Assets

  • +ATK: Offensive colorless units love to beef up their Attack stat. With little counters, colorless units that boost up their Attack can threaten almost any unit and are excellent to use against more defensive oriented heroes.

  • +SPD: Velouria can be turned into a powerful offense-oriented attacker thanks to her solid Attack and incredible Speed. As a colorless unit, she'll have little trouble standing toe-to-toe with the most offensive units, if not outperforming them thanks to her disregard of the weapon triangle.

Neutral

  • DEF: Velouria's solid Defense at base 37 sets her up for a great Enemy Phase physical tank. Being colorless, she'll be able to withstand several blows from a plethora of offensive threats, especially while having the Speed to prevent doubles. More defense also means more Bonfire/Ignis damage.

  • RES: 23 Resistance is a workable amount for a colorless unit. Along with her decent HP and high Speed, Velouria will be able to sustain at least a single blow from the majority of mage threats. While taking a Res Flaw is viable, it's best to try to avoid it.

Flaw

  • -HP: An HP Flaw is the best for keeping Velouria's mixed bulk in tact and leaving her offenses unhindered. Additionally, having an HP Flaw allows her to enter Vantage, Desperation, and Brazen ranges easier.

We’ve all faced those Aether Raid matchups by now. Ophelia, Hoshidan Summer Micaiah, Brave Lyn, Legendary Azura, and others staring down the one available column that your team must force their way through to victory. Worry no longer - Velouria is here.

Wolfpup Fang is the weapon of choice, due to it being the only weapon available to Velouria. It’s incredible +3 Spd and -2 cooldown at the start of turn 1 allow for impressive build flexibility. Reposition and Smite are powerful choices for Aether Raids, though options such as Swap or Pivot also have potential to work well for Velouria’s AR role.

Thanks to Velouria’s amazing typing and high Attack and Speed, she can utilize a Distant Counter AR bait build extremely well. With no weakness, Velouria can safely take one attack from any opponent, and usually retaliate for fatal damage. As getting into Vantage range should be no trouble for Velouria, it’s the most powerful B slot of choice for AR bait units looking to take down multiple mage attackers.

C Slot is flexible and usually depends on AR team formation. With Goad and Ward Beasts available, it’s possible to run powerful AR beast teams. Should Velouria find herself amongst Tibarn, Naesala, Reyson, and others, she can make great use of these skills. Other team supportive skills such as Drive Spd also help her allies perform better in combat.

Brazen Atk/Def rounds out the seal slot with it’s incredible Vantage synergy. With Velouria’s respectable Defense, Bonfire is the Special of choice, boosting Defense by an additional +7 thanks to Brazen Atk/Def and adding another +10 damage from Wolfpup Fang. As Velouria has high Attack along with being colorless, Draconic Aura is also a viable option, but will typically do less than Bonfire, especially against units with more Defense.

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Preferred IV: +Atk or +Spd / -HP

  • Weapon: Wolfpup Fang

  • Assist: Reposition

  • Special: Ignis / Dragon Fang

  • Passive A: Steady Breath / Fierce Breath

  • Passive B: Special Spiral

  • Passive C: Joint Hone Spd / Even Atk Wave

  • Sacred Seal: Quick Riposte

This set takes advantage of Wolfpup Fang’s initial -2 Special charge and +10 Wo Dao effect. A +Atk Asset can be used to maximize damage output, while +Spd works to avoid doubles from some of the faster offensive threats. Reposition used in for the Assist, providing the most reliable utility amongst the Assist skills.

Velouria’s impressive Speed and decent bulk sets her up well for a Enemy Phase mixed tank. Steady Breath can be used for the A slot to further increase physical bulk. Fierce Breath or Warding Breath are also viable options, depending on required team roles. Special Spiral’s amazing synergy with Wolfpup Fang sets up Velouria to reliably run 4-charge Specials like Ignis.

Joint Hone Spd boosts Velouria’s awesome Speed even further, while an Atk Wave of choice can be used to further improve her self-reliance. Quick Riposte rounds out the Sacred Seal, guaranteeing follow-ups against fast opponents, though a number of Sacred Seals could work such as Close Def, Brazen Atk/Def or Brazen Atk/Res, Atk/Def Bond, etc. Thanks to Special Spiral and a Breath skill, Velouria will be firing off Ignis without requiring a follow-up.

Introduction

Colorless units are becoming the defining unit type of Fire Emblem Heroes. Thanks to bypassing the weapon triangle, these units rely strictly on stats and abilities during combat. As the second colorless beast unit, and first colorless physical melee infantry, Velouria does not disappoint. She has incredible stats for both offensive and defensive roles and she comes with a powerful supportive weapon, making her a great option for team support.

Velouria is extremely versatile. She can be used as an offensive unit, a defensive wall, a dual-phase unit, and even fill a support role. Because of her typing, she'll be useful against almost any type of target. She has incredible offensive pressure with high Attack and Speed and solid Defense. Her weapon grants incredible bonuses to not only herself, but an ally. She can easily fit into any team and fill the role that's needed.

All in all, Velouria is an incredible unit - especially due to the fact that there's just no one else like her. Colorless is currently king, and she'll tear through units with low Defense or low Speed all the while making her support ally stronger. She's a great mix of power and utility and scales incredibly well with merges. With the pool of heroes growing ever larger, she finds a way to stand out. You won't be disappointed picking her up.

Strengths

Incredible Typing

Not counting Leanne, Velouria is the first colorless physical melee unit. In a meta dominated by units with massive BST, colorless units shine. Velouria comes with a strong BST of 168 and a great stat spread. She’s powerful, fast, and bulky enough withstand multiple combats - especially with the right build.

Versatile

Velouria is versatile thanks to her weapon and stats. She is one of few units who can run a plethora of builds and perform well with all of them. Distant Counter, Bonds, Sweeps - these all are viable options. She can perform a great supportive role, though is still outpaced by some of the greats like Male Corrin and Kaden. Likewise, thanks to her great stat spread and solid typing, she is an excellent combat unit.

Wolfpup Fang

Wolfpup Fang grants -2 Special cooldown at the start of turn one to both Velouria and her support partner. In addition to this, it grants Velouria +3 Speed. On transformation, Wolfpup Fang gains the Wo Dao effect, granting an additional +10 damage to her Specials. Needless to say, this weapon is incredibly powerful.

Scales Great with Merges

Being a colorless unit with a strong BST, she scales incredibly well with merges. More stats are exactly what colorless units desire, making her all the more powerful.

Weaknesses

Beast

Perhaps Velouria’s most prominent weakness is the fact that she is a beast unit. As such, she must follow transformation rules, requiring her to be adjacent to dragons and beasts, or positioned alone, away from her allies.

Low Res

While Velouria’s Res isn’t the worst we’ve seen, due to her being colorless she’ll lack a triangle advantage against her attackers. Mage encounters will come down to stat battles, and there are plenty of mages out there who obliterate low Res units.

Infantry

With Aether Raids being dominated by mobility, units that lack strong movement have begun to fall behind in usefulness. This of course includes all infantry units, whose 2 movement can become a serious setback.

Team Options

  • Stat Boosters: Being a colorless unit, Velouria appreciates all the extra stats she can get. Units like Marth, Male Corrin, and Kaden make for great allies.

  • Beasts: Velouria appreciates other beasts units allowing her easy transformation opportunities. Likewise, beasts can provide her with Goad and Ward Beasts, stacking up her stats even further. Tibarn, Kaden, and Reyson are all perfect companions.

  • Mage Checks: With certain builds, Velouria can handle most enemy mages and even KO them before they can have a chance to act. However, she’ll struggle with staff users and other enemies who block her counter attacks. Fae and Eir, among others, can check mages and have the skill flexibility to run Null C-Disrupt.

Counters

  • Nuke Mages: Ophelia, Lilina, and Lewyn all have the potential to blow Velouria straight off the map before she can have a chance to enter Vantage range or close the distance. She’ll need proper support and setup to be able to handle these foes.

  • Armors: Velouria’s combat comes down to stats and that can be a problem when facing some of FEH’s most beefiest armors. Surtr, Legendary Tiki, and Duma’s huge BST will cause Velouria to struggle. Units like Black Knight and Zelgius who care little about their target’s stats can easily take Velouria down with a Black Luna.

  • Ploys: Due to her low Res, Velouria will be weak to Ploys. She’ll need to be wary of positioning so that she’s not struck by a stack of debuffs from opponents like Arvis and Julius.

  • Staff Users: Healers with high attack that can block Velouria's counters are serious threats. Brave Veronica is a prominent meta unit who will give Velouria a serious problem, as well as other staff units like Elise and Genny.
