Renewal

Overview

Renewal is one of the most straightforward skills in the game, allowing it’s user to regenerate ten HP every second turn from the start of the battle. Renewal is often seen on frontline units who are expected to survive many foes. Renewal’s value increases the longer the game goes, and the more damage a unit takes. While a unit might usually take too much damage over the course of a round to fight multiple foes, Renewal allows a unit to sustain themselves in order to fight multiple foes in one round. Units that rely on winning extended duels have great difficulty getting past Renewal.

Synergy

Renewal has a variety of uses within the Arena. Alongside Falchion and Reciprocal Aid, it is a core part of a common healer build, as its effects stack with Falchion’s healing. A user of the build can provide healing to the team without compromising offensive power. Renewal’s effects also benefit units with Fury, since it largely counteracts the HP loss from the skill. A unit with both skills can be very hard to take down, making it a decent skill combination for tanks. Renewal can give many units a second lease on life, potentially allowing them to fight multiple foes at full health.

Weaknesses

Renewal takes time to have effect: The longer the game goes, the more valuable the skill becomes. The best way to get around the skill is to go for a quick KO with a few powerful units. Using a dancer or high-power offensive unit is the best way to deal with Renewal. Charging a powerful special such as Ignis or Glacies is another way to quickly eliminate them.
