Robin’s a defensive mage, so he does not value speed as much as many of his peers. His attack is still important for sealing KO’s. Robin can safely reduce any other stat, but keep in mind that it will affect the kind of units he can beat.
Boons
-
+ATK: Robin has low attack and uses the low-might tome Blárraven. Therefore he needs all the attack he can get to defeat foes cleanly.
Neutral
-
DEF: High defense is a staple for Robin and helps him survive many of his battles.
-
HP: Robin likes to tank both magic and physical hits so reducing both is not a good idea. This gives a reduction of four, making it undesirable.
Banes
-
-RES: Resistance is the only stat of Robin’s that is not reduced by four with a bane. Robin prefers to soak physical damage, so this can be safely reduced if necessary.
- -SPD: Robin does not need speed for any of his matchups, so he can reduce this without penalty.

Robin’s signature set seems him set up as a dedicated counter to both colorless and red units. The core element of this set is the Raven tome/Triangle Adept combination, which gives Robin a 40% damage boost to red and colorless foes and a 40% reduction to damage incoming from them.
Quick Riposte is very important, as Robin’s comparatively low attack and speed makes it hard for him to naturally double or one-shot foes. He can also run Bowbreaker or Swordbreaker to neutralize those units respectively, but there are much better choices for slaying Sword-units. Even without Swordbreaker he can initiate safely onto most swords with Distant Counter due to Triangle Adept. Distant Def helps him soak damage, particularly on the resistance side on which he is very weak. If you use a Breaker skill in B slot, taking Quick Riposte as a seal will let Robin double most other foes.
Bonfire is the special of choice, triggering on Robin’s second attack provided he is doubled. Ignis is a very good alternative that lets Robin heavily dent or KO another unit after his first battle. His C passive and Assist skill are both mostly up to you and your team, but Robin works well with Reposition and Spur skills.

One interesting option that Robin has is going for an Owl tome build. Owl tome builds are great for bulky mages due to their ability of buffing both speed and defense. Robin can form a great partnership with units like Lucina, Chrom, and Marth due to their new Falchion refines.
Close Counter is an important skill, letting Robin counter-attack against melee foes. Quick Riposte is also very important, letting Robin double despite his speed (which is still low even with buffs). Guard is a great B slot skill for tanking hits from Brave and Firesweep weapon users who try to proc specials on their first attack. If you take Guard, make sure you take Quick Riposte in the Seal slot.
Robin’s C slot and Assist skills are taken up by buffs of his own to synergize with his allies. If he is paired with Lucina or Chrom, his Spur skills will boost their stats to even greater heights. Atk/Spd is generally preferred over Def/Res, but if you’re using Distant Counter Lucina the latter is the stronger choice. Finally, Bonfire is again taken as a cheap and strong option for his special.
Introduction
Male Robin (Also called Robin-M) is a blue tome user notable for his unusual stat distribution. He has one of the most even statlines of any unit, with attack, speed, and defense all at 29. He is considered to be an anti-meta unit whose primary purpose is to counter and eliminate specific threats on the enemy team.
Being available at 3-4 stars, he is a common 5 Star upgrade for many players due to his ability to counter specific threats well in Arena and Arena Assault. He’s a decent merge candidate but does not have the general-use power of other 3-4 star units such as Corrin-F and Olivia.
Robin’s problems come mainly from his statline: He does not excel in any particular stat, making him a jack-of-all-trades but a master of none. Low speed and resistance makes him susceptible to magic damage and his flagship Raven set is extremely weak to damage from green units.
Strengths
High defense for a mage.
Robin’s statline gives him passable stats in HP, Attack, Speed, but very high Defense for a mage. He’s great at taking hits from both daggers and bows especially with a Raven tome.
Excellent at countering specific unit types.
Robin is somewhat of a specialist unit, being very strong against both red and colorless units. Having a 40% advantage (thanks to Triangle Adept) against half of the units in the game means that Robin is likely to be useful in most battles.
Weaknesses
Low speed and resistance, for a mage.
29 Speed is very slow for mages, meaning Robin is all but guaranteed to be doubled by them. Many blue mages run B Tomebreaker, something he cannot afford to do as he needs Bowbreaker for Brave Lyn. 22 resistance not enough for him to survive multiple neutral hits on the magic side.
Can be ruined by Cancel Affinity.
Robin’s signature set is very easy to counter: Just have the Bow-user run Cancel Affinity, and Robin’s Triangle Adept advantage will be completely eliminated. This is common at higher levels of the Arena, making Robin an extremely poor unit there.
Team Options
Counters
Due to his statline and build, Robin’s matchups are zero-sum: He loses nearly everything he doesn't win. He has a long list of counters who can exploit Triangle Adept as well as his low Speed and Resistance stats.
-
Blue and Green mages: Robin is utterly decimated by green mages, but even blue ones can often double and KO him. Linde, Lute or mounted mages such as Reinhardt and L’Arachel are all deadly threats to Robin’s existence.
-
Green units with Distant Counter: Many green units choose to run Distant Counter, and due to Triangle Adept Robin will not be able to touch them. Stay right away from Hector and Dorcas as well as Distant Counter variants of Sheena, Amelia, Camilla, and Titania.
- Cancel Affinity colorless: Archers and Daggers that run Cancel Affinity will be able to deal heavy damage to Robin. Firesweep Bow users can hit Robin for free, and units such as Felicia, Innes, and Faye all boast excellent anti-mage capabilities.

One of my new units I wanted to give a try is M!Robin. His ivs are neutral and I think those are his best ivs. The reason why is because most of Robin’s stats give super banes. With the exception of resistance however. So that’s why I prefer neutral Robin. This build is the basic red and colorless counter build. There has been one change however due to the inclusion of his new weapon.
For his weapon his new tactical bolt is used. It is basically a 14 might raven tome which is pretty good for the build I already have on him. For refinement I went for the refine where he gets spectrum tactic.
For the assist skill i’m going for draw back cause it’s the only assist skill I find more common.
For his special bonfire is kept cause of his solid defense. While not high, I think he can still make use of it. Especially with buffs.
For his A skill I went for triangle adept to maximize the damage he can do to colorless units. It also allows him to deal more damage to red units. The price is him suffering more damage from green units, though not really a problem with careful play.
For his B skill i’m going for swordbreaker. The reason why is because there are sword units who are able to live Robin despite having ta. So swordbreaker is to ensure they will die.
For his C skill i’m keeping his default spur def. i’m using it for budget reasons.
Overkill I think Robin is a fun color counter. Although his tactical bolt is a nice addition the problem is that I already have a blue mage buffbot on my core team. Despite this he still has his uses whenever I need him. Mostly for modes like blessed gardens.

Robin is a skilled tactician with deadly powers that he is unaware of.
This build makes the Fell Grandmaster very powerful while staying true to his source in his original game from Fire Emblem Awakening.
Tactical Bolt helps deal with any colorless unit like bow or dagger units. Plus, with it’s Spectrum Tactic built into the weapon when refined, he can really shine at what’s he does best.
Harsh Command is a substitute to Rally Spectrum where he’ll convert his allies’ debuffs into stat boosts.
Ignis is a special skill that he always gets in his original game.
Death Blow helps him hit hard like a truck.
Poison Strike and Savage Blow helps deal extra damage and references his Fell Dragon Powers (even though he can’t get Savage Blow in his original game)
And Spur Attack is needed to help his allies with their attack power.
Make sure he is able to control his powers and doesn’t turn into the Fell Dragon, Grima.

This build is more if you choose for a defensive robin. Since he has higher def he could take alot of hits from physical enemies and dish out their punishment. thanks to his new weapon he good against colorless units again as well as being able to give every stat +4.
