt dickish. It doesn't really affect me so why not just give people aether.

hiding them can be part of your defense map and actually benefit you. It can force them to loose an attacker by trying to get to it, which in turn saves you lift.

Im generous in that I use my main units and dont cave into generic patterns like horse/dancer and armored. But my success rate says im not too generous. I havent actually encountered a throw map yet

Defenders aren't affected by aether loss but punished for defence loss.
I'm not sure if i can be called generous tho, i tend to hide away aether and do my best to make a harder defence team but my success rate says otherwise, i tend to lose in AR defence without attacker losing even one unit, but there are exceptions.

On the offense's side, they gain Aether, which is very scarce.
On the defense's side, they act as extra obstacles when they're not shoved in the upper corners and you lose nothing if they're destroyed.
It's a win/win situation.
