Anyone else passing on abyssal LHBs to save resources?

I think I figured out a team that could clear abyssal Tiki, but I don't want to spend the resources, especially with 3.0 approaching. Feels wiser to me to pass up the fun in taking down that 49 def monster. Maybe this battle will also return.

Haven't tried them yet but I'll most likely just look up a guide. đź‘€ If I still can't beat it, I'm not gonna feel too bad about missing out on some gold accessories.

Report

I'm not in it for the accessories lol
But I agree that the mode is absurd. There's no way a 55atk Nowi shouldn't KO a sword with under 30 res in two hits. I even had an aether activation.

Report

Yeah, if the harder modes were interesting rather than just absurdly inflated stat values, I'd play them. Or if they were the same way they are and offered real rewards, I'd play them. But mindless, unenjoyable gameplay for a stupid accessory? Hard pass.

IS just struggles to scale difficulty in an enjoyable way. The tactics drills suffer from the same issue - you have to make plays that are illogical but happen to unlock the AI behavior win within the constraints.

As far as strategy goes, they're no sasquatch...I mean, as far as the rushdown goes, it's logical to me considering they need to corner you to make you feel uncomfterble (which they REALLY do). This isn't like Arena where the AI just mindlessly crashes against your walls. The PvE modes also places enemies in very smart positions.

I do agree just adding can be a bit of a difficulty scale...but I don't know what else you'd expect.

Report

If they offered serious rewards for a mode that's this absurd I would be angry, as I am somewhat about arena

And you make a good point about the tactics drills - it doesn't feel good to depend on the AI being stupid to get through a situation. I mean... what does it say about us if the only way we can win is when our opponents are idiots?

My brave lance+ Effie with deathblow 3, bold fighter and galeforce need 3 hits to kill that thing, lol. Then she proceed to kill the trilema healer.
You really need high fire power.

This mode is what has increased my interest in high firepower units like your Effie or spiral Ophelia. I generally prefer a lighter playstyle that blocks doubles and hits at an opponent's weakness instead of blasting the living daylights out of them like a 20-foot cannon. Felicia did well in infernal, but my style units with 85HP are beyond what this style can handle until I start introducing tactics buffs or something like that.

I'm not even sure if blazing AoE special on 65 atk can get through how much HP they have.

Yeah Tiki's slated to come back on January, so that should be enough time to get more resources (dunno about 3.0 dropping by then). Finished clearing all three last night, but I'm preparing for Abyssal GHBs now.

Report

Nah, im very type A and dislike leaving stuff unfinished in this game. Aside from when i was starting out, the only thing i didn’t finish was Relay Defense because No.

Report

hey seeker don't give up I beat it today when I think I was cornered (both in the game and my decisions) I stuck around hours during the weekened and beat the other two as well

Libra showed the little girl in a poncho who's boss.

The thing is that I don't have anyone who can tank Tiki's bonfire so I would need to build someone (shield pulse Raven, for instance) or get some slaying hammer astra or Cherche's Axe heavy blade glimmer, in which case I not only need to spend feathers I want to use my first 3-4 merge projects but I also need to get her atk up above 64 which requires me to use up my only Legault on a copy of YT Olivia that I might fodder for chill spd if I get an IV I like better. (I'm finding I don't really like -HP for her.) Plus I'll want to put other tactics on the team, and I'm not sacrificing my last cooy of L'Arachel lightly because I have difficulty finding banners where I want to pull blue.

Not worth it. If I had four merge projects completed I could consider something like this. I play relatively tight with resources.

There's a few pointers I could suggest that helped me out. I actually feel like putting up a video later, if you're also interested (granted I understand it's not the same characters and setups):

- Taking care of the ranged units on the other side of the right wall has been huge, for me. It takes a lot of pressure off of you so as they don't corner you. I start by having DC Libra take out the Red Mage and the Archer on the first turn (he needed like +9 Atk buffs total).
- Watch out for the Red Cavalier Mage with Seal Atk. I was having trouble killing him because kept debuffing my Libra...it wasn't until I switched Charlotte's Brave Lance to something to else, so that the debuff went to her instead.
- You're going to need either a VERY strong Blue unit to take out that Peggy bitch (double Close Def + Safeguard), or simply a Bow. My Charlotte with 63 Atk and Wrath Glimmer couldn't take her out...she needed to get Trilemma'd for that.

In general, the horse mages are the most annoying because of their massive range. Tagging the right wall and having a way to deal with those guys on the other side really takes off a ton of pressure. One of the Red Cavaliers even has double Rallies, which can help stall it off for a turn (they buff their allies if not at range).

Lastly, it should be a given you're going to want to face Tiki on Player Phase. Even my Libra with Close Def and an Atk Smoke debuff couldn't take her.

Report

I actually found a way to trick the ranged units into clumping up behind the wall by letting them hit Nowi.

My main issue is actually Tiki herself because Nowi obviously loses quite hard especially when I have -res. I need to bring someone just for Tiki, which means Marth needs to go because I need a ranged unit, which means I need a complete restructuring of the buffs. Or if I swap Felicia out for a brave bow (waiting to give one to S.Takumi) then I'm spending 40k feathers and foddering an atk tactic dubiously just to clear an abyssal map - 20k on the brave bow, 20k on Cherche, atk tactic goes on maybe PA Inigo, and it's not clear where the res tactic goes because S.Takumi probably will need an atk or spd seal (also, I don't want to spend all my coins until 3.0 and I only have def tactic 1)

If the battle returns in January I think I'll have at least 3 merge projects completed by then. More important to me is a strong roster in the long run than any objective in the immediate. It's like GC - better to keep my units centralized and coordinated than to take out a few enemy units only to have them respawn - and abyssal LHB comes every month now.

Report

I'm not, the units I used for the abysmal modes are built to deal heavy damage,so I didn't have any trouble killing them.

My Ares have enough power to one round most of them except for blues after he gets his aoe special ready, during fell robin Abysmal he dealt 54+32 damage just wiping her out

What resources? LHBs and GHBs are Stamina free, plus F2P solutions are a thing so you'd only potentially need 3/4 Star inheritance.
