Alright since a lot of people still have questions and confused about the Merge update in Feb

Been seeing a lot of questions about the Merge update coming up so figured I'd put this here to clear thing's up. For the example I will be using M.Robin (the poor boy and all his superboons).

To start say we go with a +Atk -Res IV's, when Robin gets a +1 merge he gets +1 Hp and Atk, and since he has a Res bane he will now get a +3 Res with the first merge.

Know for a Neutral IV's a unit will get an extra +1 to the 2 stats that the unit gets at +1 merge and a +1 in a separate stat, so for M.Robin he would get +2 Hp/Atk and then maybe a +1 in Def.

Know the real thing that none of us do know yet is what will happen with Arena score, will they still score it based on a units bst at no merges or if the unit is at +1 merge if it will be calculated with the bane nullified, if I had to take a guess it would still calculate it at no merge bst so Banes should still have to be watched so you don't have a superboon if you are going for Arena score.
EDIT: After looking again the stats you get from the flaws will actually effect scoring my bad must have over read that part

The best thing about this Merge update is that you have a 16.6666666667% (1 in 6) chance to get the preferred Boon (if the unit has no superbanes) or Neutral IV which is a big boost from how it was atm.

Interesting, so IF this update changes how units score then a lot of the Heroic Grail options get a nice little bump, with H!Dorcas and Zephiel(by account of his PRF weapon I think?) would theoretically score just as much as LA!Eliwood. Also here's hoping that Gwendolyn, Draug, Sheena and Effie get weapon refines soon as well.

of course, this comes with the downside of a whole bunch of units going up a bin this way because of IVs. Zelgius, Hardin, a whole bunch of green armors for 175 and of course Surtr and H!Myrrh don't need to worry about IVs anymore for 180 if this is the case and that's just for armors.

Honestly unless Sheena's Refine comes with a no hp threshold guard I wouldn't use it unless I had Special Fighter on her, in which case I might switch her over to +Spd -Hp for more scoring

Honestly, with how much of wall Sheena is, it wouldn't surprise if they made her refine a Fortress skill or something. Effie would probably get Death Blow or something to that effect. I'd love if Wendy got an omni-ploy kind of thing based off HP. Not sure what Draug would get seeing as he has a Brave Sword and units with those type of weapons tend to get whole new weapons if you look at Raven and Ogma.

Errata:
- the bottom of this screenshot suggests very strongly that the patching of the bane does count toward BST for the purposes of arena score.
- the probability of drawing the desired boon is not 1 in 6 but 4 in 21, which is not a huge difference but a bit closer to 20%. There are four possible banes for each of five possible boons, which makes 20 possible IVs which are not neutral. Including neutral it is 21 IVs, of which 4 have the desired boon.

Report

When I did the 1 in 6 it was focused only on the boons if the unit has no superbanes including neutral, 1 in 5 is the same as 4 in 20 then adding 1 for the neutral both adds up to 16.6666666667%. I actually didn't even notice that little section at the bottom, but the question is would Superbanes be optimal now or would it still have the same effect as a normal bane

Report

If you had a superbane, you get +4 in that stat. If you had a regular bane, you get +3 in that stat. Either way, the stat ends up the same as neutral, right?

Also, 4/21 rounds to 19%, not 16.666 repeating. I don't see how adding neutral could bring it to 1 in 6.

So they weren’t clear on how scoring would work? That’s a pretty big oversight. I’d be pissed if I gave up my +spd Sheena thinking she’d score just as well as any other IV.
