Boons
-
+SPD: A boon in Speed is very important for Shigure’s overall survivability, as it gives him a wider scope in avoiding follow-up attacks.
-
+ATK: Attack also makes for an acceptable choice, as it allows Shigure to be a better combatant by increasing his raw damage output.
Neutral
-
HP: Shigure prefers to keep his HP intact, as a bane hurts his survivability by taking away from his overall bulk.
-
RES: Although raising it is not a priority, Shigure’s superboon in Resistance improves his ability to take magical damage as well as opening up the opportunity to use Ploy skills.
Banes
-
-DEF: Defense is Shigure’s weakest stat and easiest to drop, as it hardly affects his overall performance.

Sacred Seal: Distant Def / Quick Riposte / Speed +3
In addition to providing Dance support, this set aims to take advantage of Shigure’s status as a tome unit in order to give him additional combat utility through Weapon Triangle coverage. Since most combat is centered around Enemy Phase, Shigure enjoys a boon in Speed in order to better avoid follow-up attacks from high-tier Speed opponents. A boon in Attack is also acceptable, as it allows him to secure additional ORKOs by increasing his raw damage output. This can potentially be the deciding factor in his matchup against Brave Lyn. As for Specials, Moonbow is both potent and consistent in its activation with Shigure’s overall low stats across the board. At the cost of a longer cooldown, Luna makes for another choice of Special with even more power on activation.
The key to this set is running Blárraven together with Triangle Adept. In addition to the massive Weapon Triangle advantage gained over colorless units, Shigure will also boost his effectiveness against red units even further. However, this comes at the cost of even weaker matchups against green units.
For B skills, Bowbreaker makes for a fantastic choice by further cementing his favorable matchups against colorless archers. This combination allows him to effectively check prominent arena threats including but not limited to Brave Lyn, Bridal Cordelia, Winter Tharja and Halloween Jakob. Another great choice is Swordbreaker; due to sword units having higher Speed on average, Shigure will need it in order to consistently defeat them in a single round of combat by securing his follow-up attack. Finally, Wings of Mercy provides massive leverage as a team support by allowing him to warp adjacent to allies that are low on health.
Drive Spd is both cheap and effective in providing solid buff support. Otherwise, the C slot can be replaced with whatever is needed to accommodate Shigure’s team. There are several good Sacred Seal options; Distant Def is a great choice for this set’s Enemy Phase oriented playstyle, as it will reduce damage taken from all ranged opponents when initiated on. Quick Riposte is another great choice that secures him additional ORKOs by ensuring his follow-up attack in the Enemy Phase. Finally, Speed +3 further improves Shigure’s ability to avoid follow-up attacks.

Sacred Seal: Heavy Blade / Speed +3 / Attack +3
This build aims to adopt a more offensive combat role with the use of a Blade tome. As such, Attack and Speed are once again the best natures for Shigure to take in order to boost his overall damage output. In addition to Attack and Speed, Resistance also makes for a suitable boon should one wish to utilize Ploy skills.
Glimmer makes for a great choice of Special on any Blade tome user, as it scales with the additional damage received from Hone/Fortify buffs and activates within a reasonable timeframe despite the cooldown penalty tied to Blade tomes. Moonbow is a solid alternative that trades raw power for more consistent damage on activation and makes for a more effective choice against opponents with high Resistance such as Lute and Micaiah
Fury is a fantastic option for this set, as the boost it provides increases his damage output, overall bulk, and ability to effectively utilize Ploy skills. Alternatively, Death Blow is a strong choice in taking out opponents in only a single hit by giving Shigure a strong boost to his Attack on initiation.
The choice of B skill depends on if one wants to focus more on Shigure’s role as a support or as a combatant. Once again, Wings of Mercy is a great choice that gives Shigure a massive boost to his mobility by allowing him to teleport adjacent to allies that are low on health. Similarly, Escape Route allows him to teleport adjacent to any ally when he himself is low on health. This pairs extremely well with this playstyle, as Shigure will often be in HP range after only a single round of combat. Lastly, Swordbreaker makes for a good combat-centric option by securing Shigure’s match-ups against high-tier Speed sword units such as Lucina, Mia, and Soleil.
For his C skill, Shigure can potentially become an effective user of Ploy skills through a Resistance boon and further stat boosting skills such as Fury. In particular, Res Ploy can increase Shigure’s overall damage output while Spd Ploy can secure additional follow-up attacks should they land.
Although his base Attack is rather underwhelming, the damage scaling property of Blade tomes allows Shigure consistently activate the Heavy Blade Seal. This greatly boosts his damage output by allowing him to activate his Specials more frequently. Otherwise, both Speed +3 and Attack +3 make for good picks in order to give Shigure a solid offensive stat boost.
Introduction
Thanks to his status as both a refresher and a tome user, Shigure can provide fantastic support to his team while maintaining himself in combat. This grants him a lot of utility in battle, as he can take on multiple roles such as a Weapon Triangle check or a Blade tome nuker in addition to his coveted Sing ability.
Being both a refresher and a ranged unit comes with a massive downside. Shigure’s BST is bottom of the barrel at a staggeringly low value of only 139. This leaves him at a relatively low value in every stat. He is heavily outclassed offensively by a plethora of other mages and his overall bulk is lacking at best. Despite his shortcomings in pure combat ability, Shigure more than makes up for it thanks to his Sing ability.
Overall, Shigure is distinctive in the support that he can provide to his team as a tome-welding refresher. His ability to take on multiple support roles at a time means that he can perform well on many different team compositions and will always be a strong asset to them.
Strengths
Incredible Utility
Not only does Shigure offer pivotal support by providing his teammates with an additional turn, he can also perform well in combat situations.
Tome Unit
Thanks to his class type, Shigure can take on a variety of different roles both offensive and defensive by utilizing weapons such as Blárblade and Blárraven.
Weaknesses
Rock Bottom BST
In addition to taking away from his standalone combat ability due to having overall fewer stats to allocate, Shigure’s pitiful 139 BST will serve as a detriment to scoring in Arena.
Poor Overall Bulk
As an extension of his low BST, Shigure’s terrible physical/magical soak of 55/59 makes him vulnerable to damage from all sources.
Team Options
Counters
Strong attackers, both physical and magical will tear through Shigure’s sparse overall bulk. This is especially true for green units, as they have the Weapon Triangle advantage over him. In addition to this, units with high magical bulk can easily shrug off Shigure’s attacks due to his relatively underwhelming damage output. Last but not least, Shigure’s Raven tome set can be completely derailed should his opponent run the skill Cancel Affinity.
-
Powerful Attackers: Both physical and magical attackers can blow through Shigure’s poor overall bulk. Standouts include Hector, Nino, Minerva, Raven, and WT-Olwen.
-
Magically Bulky: Units such as Julia, Deirdre, Lute, Fallen Hardin, and Micaiah can all easily wall off Shigure’s attacks thanks to their high magical bulk. In addition to this, Julia and Deirdre can mitigate Shigure’s damage output even further by ignoring Hone/Fortify buffs that he receives when utilizing a Blade tome.
- Cancel Affinity: As opposed to any particular type of unit, Shigure’s Raven tome set can be completely negated by the skill Cancel Affinity. Common users include Brave Lyn, Bridal Cordelia, and Innes.

IVs: +Def -Spd
Given Shigure's lack of speed, and no monstrous attack to nuke with bladetomes like the likes of Sanaki and Lilina, this is his next best bet.
Blárraven+'s effectiveness gainst colourless combined with weapon triangle advantage being increased to 40% via Triangle Adept 3 allows him to inflict meaningful amounts of damage to colorless and red targets, while taking much less, if any, in return. This artificially increases his damage and damage soak, giving him a niche as a dancer. If Shigure opts for a Defense boon, he can even survive a brave bow B!Lyn assault, for example.
The rest of his kit is standard: Sing for utility, Moonbow for the low cooldown since his stats aren't high enough to effectively use non-Luna 3 cd specials.
Shigure also has other options should this bulky raven build be chosen. If cancel affinity becomes a problem, Shigure can opt for distant defense instead as an alternative to take on colorless. For B slots, Shigure has numerous options such as Quick Riposte to increase his offensive presence when baiting, and Poison Strike to chip at targets, though Swordbreaker will often be the preferred choice simply to guarantee ko's on the numerous swordsmen in the meta such as Xander, Black Knight and Ryoma.
As for Shigure's C slot skill, essentially anything can be run due to it's flexibility, and can suit whatever his team needs. The Distant Def 3 seal is taken to further boost Shigure's tanking abilities, especially against colorless such as Brave Lyn, as he greatly appreciates the additional +6 to his otherwise underwhelming defenses.

Moonbow helps you him get frequent damage bursts.

Miracle | C | Hone Spd 3 |
| S | Breath of Life 1 | ||
The ultimate support Shigure. Rule number 1 of this build. Shigure shouldn’t ever ever initiate in combat unless they are against green foes who CANNOT counter and are killable.
Dancer’s Score is kept becuase in case he does initiate combat, this tome can heal your teammates by 7 which is a lot.
Sing is used for obvious reasons.
Miracle might not be the first skill you think of right now but I’ll tell you why in a sec. His stats are poor, so using anything other than Miracle, Pasive, Aegis, or Moonbow is a poor decision.
Defiant speed is used becuase he’s slow and that can help him. I know what you’re saying. “But Shigure will die from any attack before he reaches less than 50% hp becuase he has poor defense and resistance!” That’s why we’ll need a MIRACLE to prevent him from dying. Yes refer back to the previous paragraph if you don’t get it. Aegis or Pavise only work on physical or magical attacks. Miracle is more rounded and despite its high cooldown, it’s worth not dying.
Geyser Dance is used becuase I’ve only told you how to keep Shigure alive. This is the support part. Sure you say that “Fortify Def or Fortify Res is better”, but if you use those skills, you can only use one becuase they’re C slot skills. However, this skill buffs both Def and Res at the same time. This also allows you to add a hone Attack or Speed for the C slot. Score! Wings of Mercy is also a good alternative if you don’t like to use this skill.
Hone spd is chosen to support his teammates in the speed category. Sure Atk is important, but speed is a bit more important. You can also use Breath of Life, but 14 hp is almost excessive and the breath of life is very situational becuase he’ll rarely initiate combat.
Breath of Life 1 sacred seal because all the other skills are worthless on him. Spur Def might be good but Breath of Life brings his healing potential to 10 hp. If you decide to use Breath of Life 3, then this is definitely reccomended as it’ll bring his healing potential to 17 hp which is mad.

My first hero build, but I wanna help others that may have him and these exact IVs.
So first his weapon, a Raven tome will help him take out colorless, but this boy is lacking severely in many stats and even still Lyn will be a task, but this Owl tome build can tank and kill Reins! So there is that.
Blarowl+. We aren't getting rid of Shigure's support skills. He is, first and foremost, a singer unit and should be used as such and in doing so should be next to allies which can give him a nice stat boost of +6 to all stats in a "T" formation.
Life and Death 3 (Budget LnD2) will give him +5 to ATK and SPD. His speed is really lacking if you have a -SPD build and Darting Blow is only active on player phase. This really helps him have innate SPD on top of a possible +6 from Owl tome. That's 11 SPD right there putting you at 37 w/o hones or spurs. Should, hopefully, be enough to not get doubled all the time. The reduction of DEF/RES can be negated from Owl tome usage so you only taking reduction if you're using Shigure by himself. (something I don't advise)
You could use Fury here, but his low HP just means you're killing your support unit faster which I don't think anyone should be doing, but it does add to all stats!
Geyser Dance 2. You could add so many skills here, but why would you give up his Def/Res buff for your units? Still use him as support!
Hone Speed. I was considering Threaten speed here to help his speed stat, but again he's support! Always, support! With this he can provide 3/4 buffs!
Seal is spur def just because more coverage and even better for blade tomes honestly (which is a great function!). Until they make an attack seal then he can be the all-in-one package of singing and buffing all stats!
Moonbow is the advised special because he shouldn't be in combat long to have anything else charged so slap the usual Moonbow.
Ending notes here to say is that he can honestly tank a full on Rein with this build. Sure, I could have more without LnD, but this is trying to patch ALL SKILLS to functional levels as any build is gonna be kinda meh. I hope this helps users looking for Shigure builds with this IV. His speed sucks, but you can work around that with Owl tome and LnD!

Build Name: Panic! At the Dancehall
IV's: +HP/-Spd or -Atk
Weapon: Blarraven+ (Budget Blarraven/Dancer's Score+)
Support Skill: Sing
Special: Moonbow (Maybe Reprisal?)
Passive A: HP+5
Passive B: Bowbreaker 3 / Renewal 3
Passive C: Panic Ploy 3 (This is integral)
Seal: HP+3 or Squad Ace 1
Ok this build spawned from the terrible pull I got on my Shigure (+HP/-Spd) so I gave it some thought and it dawned on me that Shigure can have some useage as a panic ploy user. This build is entirely based on the fact that most Bladetome units run a -HP bane and the biggest player phase meta threats (Reinhardt and Brave!Lyn) hit a maximum of 41 HP with an HP boon (Which I've never really seen) but I'm just accounting for it cuz why not. Regardless, this build allows Shigure to provide Dancer support as well as destroy teams that rely on buffs to hold themselves together.
The HP+5 skill is really the only A skill I can find that gives the further boost to max hp that you need for the build to function reliably. The B skill is kind of interchangable depending on what you have in your team with Shigure. If you have a check to Brave Lyn already then run Renewal 3 to make sure his health stays up, if not then run Bowbreaker 3. With everything put together, Shigure can actually survive an attack from Brave Lyn and kill her as long as he has Bowbreaker. Finally the C skill will almost have to be Panic Ploy 3, its the entire point of the build. Unless you want to live dangerously, then you can run Panic Ploy 1 Sacred Seal and use something else in the C skill slot, like possibly Breath of Life 3 along with Shigure's default weapon can make him also function as a decent healer, however he'll lose out on his ability to counter Brave Lyn without Blarraven so choose wisely.
The Sacred Seal is dependent on how reliable you want Shigure's Panic Ploy to activate, less reliable, run Panic Ploy 1, more reliable run HP+3.
