Boons
-
+SPD: A boon in Speed is coveted for Nino, as it further expands on her already exceptional base value of 38. Not only does this grant her more longevity in both performing and avoiding follow-up attacks; it also adds to the potential damage output of Giga Excalibur.
-
+ATK: Attack is another solid choice of boon, is it further increases her raw damage. In particular, this can be more effective against slower opponents with high bulk.
Neutral
-
DEF: Despite its low base value, Nino prefers to keep her Defense intact in order to better survive a single counterattack from non-red physical opponents.
-
HP: A bane in HP is comparable to a bane in Defense but takes away from her overall bulk, making it even more desirable to keep neutral than the aforementioned.
Banes
- -RES: Although Resistance isn’t Nino’s weakest stat, dropping it affects her overall performance the least. Her base value of 25 isn’t high enough to make effective use of Ploy skills and her magical bulk remains high enough to survive at least one hit from non-red mages.

This build aims to make effective use of Nino's unique weapon, Giga Excalibur. Since the nature of this weapon is purely offensive, Nino appreciates a boon in key stats such as Attack and Speed in order to maximize her damage. Speed makes for an especially strong choice with Giga Excalibur, as it simultaneously boosts Nino’s raw damage and ability to perform follow-up attacks.
For her Assist, Ardent Sacrifice has great synergy with Desperation. Nino’s poor physical bulk of 53 can make her susceptible to getting killed in only one hit; by dropping her HP without the need to engage in combat, Nino can safely get into Desperation’s 75% HP threshold. Otherwise, any choice of movement skill such as Reposition will make for a suitable Assist. For her Special, Moonbow is a strong choice thanks to its frequent activation while Luna can be combined with the Heavy Blade Sacred Seal for a more powerful, albeit less consistent alternative.
Nino’s native Swift Sparrow is the premium choice of A skill, as it provides a strong boost to her offensive stats on initiation without the need to forego anything else. A higher risk higher reward option is Life and Death, boosting her offensive stats even higher at the cost of severely damaging her overall bulk. This makes her even more susceptible to getting OHKO’d by both physical and magic damage alike. Finally, Fury makes for another solid choice by making it easier to get into Desperation range by increasing her overall bulk at the cost of a marginally weaker offense.
Desperation is the key to any glass cannon mage; once in the HP range, Nino will be able to safely double her opponent without the risk of getting killed on the counterattack. For Nino's C skill, Odd Speed Wave makes for a fantastic choice, as it further boosts her self-sufficiency by granting her a substantial +6 boost to her Speed on even-numbered turns. For a more team-synergetic option, Hone Fliers allows Nino to be a benefactor on a flier-centric team in which she is most effective on. Guidance also makes for a good choice on a mixed team composition by providing movement support to both infantry and armored teammates.
Last but not least, Nino has several options for Sacred Seals. If she isn’t already utilizing Guidance in her C slot, it can also be run in the Sacred Seal slot. Heavy Blade can also make for an effective option, as it will allow Nino to activate her Special more frequently. It is particularly effective with an Attack boon. Although Phantom Spd does not improve upon Nino’s ability to double her opponent, it does factor into the damage of her weapon, making it a phenomenal choice of Sacred Seal. Finally, both Speed +3 and Attack +3 make for good picks in order to give Nino a solid offensive stat boost.

In addition to her personal tome, Nino can perform extremely well with a standard Blade tome build. As with most Blade tome users, Speed is Nino’s most important stat. This makes a boon in it the choice nature in order to maximize her damage output by securing additional follow-up attacks. A boon in Attack also makes for a suitable choice, as it increases her raw damage output. This makes it a more effective choice against slower bulkier opponents. In particular, this can potentially be the deciding factor in her matchup against Young Tiki.
The rest of this build bears many similarities to the standard Blade tome set-up. One notable difference is Nino’s choice of Special. Glimmer is a great choice of Special on any Blade Tome user, as it scales with the additional damage received from Hone/Fortify buffs and activates within a reasonable timeframe despite the cooldown penalty tied to Blade tomes. Alternatively, Moonbow can be used as a more effective option against opponents with high Resistance such as Sheena and Halloween Henry. For her A slot, Swift Sparrow, Life and Death, and Fury all remain great choices for boosting Nino’s offensive prowess.
Once again, Desperation is key to Nino’s survivability, as she needs it in order to double her opponent while avoiding lethal counterattacks. As for C skills, both Hone Fliers and Guidance remain great team-synergistic options in their own right. Otherwise, the C slot can be replaced as needed to suit the team. If she isn’t already utilizing Guidance in her C slot, it can also be run in the Sacred Seal slot. Heavy Blade is another option with a consistent activation thanks to the damage scaling property of Blade tomes. This allows Nino to activate her Special more frequently. Finally, both Speed +3 and Attack +3 remain good picks in order to give Nino a solid offensive stat boost.
Introduction
With a starkly similar appearance to her infantry self, Nino remains a shining example of what it means to be a powerful offensive mage. However, unlike her previous iteration, Nino decides to take to the skies this time around. By adopting the status of a flier unit, not only does she have an innate advantage when it comes to mobility, but Nino also has access to powerful class-exclusive buffs such as Hone Fliers. In addition to this, Nino also brings a powerful new weapon in the form of Giga Excalibur.
Statwise, Nino sets a new standard for offensive mounted mages. While retaining her solid 33 Attack, Nino steps it up a notch in Speed by sporting an exceptional base value of 38. Not only does this make her incredibly effective in both performing and avoiding follow-up attacks, it synergizes perfectly with the Speed-scaling damage effect of her personal weapon. With a boon, Nino reaches a staggering base 44 Speed with Giga Excalibur equipped. However, Nino slows down to a crawl when it comes to taking damage. At a base value of 53, Nino’s physical bulk is downright terrible. This makes her often rely on Desperation in order to avoid counterattacks from Distant Counter units, as they will likely take her out in only a single hit. In addition to this, her magical bulk is nothing impressive either at a base value of 61.
Overall, Nino embodies all the traits of a strong glass cannon. Her personal tome: Giga Excalibur, access to class-exclusive buffs, and a great offensive statline make her one of the most powerful offensive mages around.
Strengths
Incredible Speed
Nino’s fantastic 38 base Speed is currently the highest out of any tome user in the entire game. This makes her highly proficient in both performing and avoiding follow-up attacks.
Giga Excalibur
Nino’s unique weapon compliments her offensive playstyle perfectly, as it takes full advantage of her immense Speed by scaling damage based on the Speed difference between Nino and her opponent.
Flier
In addition to her superior mobility, Nino has access to class-exclusive buffs such as Hone Fliers.
Weaknesses
Atrocious physical bulk
With only 53 physical bulk at base, Nino is highly susceptible to getting taken out in only one hit by most physical attackers. In addition to this, her low 36 HP leaves her open to almost any user of Panic Ploy.
Vulnerable to effective damage
Flier status comes with its disadvantages. Nino’s innate weakness to bows coupled with her low physical bulk makes her a prime target for archers.
Team Options
Counters
Due to her poor physical bulk, Nino is quick to fold in the face of physical damage. As such, strong Defense-targeting attackers will make short work of her sparse bulk. In addition to this, magically bulky green units also pose a major threat, as they will be able to tank Nino’s attacks while dealing significant damage in return. Last but not least, Nino’s status as a Flier unit gives her an innate weakness to opponents wielding flier-effective weapons.
-
Strong physical attackers: Powerful physical attackers such as Ayra, Karla, Hector, and those who deal adaptive damage such as Fallen Robin (M) all make short work of Nino’s meager physical bulk.
-
Magically bulky reds: Sanaki, Winter Tharja, and Katarina can all wall off Nino’s damage thanks to their high Resistance and Weapon Triangle advantage.
-
Buff ignoring skills: Julia and Deirdre can also mitigate Nino’s damage output by ignoring Hone/Fortify buffs that she receives with Divine Naga. This also applies to any unit running the skill Dull Ranged.
- Effective weapons: Archers such as Brave Lyn, Halloween Jakob, Hinoka (WF), and Bridal Cordelia won’t even need a second shot to blast her out of the sky. This also applies to Merric, whose personal tome, Excalibur, also does effective damage against fliers.

Absolute killer Nino. Using the basic Fury Desperation combo basically guarantees that Nino will hit a moonbow every single turn. I would prefer a spd boon over an atk boon but it atk works just as well. With the Guidance seal, it makes it easier for the infantry units to get around tight spaces like the forest and over small rivers.

I recommend using Nino + Spd (Mine + Spd - Hp) ^^
Just... too strong with Bridal Ninian!
A perfect couple!
Bridal Ninian with Triangle Adept helps Nino so much.
Hit and Run with Dance & Reposition, keep her and Ninian were safe!
Moonbow helps her in combat with green or red sages.
Swift Sparrow - her basic skill and good for her.
Iote's Shield gives Nino a chance to survive after combat with the archers. Then, Desperation 3 will be active and she can defeat another archer.
Goad Fliers gives her partner, Bridal Ninian, some extra attack and speed points in combat. In fact, Goad Fliers can be inherited easier than Hone Fliers ^*^

Speedy Flying Nino
This build focuses on maximizing Ninos speed just because; it’s not going to be a “meta” build but instead something fun to think about (and maybe even try if you have the resources!).
This build uses +Spd and -Hp, which makes it have high risk and high reward (sorta). In perfect conditions this Nino can have up to a whopping 110 Spd, enough to double everyone except those with Wary Fighter, Green Tomebreaker, and other similar skills.
Here are the calculations:
44 - +Spd Nature w/ prf weapon
+4 - If merged to +10
+7 -Brazen range; Ardent Sacrifice used once
+7(theoretically) - If attacking chill def target
+6 - On even turns
+10(technically) - Phantom spd
+2 - A/S Level summoner support
+2 - S Ally Support
+4 - TT/Arena Bonus
+3 - Proper Blessing environment
+12 - 3 Goad flier buffs
+9 - If with prf refined Camillas
*Side note: 3 Spd can be gained with proper blessings, but wouldn’t be as optimal as 3 Camillas.
Having this much Spd may not be need in normal modes (or even possible) but a build like this is just something you’d have a “whale” of a time getting and setting up for.
Idk, it’s just that every time I do Tempest trial she has like 40+ base Spd and that acrobatic skill has killed so many of my runs. Also the chain challenge ch. 9 and 10 with her are pretty brutal too; 9 has Ishtar who is a nuker and Lene who camps in the back, then you get to 10 which has her with that (sometimes) unpredictable Acrobatics skill and it’s just rip in pieces from there on out.
Anyways, hope you enjoy your 110 Spd Nino (or just reading this for some reason).
PS: HP/Atk/def/res IS LESS THAN Spd (obvi)
(sorry for caps, the “less than” sign is weird for websites/HTML to display)
(also I spent too much time on this)

Giga Excalibur combined with Phantom Spd 3 can give Nino a total of up to 51 Spd during combat which allows Nino to have an advantage over most foes.
She will lose HP quickly so Desperation is a good skill to use on her; combined with a Wings of Mercy refresher, this can be especially deadly. Running her on a Flier Emblem team means Aerobatics is useless to her.
