This set covers both squishy and beefy targets. It preys on the squishy targets by shooting them twice with a high ATK power. Due to Virion's decent SPD, Virion could actually double many tanky units. This allows Virion to activate Luna in the fourth attack, which kills the target most of the time. This meant that Virion with this set could kill targets of extremities, namely the low and high DEF ones. Swordbreaker could be substituted for any breaker skills for team coverage.

This build involves strategic use of Guard Bow+ and Life and Death. The main concept is to use the distant defense effect of Guard Bow and sacred seal to more than offset the Life and Death effect. Coupled with his high HP, this set allows Virion to be relevant in both Player and Enemy phase.
Virion's investment in SPD for this build is mostly to prevent double attacks and retaliate with Quick Riposte. The choice of Life and Death also helps out in this regard as Virion's SPD is not high enough without substantial investment.
Introduction
Virion is the first archer that is available to the player in the game, and is given as a 2-star unit. Virion is also available in the current daily rotation of units. This makes Virion one of the most easily obtainable archer in game.
As a unit, Virion is similar to Gordin in a sense that he can actually take some physical punishment. With the advent of distant counter characters, Virion could actually take a couple of physical hits from such counters before going down. Coupled with the advantage as a colourless unit, Virion is capable in taking down most physical melee characters in the game without much problem with help from skill inheritance.
Strengths
- High HP stat for an archer.
- Decent ATK/SPD spread.
- Decent DEF.
- Mostly consistent damage as a colourless unit.
- Bonus damage to fliers.
Virion's main difference over many other archers is that HP stat of his. It's ginormous. This trait meant that he rarely gets panicked from Panic Ploy, and is a good user of the said skill and infantry pulse despite being an archer. His offensive spread is also rather impressive considering his sizeable investment on DEF and HP, and there is a reason why this so, which will be explained in the weakness session.
Weaknesses
- Pitiful RES.
- SPD could only double slower units.
- Gets countered extremely hard by -Raven tomes.
Virion has very respectable stat across the board.... Except his RES. Without any investment, Virion dies from any mages by simply looking at him funny. With that said, most mages should not be an issue due to their low physical bulk. The more relevant issue would be Dragon units due to their relatively high physical bulk and speed, while running either Quick Riposte or BowBreaker.
Another potential issue is his middling SPD. His SPD might be adequate to take on the slower units, however he will not be doubling very frequently on most of the more recently released units.
Team Options
Counters
Similar to many archers, Raven tome users are the main counters for Virion. What adds to Virion's agony is his extremely low RES, which meant that these mages could hit Virion very hard. Fortunately Virion does have a thick HP pool, allowing him to occasionally survive the mage attacks. The more problematic is Dragon units, which usually either run BowBreaker or Quick Riposte, which spells doom for Virion in both cases.
As a ranged unit, Virion also dislike units who could get into melee range. His SPD also meant that doubling him is not very difficult with the help of a SPD buff.

One part of my death dealing duo, Virion’s job is to soften up everything Libra can’t outright kill himself, along with flat out sniping whatever is giving Libra trouble. There’s a glaring weakness in his Res, but as long as Virion’s on Player phase, this glaring hole isn’t as awful as it looks. Reciprocal aid is to snatch Libra’s wittled Fury health to slip into Desperation, while Luna provides the oopmh he needs to slaughter whatever he can’t quite two shot.
Laugh as you will, but he works well when paired up with a Renewal/Fury wall that doesn’t mind standing in between him and his foes - which is pretty in character for Virion, to some degree.

I always liked Virion and wanted to come up with a set to capitalize on his skill set. This build allows him at +10 to survive all current heroes on initiation, while allowing him to KO most on the next exchange. With S summoner support and a S ally support the ratio of positive trades increases greatly.
** Stats above for 5*+10, with S summoner and ally supports **
Guard Bow+ (+Spd) : Shores up Virions sub-par res stat while boosting his trades against other bow or dagger users.
Reposition: really this could be any movement skill of your choice.
Bonfire: This has the highest damage to cooldown ratio for Virion and lets him pick up key KOs.
Guard 3: Virion already has a pretty decent spd stat and guard is great for shutting down characters that rely on their specials (a lot of them).
Threaten Atk 3: This could also be Threaten Def 3 or Panic Ploy 3, depending on your team needs. Threaten Atk makes Virion tankier, while Threaten Def allows more KOs, and Panic Ploy deals with enemy buffs.
Distant Def 3: Finally we have the sacred seal. I chose Distant Def 3 as it allows Virion to survive better on defense, where as Close Def 3 gives him better advantage vs melee heroes at the cost of poorer match-ups vs mages.

Infantry support firesweep build
Trying to maximize Infantry Pulse while utilizing the Firesweep bow with Life and Death 3 and Chill Speed 3 to ensure double attacks with relative safety.
If the additional Hp for infantry pulse isn’t necessary for your team Atk Smoke 3 is a great backup seal.
Quick activating special is ideal to increase damage with Moonbow working better over Glimmer due to his low attack stat.
Even with Life and Death his high Hp still gives him a physical bulk of 72 where his magic bulk is a semi-decent 59. That said the hope is he will be able to ORKO most mages if he can land the first blow and get pulled away by teammates if not. Also if a unit is affected by his Chill Spd he can effectively double 38 Sp units

Aether | C | Panic Ploy 3 |
| S | Attack +3 | ||
A powerful and expensive build for Virion. He's one of the few archers who holds his own niche, having high HP and decent defense to be a cheap budget option to counter Brave Lyn. His high HP can also be used to abuse Panic Ploy 3 or even support his inventory team using Infantry Pulse 3. Infantry Pulse 3 in particular can be devastating in TT or in chain challenge as the the -1 accelerating special charge can build up per map. Aether let's him cut through thick defenses of his opponents and let's him heal back any HP that he suffered.

+Def /-Res or +Spd/-Res
(+Def for more tanking or +Spd to prevent follow up attacks.)
Thanks to Virions high HP pool and good defence, Virion is able to make great use of Earth Boost 3 making him a very durable archer.
Seal Speed is a very useful support skill to slow down fast enemy units preventing them to make follow ups and or allow your units to double them.
Threaten Atk 3 to lower the atk of enemy units to make Virion even tankier.
Having either Luna to half the enemy their defense or Ignis for extra damage.
Reciprocal Aid or Ardent Sacrifice to heal your allies.
