Spring Kagero is an heavy offensive unit that thrives with a hit-and-run playstyle and can occasionally take magic attacks. It is best to go for a more aggressive approach with her with IVs

Boons

  • +ATK: Attack is an incredible boon for Spring Kagero, as it scales very well with Poison Dagger or Kitty Paddle. While Lethal Carrot builds or debuff build will prefer +Speed, Attack boon is still incredible as it helps her damage output massively.

  • +SPD: Speed is pivotal for her offensive build that does not rely on bonus damage, or debuff build which relies on Sweep skill to bypass retaliation.

Neutral

  • RES: While her Resistance is not of outstanding level, it is worth keeping it at Neutral to give her more options when baiting or initiating on mages. Furthermore, with base 27 Resistance she can apply Ploy debuffs on many high Defense but low Resistance tanks to boost her damage output.

Banes

  • -DEF: Easily Spring Kagero’s weakest stats. Even without a bane this stat is too low to have a meaningful impact on her survivability against physical threats. Do note that she has a superbane in this stats and a bane in Defense will lower her total BST to 149, which affect her arena scoring potential.

  • -HP: Similar to Defense, this is not her strong point. It has less applications than Resistance on her and is not a superbane like Defense.

With her incredible offensive stats spread and flier mobility, Spring Kagero makes a great attacker. This build focuses about exploiting her amazing Speed, especially when she is used in a Flier team, to make her a fearsome double attacker with strong damage output from Lethal Carrot or Kagami Mochi.

Both Glimmer or Moonbow are powerful options to run with Lethal Carrot thanks to their low cooldown. As for her Support, Reposition takes advantage of her mobility to helps out teammates with positioning, but running Ardent Sacrifice is not a bad idea as it helps setting up Desperation.

Aside from her default weapon Lethal Carrot, Kagero can run Kagami Mochi as an alternative. 1 turn cooldown Glimmer is incredibly powerful, especially when she is in a Flier team for Glimmer to start dealing serious damage even against tanky foes. Furthermore, with Glimmer at 1 turn cooldown, it also allows Spring Kagero to bait enemy's mages and kill them on her first retaliation with Glimmer. Last but not least, Kagami Mochi will guarantee a Special proc when Kagero is in Desperation's range provided she doubles the enemy.

As this build focus on giving her as much Speed and Attack as possible when she initiate, Swift Sparrow is by far her best choice as it does not lower her bulk. Fury is a decent alternative and has good synergy with Desperation, allowing her to initiate on tankier units. Life and Death gives the best combination of Speed and Attack, but it will drops her bulk quite a lot and might force her to run Ardent Sacrifice to setup Desperation. Another decent choice is Brazen Atk/Spd, but it requires prior setup and will lower Kagero’s battle performance at the beginning of the map.

Desperation is necessary to bypass her frailty, as Spring Kagero can’t take more than one hit from most enemies with her bulk.

As for her C passive, Spring Kagero is best used in a Flier team so any Flier buffs are fantastic for her. If she is used in a mixed team, Guidance will be amazingly useful to the team in term of maneuverability.

Brash Assault has great synergy with Desperation, guarantee her double attacks against commonly faced enemies with Distant Counter. Kagero is a decent user of Def Ploy, as many physical tanks does not have high Resistance, allowing her to debuff them and improve her own damage output. Last but not least, Guidance Seal can also be used if she opts for another C slot when used in a mixed team.

  • Passive C: Hone Flier / Goad Flier / Savage Blow

  • Sacred Seal: Def Ploy / ATK+3 / Savage Blow

Thanks to her enormous base 35 Attack and flying movement, Spring Kagero can outclass her own infantry version in running the one shot build with Poison Dagger or Kitty Paddle.

This build has an emphasis on Attack, as with Poison Dagger or Kitty Paddle’s effect, her damage scales up extremely well. Kitty Paddle is best if she is used to cover the variety of mages being encountered in Arena, while Poison Dagger is always useful as infantries can be encountered at every score range.

Death Blow adds a whopping 9 effective damage to Kagero per attack when combined with her dagger’s effect and it’s easily her best choice for one shot purpose. Swift Sparrow is a good alternative, as it gives Speed as well to make use of Windsweep or Watersweep. Atk Spd Bond works in both phase gives more stats than Swift Sparrow, but it requires good positioning to make use of.

Windsweep or Watersweep allows her to safely initiate on bulky foes with high kill pressure on retaliation, such as most dragons and melee armors with Distant Counter. While she might not be able to kill them, these skills allow her to soften the enemies for her teammates to clean up. Cancel Affinity allows her to annihilate most Raven Tome users as they tend to carry Triangle Adept.

Aside from the self-explanatory Flier buffs, Kagero can run Savage Blow in both her Sacred Seal and Passive C slot, making her an excellent chip-damage dealer. Def Ploy on her Seal slot or Threaten Defense on her Passive C slot are also good alternatives to raise her and the team’s damage output.

  • Passive C: Guidance / Savage Blow / Breath of Life

  • Sacred Seal: Phantom Speed / Savage Blow / Breath of Life

A Dagger user with good enough Speed will always make a fantastic support through debuff and chip damage, and Spring Kagero is easily cream of the crop thanks to her Flier movement.

This build is revolved around a strong debuff weapons, with Smoke Dagger being the best candidate thanks to its powerful AoE debuff. Rogue Dagger is a decent alternative, being able to buff the team as well at the cost of weaker debuff. As these two weapons don’t offer much damage output, Luna or Moonbow can offer some form of firepower when necessary.

As this build requires Windsweep to bypass powerful physical tanks, Speed refine and Speed boon are ideal. Phantom Speed should also be considered, as without it Spring Kagero will find it hard to initiate on high Speed meta units like Mia, Zelgius, Fjorm or Ayra. To further facilitate this, her passive A should grant her Speed on initiation, with the ideals choice being Swift Sparrow / Life and Death or Darting Blow.

In a Flier team’s setting, Kagero should have no trouble reaching required Speed to do her job and can even forego Phantom Speed if her Speed is overabundant.

Unlike most of her dagger using peers, Kagero can run Guidance to help out infantry or armor teammates, making her a great addition to mixed team. Other than that, Stacking Savage Blow makes her a fearsome chip damage dealer on top of her debuff utility. She can also run Breath of Life in both her Passive C and Sacred Seal slot to act as a combat medic in Chain Challenges or Tempest Trial.

Introduction

With an unique class combination and devastating combination of offensive stats, Spring Kagero easily slots herself into the contention of being one of the best dagger users in the game, which unfortunately does not mean much in the grand scheme of things due to how underpowered dagger users are at the moment.

Nonetheless, she is still a great unit that can do many things at once, and can function as a hybrid damage dealer - support in both flier team or mixed team thanks to her flier movement, versatility and damage output.

Strengths

Great base Attack for a dagger user

35 base Attack at neutral is easily one of the best amongst Dagger users, allow her to deal significant damage to many enemies when combined with her Speed.

Good base Speed

Speed is a particularly important stats for dagger users and Spring Kagero is certainly not lacking in this aspect. Not only does it improve her dueling potential and damage output against high Speed magic threats, it also allows her to run utility-based build with skills like Windsweep.

Flier Movement

Spring Kagero is unique from most of her peers in that she has unrestricted movement, access to Guidance and access to powerful Flier buffs. This makes her quite versatile and can be fitted into many teams seamlessly.

Access to anti-infantry, anti-mage and debuff weapons

Being a dagger user, Spring kagero can utilize daggers weapon with powerful effects like Poison Dagger, Kitty Paddle or Smoke Dagger, and with the good stats spread to make good use of them depending on the need of the team.

Weaknesses

Poor physical bulk

Spring Kagero has horrendous Defense and an equally unimpressive base HP. She is extremely vulnerable to physical attacks and it is highly recommendable that she avoid taking any form of damage from physical tanks and dragons.

Weakness against Anti-Flier weapons

Due to being a Flier, Spring Kagero is vulnerable to Anti-Flier weapons, namely bows and Excalibur. While Iote’s Shield provide a way for her to avoid this weakness, it is often not worth picking over another skills or sacred seals.

Team Options

Spring Kagero fits in both mixed team or flier team quite well thanks to her versatility and firepower. She is at her best when utilized as an offensive unit, and thus will appreciate her teammates to facilitate her rampage. On the other hands, units who benefits from Spring Kagero chip damage and support potential are also amazing teammates.

  • Dancers / Singers: Dancers/Singers are always great teammates to have, and there are no other Dancers that are better than the two ballad ladies. New Year Azura is one of the best fliers in the game who can not only refresh Kagero’s turns but also grant her powerful flier buffs. Performing Azura, on the other hands, can exploit’s Spring Kagero ability to run Guidance and grants her strong stats boost across the board

  • Fliers Units: As Spring Kagero is best used in a flier team to take advantage of flier buffs, most flier teammates will appreciate her presence. Notable examples include Elincia, Tana, Minerva, Morgan (F), Cordelia, Halloween Nowi or Spring Camilla.

  • Buffers: Powerful stats booster that can enhance Spring Kagero’s battle performance and take advantage of Guidance such as Marth, Eirika, Ephraim, Sanaki or Brave Lucina are fantastic teammates.

  • Strong infantries and armor units: These units benefit from Guidance as well as Spring Kagero’s debuff and chip damage support. Some good examples are powerful meta units like Fallen Hardin, Hector (LA), Zelgius, Fallen Robin or Ayra.

Counters

Spring Kagero is vulnerable to Anti-Flier weapons. Most bow users and Excalibur users can take her out quite easily. Furthermore, with her poor Defense, she will die easily to most physical attacks, especially against units that she cannot penetrate with her attacks.

  • Bulky physical tanks with Distant Counter: Aside from running Windsweep and debuff them, Spring Kagero has no way to penetrate these armor units’ defense. Worst of all, most of them often pack Distant Counter or has Distant Counter weapon, and can take her out often with one attack.

  • Dragon units: Dragon units are capable of targeting her weak Defense through refined breaths and most of them pack either Distant Counter or Lightning Breath, allowing them to counter Spring Kagero easily. Without Poison Dagger or Lethal Carrot, she will also find it extremely tough to get through their bulk.

  • Bow or Excalibur users: These units can easily one shot Spring Kagero with their bonus damage against flier.
