k, Distant Counter I'm speaking up only because I know you have a lot of regard for me; I was going to ignore this like I'm ignoring the rest of the noise and attention gathering around this person. I know you're at odds with him (to put the matter lightly) and I find his character very questionable myself, but I think you're taking it too far. Making a topic just about this isn't that much better than a few days ago when that guy made the topic about people downvoting his comments. Are you sure you need to be as mad at him as you are? If you think you're justified I want to hear why.

Did you forget this is the Internet? A place meant for people to speak their minds without having to worry about peer pressure? Why the hell would you want to ruin that? Take away peoples ability to express themselves in their own way and you've effectively stripped them of their identity as an individual. If someone wants to call someone else out over something inane like whats been going on in this thread, let them, its the internet, whats the worst that could happen?

On one hand theres debate and argument, where two opposing ideas battle it out in search of common ground.
On the other theres "shut up and go away".
You original comment fell under the latter more than the former because of the implication that he has no right to be mad at whatever, while acting as if you have any authority over him.itching that last sentence wouldn't have had been nearly as bad, but, you added that last bit in, which isn't much different than saying "i'm better than you, obey me."

I don't know where you get the idea that I think he shouldn't call you out for your inconsistencies. My point the whole time is to show him that he had a more appropriate way to do it and that he might benefit from examining his own motives. I said everything I said under the assumption that he is to follow his own best judgment. None of what I said was with intent to overrule his ability to evaluate and to make decisions. If he will continue the way he has done, I'll leave him to it, and if I feel that it's really getting too ridiculous I might ask the site managers to consider action against him. This Q&A section does not belong to me. To summarize, my intent was never to say "I'm right you're wrong" but "do you really think what you are doing is appropriate and honourable, and if so why?"
But just for argument's sake, let's suppose that my comment really does fall into the "shut up and go away" category and that I really did say "I'm better than you, obey me." I admit to no such thing, but let's suppose it was so. Didn't you just finish saying that this is the internet and that people should be allowed to act and say as they please? How are you not a hypocrite for saying that I shouldn't do such a thing if I really did want to?

Haven't been on in a few days and I saw his post about overrated skills/bragging about "gitting gud". Whatever, I didn't comment on it. Then I see his reply to someone talking about Mist and just thought it was funny, that's it. I'm not mad at him at all. Actually, I like having him here, he's an interesting character

If you say. I still think the appropriate place to call him out on the contradiction is where he made the comment, i.e. reply to it with his comment in the other question. What you're doing seems to me the equivalent of putting a street sign with a person's name and photo saying "this person is a liar and here's why"

In this situation he's acting very similar to a conspiracy theorist, seeing things that may or may not be there, trying to expose something in what his mind is right and just. When a normal person see's what he's seeing, all they see is a loon prattling on like doomsayers of the past.
