5* Sword Dilemma

I've accepted that as a F2P player I'm probably not going to +10 any 5* locked units anytime soon. So naturally Cordelia(+7) and Sheena(+6) are staples for my team. I haven't quite started heavily merging Eirika or "Marth"/Lucina, but they're 100% the reds who I plan on using to keep me in T20.

So I have my team, great right? Except just summoning on every orb in CYL2 got me two fantastic swords.
CYL Celica with -Res/+Atk(holy hell!) And Karla with -Atk/+Spd(still excellent!)
So uh... What do I do with those two? I doubt they'll reach Masked Marth levels of merge availability anytime soon.

Eirika is better because you can run a tactics team with her and get fat stat bonuses from stat stealing in her sword.

Report

Of course she's great. 100% I'm going to use her.

... But my question is: what do I do with the two "meta" offensive swords I pulled? Unless you meant to sacrifice them both to Eirika...

Report

Optimal doesnt mean shit if you're not going to 5+10 them for arena.
Also, just because you have fodder, doesn't mean you NEED to use it.

As a fellow F2P player, I tend to either just hold onto units like those and fodder them to something I have at high merge levels. CYL Celica has some great skills for inheritance. As for Karla, I don't know how valuable Even Speed Wave is at tier 20 but it might be good for some units.

If you've gotten every copy of Masked Marth so far, you can already do +8. A!Tiki and Soleil are two more alternatives. However, A!Tiki really needs either Steady Breath or Distant Counter to shine, along with another dragon/sword if using Breath of Fog.

Something else to note is Cordelia may struggle in tier 20 if you don't have the units to support her. Unless you get lucky and have a merged bonus unit, you typically need to run dual rallies to get a score high enough to stay in tier 20. You rarely see non-dragon fliers in tier 20 because many of them don't do so well with high-SP builds.

Yeah I do the same. I just hate looking at all the clutter I never use, but their still too valuable to kill off.

DB4 is crazy but Celica I may use... Quad-sweep just seems so tempting. I've seen Speed Wave on opponents teams, but it's honestly given me no trouble.

Sadly the first Tempest slaughtered me and I can only max Not-Marth at +7. Soleil interests me a ton, but ultimately Eirika has her spot nearly sealed. I may trade out occassionally for female Marth just due to her raw power(sealed Falchion is a hell of a drug) but it depends on the bonus unit.

Thanks for your input!

There was a bit of a masked Marth dry spell recently but I am sure they will not stop at 11 copies total. You're in no different position from people who have been playing 6 after the first Tempest trial, which is still a long time with the game. You might just have to wait an extra month or two to get your final merge.

Try leveling them up and see how much you like them for other game modes like GHBs and AA. If you end up using them, often them keep them. Otherwise decide which of the units you do use would like their skills. While being great units, Karla and Cyl Celica both have great fodder.

Report

Yeah that seems the route to go. Shame that I got such great IVs. Kinda wish I could trade someone who wants a better IV before they collect dust or get foddered.

Thanks!

Report

I mean, they don't need merges to be good as they're both phenomenal at base regardless of IVs. But if you're insistent on not keeping them, foddering is always an option. Alternatively, you could save them for when you might need them for challenges and such.

Report

Use them for non Arena play. Or Arena assault . Celica with a stat boost for tempest trial for example. And when they appear in voting gauntlets. And for whatever else you could possibly want.
