IV Sets

Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.
Complementary stats that matter, but not to the point of picking them over key stats for nature increase.
Relatively worthless stat that can safely be decreased through nature.

Viron prefers a either a speed-boosting nature or attack-boosting nature. A speed boost helps him to cross Nino off his list of counters, and beat Jaffar. Attack boosts gives more options for Virion to run Brave Bow builds more effectively.

Skill Sets

Brave Bow+ A Life and Death 3
Alternate: Fury 3
Reciprocal Aid B Swordbreaker 3
Alternate: Swordbreaker 2
Luna C Panic Ploy 3
SP1935SAttack +3

Show Explanation/Analysis

- Preferred nature: +ATK, -HP / RES
- Weapon: Brave Bow+
- Assist: Reciprocal Aid / Draw Back
- Special: Luna / Moonbow / Bonfire
- A slot: Life and Death 3 / Fury 3
- B slot: SwordBreaker 3
- C slot: Panic Ploy 3 / Varies
- Seal: ATK+3

This set covers both squishy and beefy targets. It preys on the squishy targets by shooting them twice with a high ATK power. Due to Virion's decent SPD, Virion could actually double many tanky units. This allows Virion to activate Luna in the fourth attack, which kills the target most of the time. This meant that Virion with this set could kill targets of extremities, namely the low and high DEF ones. Swordbreaker could be substituted for any breaker skills for team coverage.

Guard Bow+ (+Spd)
Alternate: Silver Bow+ (+Spd)
A Life and Death 3
Alternate: Life and Death 2
Reposition B Quick Riposte 3
Alternate: Bowbreaker 3
Bonfire C Infantry Pulse 3
SP1545SDistant Def 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

- Preferred nature: +SPD, -HP
- Weapon: Guard Bow+ / Silver Bow+ (SPD/RES)
- Assist: Reposition
- Special: Bonfire / Luna
- A slot: Life and Death 3 / Life and Death 2
- B slot: Quick Riposte 3 / Renewal 3/BowBreaker 3
- C slot: Infantry Pulse 3 / Panic Ploy 3
- Seal: Distant Def 3 / Close Def 3

This build involves strategic use of Guard Bow+ and Life and Death. The main concept is to use the distant defense effect of Guard Bow  and sacred seal to more than offset the Life and Death effect. Coupled with his high HP, this set allows Virion to be relevant in both Player and Enemy phase.

Virion's investment in SPD for this build is mostly to prevent double attacks and retaliate with Quick Riposte. The choice of Life and Death also helps out in this regard as Virion's SPD is not high enough without substantial investment.

Virion is the first archer that is available to the player in the game, and is given as a 2-star unit. Virion is also available in the current daily rotation of units. This makes Virion one of the most easily obtainable archer in game.

As a unit, Virion is similar to Gordin in a sense that he can actually take some physical punishment. With the advent of distant counter characters, Virion could actually take a couple of physical hits from such counters before going down. Coupled with the advantage as a colourless unit, Virion is capable in taking down most physical melee characters in the game without much problem with help from skill inheritance.

  • High HP stat for an archer.
  • Decent ATK/SPD spread.
  • Decent DEF.
  • Mostly consistent damage as a colourless unit.
  • Bonus damage to fliers.

Virion's main difference over many other archers is that HP stat of his. It's ginormous. This trait meant that he rarely gets panicked from Panic Ploy, and is a good user of the said skill and infantry pulse despite being an archer. His offensive spread is also rather impressive considering his sizeable investment on DEF and HP, and there is a reason why this so, which will be explained in the weakness session.

  • Pitiful RES.
  • SPD could only double slower units.
  • Gets countered extremely hard by -Raven tomes.

Virion has very respectable stat across the board.... Except his RES. Without any investment, Virion dies from any mages by simply looking at him funny. With that said, most mages should not be an issue due to their low physical bulk. The more relevant issue would be Dragon units due to their relatively high physical bulk and speed, while running either Quick Riposte or BowBreaker.

Another potential issue is his middling SPD. His SPD might be adequate to take on the slower units, however he will not be doubling very frequently on most of the more recently released units.

Team Options

Virion could pretty much operate by himself most of the time. However, Virion does appreciate ATK and SPD buffs, especially so with Brave Bow+. For builds that do not involve Brave Bow+, Virion would appreciate Dancer/Singer support in order to finish off targets that he could not in the first turn.

Similar to many archers, Raven tome users are the main counters for Virion. What adds to Virion's agony is his extremely low RES, which meant that these mages could hit Virion very hard. Fortunately Virion does have a thick HP pool, allowing him to occasionally survive the mage attacks. The more problematic is Dragon units, which usually either run BowBreaker or Quick Riposte, which spells doom for Virion in both cases.

As a ranged unit, Virion also dislike units who could get into melee range. His SPD also meant that doubling him is not very difficult with the help of a SPD buff.
