Reinhardt's speed stat is beyond saving, so this set seeks to maximise his attack power without sacrificing any of his mediocre defenses.

Introduction

Pros:

  • High damage magic wielder
  • High movement + range
  • Powerful AoE special
  • Strong passive skill in Vantage

Cons:

  • Laughable speed
  • Low BST
  • Medicore HP and defenses

Reinhardt is a powerful mounted mage with great power and mobility. With three movement and two range , Reinhardt provides great map coverage and can chase units effectively. Though his speed is among one of the lowest in the game, sitting at an average of 18 (yes, 18) at level 40, this is offset by his Dire Thunder weapon. This tome operates similarly to Brave weapons, meaning that Reinhardt will still be able to make follow-up attacks despite his abysmal speed stat. Therefore, Reinhardt can be a rather fearsome mage, capable of confidently OHKOing several common units.

Strengths/Weaknesses

Reinhardt's stats leave a lot to be desired, but the rest of his kit highlights his one major strength. With mounted movement, a brave weapon and two range, Reinhardt has one objective on every team: get in, get a KO, get out. Thankfully, he has impressive offensive power and good match-ups against common units: Reinhardt is a great answer to threats such as Lyn, Lucina, Marth, Eirika and Seliph. Vantage is also a fantastic skill on Reinhardt as it allows him to KO weakened enemies that try to take him out during the enemy phase. Blazing Thunder can provide some additional AoE damage to grant Reinhardt additional KOs, but it can be difficult to charge.

Reinhardt can be tricky to use to full effect however. His god-awful speed means that almost every enemy that attacks him will be able to make follow-up attacks, making it difficult to keep Reinhardt alive to get value out of Vantage. Nino and Julia pose great threats to Reinhardt thanks to their triangle advantage. Reinhardt also faces stiff competition from Linde and Robin (M).

Team Options

Reinhardt's ideal partner would buff his attack power or move him out of danger after his turn. This makes Eirika, Nino and Olivia great partners to consider. Eirika and, to an extent, Olivia can help deal with Reinhardt's weakness to green units. Nino and Olivia both give Reinhardt a safety net through their support skills, with Nino's allowing Reinhardt to end his turn outside of enemy range whilst Olivia's granting him the opportunity to secure another KO.

Reinhardt's Goad Cavalry skill makes him a great addition to cavalry-only teams alongside Eldigan and Gunter.

Counters

Bulky green units that can shrug off Reinhardt's attacks will perform very well. Hector is a great counter, though Nino is another good option. The best counter to Reinhardt however, is Robin (F); as she not only has a triangle advantage against him, but wields a tome that grants bonus damage against mounted units.
