Seeing lots of Tharja hate today. I don't even mind the black dress.
***That said, I DO question her winter wardrobe.
I hate Tharja because of Awakening and her normal version in Feh. Awakening she was SO on my nerves, and they made her into some dark seductress in FEH.
I like her winter variant because she's actually different from how she normally is (in Awakening) and how they fanserviced her (in FEH) and this new Bridal version of her isn't bad, but I'm not interested.
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed all the hate for her. I get that she isn't everyone's favorite, and she certainly isn't mine, but some people are immediately dismissing the new Tharja as trash without even looking at her skills just because they don't like her. I really don't understand why people are jumping on the Tharja hate train so suddenly.
This. People hating on Tharja is nothing new. The reason why it was so tame is because the only alt she had was the winter version, and she was *Completely Different* than how IS made her seem in FEH. She wasn't trying to seduce you or anything, she just genuinely cared, or at least it seemed like it.
Nothing wrong with the new Tharja, I'm just not interested in her because I don't want her. I need to save my orbs, lol.
i really do like tharja as a character but in awakening and heroes, her character was pretty subpar outside of supports. the way they used her to kinda state black magic=/=bad magic was a really nice touch, especially in her warriors support. its just a shame that they made her incredibly obsessed with robin because if you removed that aspect of her character, you'd actually have a pretty decent one.
i'm personally just annoyed that shes a red tome unit yet again. the first time was ok because she was armored but this one is kinda meh because she's infantry again
I don't really dislike Tharja. I think that she's a cool unit and is really fun to use in Awakening and Heroes. However, I do have mixed feelings about how she acts toward Robin. (I mean, I would be terrified if I were being stalked constantly.) Still, that doesn't really bother me too much.
What I really dislike is how she is used as a fanservice-type character when her portrayal was relatively tame in Awakening. I didn't even think of her as some type of sexy witch until all the art / merchandise outside of the game were released. It was really sad seeing someone that I thought as just a cool, albeit creepy, unit become some type of sex object to a lot of Fire Emblem fans. It somewhat upsets me that people hate her because of how IS and the fanbase at large portrays her.
Rant aside, I don't mind her alt. I actually think that it looks really good, and I might pull for her because I like her alt art. It looks the best out of the three in my opinion.
Yeah, on Awakening she was not this excessive fan-service that you can see now(she don't wear much clothes, yes, but she is hiding her "traits" with the book on her in-game image).
I don't know when this started, i was perfectly fine with her character after playing Awakenening, i guess this hate appeared from nowhere.
I enjoyed Tharja in awakening, now feh is a whole different thing. in Awakening, Tharja came off as a really awkward girl who has no idea how to make friends or flirt, so she takes to weird means of getting close to people. She even admits her "doom and gloom" personality is to keep with her dark mage aesthetic. In supports with other characters, she's shown to be very kind and wants to help others (ie: helping lon'qu with his fears, help gregor talk to his deceased sibling, Nowi's parents).
now in feh, the've pretty much eliminated all of this and reduced her to some generic sultry seductress who's all shadowy and sexy, and obsessed to death with Robin. That's it. They've reduced her to a cardboard cutout with big boobs. That's why i don't really like her anymore
i mean i was just trying to mention the characteristics that i liked about her that they completely dropped out to emphasize on her robin loving. i know she wasn't well written quite a lot of the time, just look at the fact they had her abuse Noire to the point of developing multiple personalities like it was just a funny gag.
There was a lot with Tharja that was done pretty well and a lot that was done absolutely horribly.
I've always liked her since Awakening. I like her dark and creepy personality and that she did occasionally show that she wasn't as evil as she liked to pretend to be. Also agree with you on the clothes, I love her wedding dress but her winter variant missed sexy santa and hit slutty santa.
