Winter Cecillia can be built into an offensive powerhouse thanks to her colorless and armor typing. Like Halloween Jakob, she can pose a serious offensive threat with the right skills. With Starfish’s built in Desperation effect, Cecillia can dispatch enemies before they have a chance to retaliate. A +Atk refine is chosen for Starfish, and though it only boosts her Attack by one, it appropriately synergizes with her build as opposed to the other refines.

Glimmer is activated every encounter Winter Cecilia initiates, even while in Starfish’s Desperation range thanks to Bold Fighter. Because of this devastating combination of skills, Winter Cecilia will eliminate all but the most defensive opponents before they can retaliate. Moonbow is also a strong contender for the Special slot, as it will further increase Cecilia’s chances of defeating enemies with extremely high Defense.

Deathblow 4 is the A Skill of choice thanks to its whopping +8 Attack increase on initiated combats, which synergizes perfectly with Starfish and Bold Fighter. Budget builds can work just as well with Deathblow 3. As mentioned, Bold Fighter is the obvious B Skill chosen, guaranteeing doubles and an additional Special charge.

Def Ploy in the C slot is a solid option thanks to Winter Cecilia’s strong base Res of 36. She’ll be lowering the Defense of most opponents who would otherwise survive her attacks. Should an already Defense-based debuff be active on her team, support options such a Hone/Fortify Armor, Armor March, or Even/Odd Atk Wave are all viable choices.

With a +Atk Starfish, Deathblow 4, Brazen Atk/Res Seal, and the Def Ploy effect on her opponent,  Winter Cecilia reaches 68 colorless Attack, which can be even further boosted by supportive buffs and skills from her companions. Few, if any, opponents are surviving a double from her with an activated Glimmer.

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Weapon: Goodie Boot+ (+Res)

  • Special: Iceberg / Aether
  • Passive A: Distant Def
  • Passive B: Bold Fighter
  • Passive C: Atk Ploy / Hone/Fortify Armor
  • Sacred Seal: Quick Riposte

Thanks to Winter Cecilia’s solid color type, armor typing, and min-maxed stat spread, she makes a fantastic mixed phase unit. A Res refined Goodie Boot improves her already excellent stats even further, up to a maximum of +6 Def/Res during combat should she be surrounded by up to three allies. In most scenarios, it’s expected for Winter Cecilia to be by her supported ally, so at minum she’ll always gain the benefit of +2 Def/Res from Goodie Boot and +1 Atk/Spd/Def/Res from ally support bonuses.

Typical Assist skills Reposition or Swap are useful here, unless in specific Arena modes, in which case a preferred Rally+ is beneficial for scoring. Winter Cecilia has two Special options for her mixed set: Iceberg or Aether. Iceberg is a guaranteed activation in all initiated encounters, thanks to Bold Fighter’s cooldown charge and guaranteed double effect. Due to her low speed, even with Goodie Boot’s boosts, Winter Cecilia is doubled in most combats, resulting in Iceberg also triggering in most Enemy Phase encounters thanks to the Quick Riposte Sacred Seal.

Unfortunately, because of her dagger weapon type, Winter Cecilia is unable to run a Breath Skill, ruling out Glacies as the optimal choice with no way to guarantee its activation during the Enemy Phase outside of Vengeful Fighter. Aether is also an acceptable option should sustain be valued over damage and may be superior in elongated, difficult Abyssal battles.

Lastly, in the C slot, Winter Cecilia can take advantage of a number of possibilities. With her strong Res stat, Atk Ploy or Spd Ploy have the potential to weaken foes. Should she find herself on armored or mixed teams, Armor buff skills such as Hone Armor or Tactic skills like Speed Tactic are strong supportive C slot skills to increase her allies’ power.

Introduction

Winter Cecillia, like many new units, has a finely tuned, min-maxed stat spread. With 165 BST, she is among all of the seasonal, ranged armored units. Like Halloween Jakob, her colorless typing will prove to be an incredible advantage for Player Phase builds. With the introduction of Aether Raids, the power of ranged colorless units has been resurrected. Offensively built Winter Cecilias will be a powerful Player Phase unit thanks to new skills and seals that have been introduced.

Like Halloween Kagero, Winter Cecilia has many strengths with few downsides. She has access to the incredible Fighter skills and is colorless typing. In recent months, the Dagger weapon pool has received some notable additions such as Starfish, Cloud and Sky Maiougi, and Barb Shuriken, all boosting this weapon type up to respectable threats.

Her versatility allows her to perform many roles such as Player Phase builds, Enemy Phase builds, and Mixed Phase builds. All in all, with a powerful statline and unique typing, Winter Cecilia can perform exceptionally well in the right hands.

Strengths

Powerful Typing

Winter Cecilia is the only Colorless Dagger Armor, and is one of three Colorless Armors in the game - the others being the powerhouse Halloween Jakob and Winter Eirika. Because of this, her combats will be entirely decided by stats and skills, for which she has those that are perfectly tuned for her role.

Strong Stat Spread

At 35 base Attack, Winter Cecilia can reach the upper 60s in Attack thanks to new skills like Deathblow 4 and Brazen Atk/Res Sacred Seal. She can perform well in both phases due to her solid Def/Res stats of 30/34 respectively and has enough HP to support a defensive role.

Self-reliant

With the correct build, Winter Cecilia doesn’t rely on her allies to take out enemy teams. Reducing combat down to stat and skill comparisons, she typically has the advantage due to her typing - ignoring the weapon triangle and access to powerful skills.

Weaknesses

Lack of IVs

Winter Cecilia’s biggest downfall is the lack of IVs due to being a Tempest Trials+ reward. With the inevitable addition to being purchased with Heroic Grails will alleviate merge issues, she will always lack a boon or bane for further specialization.

Requires Heavy Investment

While her base kit can work for budget builds, optimal sets are going to require heavy investment. Bold or Vengeful Fighter are coveted skills, and Deathblow 4 is extremely rare. Additionally, special daggers like Starfish and the Maiougis are locked to seasonal units.

Low Speed

Because of her low Speed, faster units with Daggerbreaker can nullify Fighter skills and double her back without fear of being doubled in return. Likewise, her low Speed makes her completely reliant on Fighter skills to perform effectively.

Team Options

  • Armor March: Winter Cecilia’s biggest reliance is a teammate with Armor March, which is invaluable in increasing her movement range.
  • Tanky Frontliners:  As with any ranged unit, a solid front line can help keep Winter Cecilia safe from unwanted offensive powerhouses. Zelgius, Surtr, Legendary Hector, and Legendary Tiki make great walls.
  • Dancers: Dancers that give Winter Cecilia a second turn to reposition herself or take out another foe are incredible allies. As Winter Cecilia can take down most units with each combat, a Dancer will allow her to eliminate two threats in a single turn. NY Azura and Olivia are acceptable options.

Counters

  • Anti-Armor Weapons: Anti-armor weapons will obliterate Winter Cecilia. Her colorless typing results in no protection whatsoever from these weapons. These weapons are also widely available and commonly used in competitive modes.
  • Daggerbreaker: Cecilia’s poor Speed requires her Fighter skills to activate for her to pose a threat. If these skills are canceled out by Daggerbreaker, she’ll only attack once, which won’t be enough to take down most of her opponents.
  • Tanky Raven Mages: Triangle Adept Raven mages are a hard counter to colorless units. Because these units can also run the above skill, Daggerbreaker, Winter Cecilia will fail to scratch these opponents.
