Boon
-
+SPD: A Speed boon takes Nino’s natural Speed from 36 to 39, giving her very good doubling potential. This Speed can easily be boosted further with skills, seals, and boosts, allowing Nino to reach Speed in the mid 40s and consistently double everyone but the fastest of units, giving her great damage potential.
-
+ATK: An Attack boon takes Nino’s Attack from 33 to 36, giving her the same Attack stat as neutral Summer Elise. This gives Nino an even greater damage output and goes well with a Wolf tome if you want to run that weapon.
Neutral
-
HP: HP is overall unimportant for Nino, but dropping it will make Nino overall less bulky from both physical and magical attacks. Can be dropped if necessary.
-
RES: Can also be dropped if need be, but Nino does possess fairly decent magical bulk which is somewhat lost if you drop her Resistance as the bane.
Bane
- -DEF: The ideal choice of bane. Nino is already weak physically and thus can be dropped with relative safety. This also preserves Nino’s decent magical bulk.

Nino’s Blade tome set is both cheap to build and very effective in combat, making Nino an excellent offensive magic user.
The Gronnblade is an amazing tome that adds the total value of all Hone and Fortify buffs on her to her damage dealt, meaning deal will deal immense damage if she is buffed. You’ll want either a Speed or Attack boon with a Defense bane to maximize Nino’s offensive prowess with this tome. For assist, using her default Draw Back is perfectly acceptable, but it can be replaced with something such as Reposition if desired. Glimmer makes for a great special with the Blade tome due to the damage values Nino can reach if buffed. Moonbow is also a good option, particularly if Nino won’t always have easy access to buffs.
Fury is a great A slot skill with Nino, increasing all of her stats except HP by 3, giving her a good all-round boost. The passive 6 HP of non-lethal damage also helps to let Nino safely reach Desperation range. You can also use Life and Death to increase Nino’s offensive power at the cost of her defenses while Swift Sparrow also gives Nino a nice boost to Attack and Speed, though only on player phase. Desperation makes for the ideal B slot for this set, allowing Nino to perform any follow-up attack immediately after her first, helping her to fight DC units she can sometimes struggle with such as Hector and Dorcas. Odd Atk Wave allows Nino to boost herself and adjacent allies by six Attack at the start of odd numbered turns. As she boosts herself regardless of nearby allies, this is a fantastic C slot skill for the Blade tome. Outside of this, the C slot is open and almost any C slot can work. Her default Hone Atk works well and can be used to support her allies.
For seal, Distant Def makes a good choice for baiting mages. With it, she can safely bait Reinhardt, even should he be +Atk with Death Blow 3 and QP Moonbow, making her an effective counter to him. If baiting Reinhardt is not something you want Nino to do, using a simple Speed seal is also a good choice to increase Nino’s doubling potential.

Though it’s hard to consider ditching her Blade tome, Nino can run other sets, namely this set which allows her to serve as an effective cavalry counter.
The Keen Gronnwolf is a powerful tome which deals effective damage against cavalry units. In addition to this, forging it allows for hone and fortify boosts on cavalry to be ignore during combat, though it can also be forged for simple stat boosts if you would prefer that. An Attack boon with Defense bane is ideal to maximize Nino’s damage output, though a Speed boon is also acceptable. The assist skill is open to preference with Nino’s default Draw Back being a fine option, though it can be replaced if you so desire. Moonbow makes for a nice special thanks to its low cooldown. Glimmer makes for a good special too for the same reason.
Fury in the A slot will improve Nino across the board thanks to the +3 boosts to all stats except HP while the passive damage will allow Nino to reach Vantage range with relative ease. Vantage works nicely in the B slot for countering ranged horse units such as Brave Lyn and Reinhardt as it’ll allow Nino to attack first when these two attack her and attain a OHKO before they can even attack. Desperation also works fine, allowing her to safely attain a ORKO against Xander, even should he have Distant Def 6. The C slot is player preference with her default Hone Atk working well as an option, though this can be switched out as you see fit.
Distant Def against works fine as a sacred seal, helping her to safely bait Reinhardt and Mulagir Brave Lyn when Vantage is not active. A simple Attack seal also works fine, helping Nino to improve her damage output.
Introduction
The girl who’ll always do her best no matter the situation, Nino is a green infantry mage and simply an all round great unit. Nino remains of the most popular choices for green magic in the game due to her great offensive potential and ease of access.
With 33 Attack and 36 Speed, Nino has one of the best offensive spreads for green mages alongside Summer Elise and Rhajat. While her raw Attack power is less than both of these, she has the Speed advantage which gives her greater doubling potential. These great offensive stats come at the price of poor defenses overall. Her physical bulk is low with 33 HP and 19 Defense, meaning physical units who can get in the attack will be able to deal high amounts of damage to her, if not outright KO her. She fares better magically with 26 Resistance which is alright, but she is still somewhat vulnerable magically thanks to her low HP, especially against red mages such as Celica.
All in all, Nino is a solid offensive green mage who’s easy to obtain, cheap to build and great to use. She sits alongside Rhajat and Summer Elise as strong contenders for offensive mages and is worthy of consideration for magic users. Build and use her well and Nino will do nothing but her best for you.
Strengths
Great Attack
With 33 Attack, Nino has one of the higher Attack stat for green mages, matching with Soren and Sonya. With her default Blade tome or something such as a Wolf tome, Nino is easily capable of dealing a lot of damage in a single attack.
Great Speed
With 36 Speed, Nino has the second highest Speed for green mages and one of the fastest Speed stats of all mages. Nino has great doubling potential thanks to her default high Speed which can be boosted further with a Speed boon, skills like Fury, seals, and hone buffs allowing her to easily reach Speed in the mid 40s, potentially even faster with higher merges.
Weaknesses
Poor physical bulk
At 33 HP and 19 Defense, Nino is very frail in terms of physical defense. DC Sword units such as Ike, Zelgius, and Ryoma will very likely be capable of a OHKO on her if she is unable to KO them before their counterattack. Axe units such as Hector and Dorcas are also quite capable of a OHKO too.
Somewhat support dependant
In order for Nino to reach her max potential, she requires support from someone who can effectively boost her stats such as Ephraim, thus meaning you’d have to sacrifice a team slot for a buffer like him to allow Nino to reach her max potential. Despite this, Nino can still perform well without boosts, not to mention that Ephraim is a solid lance unit on his own so he makes a good choice for a lance unit regardless.
Team Options
Counters
Being physically frail, Nino will primarily want to avoid any strong physical melee fighters, particularly sword units. Axe units and Lance units can also severely hurt Nino, but the lack of weapon triangle advantage makes her fare better overall. Strong archers will also be able to deal with Nino fairly easily. In general, Nino is a player phase unit, so removing her from enemy range is ideal is practically any situation, though she can bait non-red mages fairly well.
-
Distant Counter Sword Units: Sword units such as Vanguard Ike, Ryoma, and Zelgius can be tricky for Nino to attack as all three carry Distant Counter on their weapons and are easily capable of a OHKO against her, making it difficult for Nino to safely attack them, though it can sometimes be done by utilizing boosts or Desperation.
-
Red Mages: Red mages such as Celica, Winter Tharja, and Lyon all fair extremely well against Nino mainly thanks to the weapon triangle advantage. With her immense damage output, Celica is quite capable of a OHKO against Nino, especially if Celica is running Life and Death or has an Attack boon. Their high Resistance makes Winter Tharja and Lyon tricky targets for Nino and both can deal high damage, if not KO in return.
- Archers: Archers such as Brave Lyn, Bridal Cordelia, Innes, and Halloween Jakob are all strong on the attack and can easily prey on Nino’s low defenses. All three can be quite commonly seen wielding a Brave Bow and will destroy Nino with ease if they are armed this way. Halloween Jakob can also sometimes be seen with a Guard Bow which makes him quite resistant to magic, making him a very tricky target for Nino.

Make sure to be careful so she is not in range, since she will be taking Fury damage, which is the only damage she should take.
This is a pretty basic set. Using Fury and Desperation she can annihilate most things, and if not then Savage Blow will weaken everything around for her teammates to pick up the slack.

- Bane/Boon: +Spd nets us more doubles and prevents us from being doubled more often. With a neutral Def iv and Fury we get a nice 22 Def, which is enough to take one hit from most archers at 30 HP and no buffs.
- Passive A: Fury 3
Fury gives Nino much better ability to bait attackers including Reinhardt and most Archer or Dagger users as well as easy access to Desperation.
- Passive B: Desperation 3
Desperation lets us safely double most units, even reds, and with Fury we can easily set it up.
- Passive C: Res Ploy 3
Might help a little. Arena Score though.
- Sacred Seal: Distant Defense 3
Helps with dueling other range units. You will pretty much always beat Reinhardt and it helps with Archers like Brave Lyn. With the added boosts from this and Summoner Support you'll find Nino can actually be quite bulky.
- Weapon: Gronnblade+
She comes with this naturally, I really wouldn't ever replace it. There are better Raventome users.
- Support Skill: Draw Back
She comes with Draw Back, so I just leave it on her. You might prefer Reposition or another Support Skill, it doesn't really impact the overall build much. She's usually going to attack.
- Special: Moonbow
Standard low cooldown Special. With Summoner Support S on top of Fury you can reach 31 Res before buffs making Iceberg an option, but remember that Gronnblade adds +1 to special trigger.

Luna or AoE specials + Quickened Pulse work excellently with Tempest Trials since the cooldown count carries over between maps and Quickened Pulse triggers at the start of each map.

nino has typically bad IV's but she was one of my first heroes and probably the first who was legit worth something so even after getting 3 other nino's, all with better iv's, i just merged them into her bc i legit couldn't kill her. Also she can reliably tank hector and the black knight so
