Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.
Complementary stats that matter, but not to the point of picking them over key stats for nature increase.
Relatively worthless stat that can safely be decreased through nature.
HPATKSPDDEFRES
  • Go +atk all the way. Don't even look at the other stats. Atk is Reinhardt's only stat. The other numbers appearing on his stat page don't exist.
  • (Prefer neutral spd, though - might as well avoid getting doubled by slowpokes.)

Dire Thunder A Death Blow 3
Reposition B Lancebreaker 3
Luna C Goad Cavalry

SP Cost1,325

  • Preferred nature: +atk/-hp
  • Weapon: Dire Thunder
  • Assist: Reposition
  • Special: Luna / Draconic Aura / Moonbow
  • A slot: Death Blow 3
  • B slot: Lancebreaker 3
  • C slot: Goad Cavalry

35 (base atk) + 9 (Dire Thunder) + 6 (Death Blow) + 6 (Hone Cavalry) = 56x2 atk (Dire Thunder hits twice).

This is a simple and straightforward build (essentially, this is Brave Chrom with a blue tome on a horse). Pair with another Goad Cavalry unit to fire even more hilarious 60x2 attacks.

Not many non-green units will survive this. Lancebreaker is the preferred B-slot skill as it lets Reinhardt quad-strike lance users (including -spd Wary Fighter Effie), who would otherwise have the best (really, only) shot at surviving Reinhardt (beyond green, again).

Obviously, pair with a Hone Cavalry partner. Depending on team constraints, adding a Goad Cavalry partner to make the build even more insultingly powerful may be considered.

For the sake of complete information, some builds of Wrys can survive this Reinhardt once. Reinhardt hits hard enough one needs to look at Wrys for non-green things that survive an engagement with him.

Nino, being a super common green mage, deserves a mention.

  • Fury neutral res Nino takes 30 damage, which is enough to kill her if she's -hp and not wearing a HP+3 seal (she'll survive from neutral hp onward).
    • Keep in mind Nino still dies instantly if she's taken a single Fury recoil, unless she's +hp and equipped with a HP+3 seal.
  • Fury +res Nino takes 22 damage instead, surviving no matter what.
  • Life and Death Nino will die no matter what.

Dire Thunder A Death Blow 3
Reposition B Wings of Mercy 3
Luna C Goad Cavalry

SP Cost1,385

  • Preferred nature: +atk/-hp
  • Weapon: Dire Thunder
  • Assist: Reposition
  • Special: Luna / Draconic Aura / Moonbow
  • A slot: Death Blow 3 / Fury 3
  • B slot: Wings of Mercy 3 / Escape Route 3
  • C slot: Goad Cavalry

Pair with a beefy frontline Drag Back / Lunge user susceptible of surviving a first engagement with the enemy with less than 50% hp. The base idea here is to abuse Wings of Mercy for position play and complementary nuking.

Escape Route pairs with Fury and allows much greater mobility after a couple engagements (Reinhardt can now warp to any teammate regardless of their state). Unfortunately, this means surviving two engagements (or one bait) first, which is harder to pull off due to Reinhardt's extreme fragility.

Have you tried putting a raven on it?
Blárraven+ A Triangle Adept 3
Reposition B Bowbreaker 3
Bonfire C Threaten Atk 3

SP Cost1,125

  • Preferred nature: +def/-res
  • Weapon: Blarraven+
  • Assist: Reposition
  • Special: Bonfire
  • A slot: Triangle Adept 3 / Fury 3
  • B slot: Bowbreaker 3
  • C slot: Threaten Atk 3

Literally a slower Robin on a horse. As mentioned on Olwen's analysis, Triangle Adept + Raven Tome is impressive on anyone capable of learning it and Reinhardt is no exception.

Bowbreaker is suggested because Reinhardt's spd makes him incapable of doubling any archer on his own. That's pretty much it.

Introduction

Pros:

  • Great atk.
  • Just like Olwen, he gets to wield the Dire Thunder tome. 9 might Brave Blue Tome is plain great.
    • Unlike Olwen, Reinhardt doesn't even dream of quad-strike (except with Breaker skills).
    • Also unlike Olwen, Reinhardt can actually kill foes in only two hits of Dire Thunder thanks to his greater base atk.
  • Terrifyingly powerful when under Hone Cavalry's effects.
  • Summonable at 4star, which makes it easier to get him with a usable nature when compared with Olwen.

Cons:

  • Nothing notable beyond atk and mobility.
  • Abysmal versatility.
  • Without at least Hone Atk, he'll have a hard time actually landing kills.
    • Works best when paired with Hone Cavalry partners.

A slow, nuke-oriented blue cavalry mage wielding Dire Thunder (high might Brave Blue Tome). Reinhardt focuses on killing things before they get to move. He's meant to abuse Death Blow and be kept out of harm's way through strategic abuse of Reposition.

Strengths/Weaknesses

Strengths:

  • One of the best magic nukes in the game. His insane firepower can't really be overstated, and if you've ever met him in Arena you probably know this already.
  • Huge mobility and range.

Weaknesses:

  • Can afford to only have a Hone Cavalry partner, but absolutely requires that partner which means using at least two cavalry units.
    • Relying on a Hone Atk partner instead is acceptable, if you really want to use Reinhardt outside of Horse Emblem.
  • Only really good with Dire Thunder. Remove that, and you're looking at a frankly mediocre unit in spite of his great atk stat.
Team Options

Pair him with a Hone Cavalry unit, no matter what. Usually, Frederick, Xander or Eldigan are appropriate for the job.

Unlike Olwen, he only cares about his atk which means he can actually function correctly with only one cavalry partner.

Counters

Julia stops him cold, and destroys him on the counterattack. Some builds of Fury Nino achieve the same result.

Unbuffed Hector usually won't survive Reinhardt's initial attack, making his counterattack irrelevant. On the other hand, Hector under Fortify Armor's effect nearly always survives and kills Reinhardt during counterattack. Booted Vantage Hector also destroys most Reinhardt builds, since a single hit from Armads usually suffices to down him.

Outside of green, not much survives Reinhardt, let alone counters him. The best approach to killing Reinhardt without green is to bait the AI into range without actually exposing your units (which may or may not be possible depending on the active map).
