Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.
Complementary stats that matter, but not to the point of picking them over key stats for nature increase.
Relatively worthless stat that can safely be decreased through nature.
HPATKSPDDEFRES

+SPD Boon gives Nino the ability to double attack speedier red units and KO them while +ATK boon gives Nino the chance to double attack bulkier red units and KO them as well as OHKO Effie. SPD begins to matter when the enemies receive a Hone SPD buff as well or are using a +1 SPD Seal.

-HP bane allows her to fight against double attacks more effectively, but -DEF can be chosen instead to better combat mages such as Reinhardt or -RES to better combat physical units (especially Blue Brave users).

Speed boosting natures are very valuable for Nino, as they give her more double attacks while letting her focus on boosting her attack. With an Attack boost on top, Nino can KO Marth, Corrin(M) and Olivia.

Skill Sets
Cannon That Is Made Out Of Glass (Life and Death + Desperation)
Optimal
Gronnblade+ A Life and Death 3
Budget: Darting Blow 3
Ardent Sacrifice B Desperation 3
Moonbow C Hone Atk 3
SP1,625SSpeed +1

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Preferred Nature: +Attack/ -Defense
  • Weapon: Gronnblade+
  • Support Skill: Ardent Sacrifice
  • Special: Moonbow
  • A Slot: Life and Death 3 / Death Blow 3 / Darting Blow 3 / Swift Sparrow 2
  • B Slot: Desperation 3
  • C Slot: Threaten Res 3 / Varies on team
  • Sacred Seal: ATK/SPD +1

Her bread-and-butter build, Nino will double nearly everything with Life and Death + Hone Speed. If you have a +SPD boon, you can consider using Death Blow 3 to alleviate some of the bulk lost as you will still double many things with a +SPD buff. Darting Blow 3 can also be used with the same success for +ATK boons. If you happen to have the super-exclusive Swift Sparrow 2, your Nino will achieve optimal performance as a +ATK (or +SPD) Nino while keeping much of her bulk to fend off enemies. Be wary of enemy Reinhardt's and Linde's if you do wield Life and Death 3. It's also advisable to use Ardent Sacrifice if you cannot safely lower your health through another method. Threaten Res 3 is used to ready melee red units for their funeral. Moonbow is the most effective special because Nino already KOs many units, so the resist piercing for the slightly bulkier enemies is most useful. Once Desperation is activated, not many (non-Red) units can stop her rampage, and even many red units will quake in their boots.

I Think I Can Take A Hit (Fury + Desperation)
Optimal
Gronnblade+ A Fury 3
Draw Back B Desperation 3
Moonbow C Threaten Res 3
SP1,650SSpeed +1

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Preferred Nature: +Speed, +Attack/ -Defense
  • Weapon: Gronnblade+
  • Support Skill: Draw Back / Reposition / Ardent Sacrifice
  • Special: Moonbow / Luna / Dragon Fang
  • A Slot: Fury 3
  • B Slot: Desperation 3 / G Tomebreaker 3
  • C Slot: Threaten Res 3 / Varies on team
  • Sacred Seal: SPD +1

Nino's other optimal build, she will retain most of her offensive prowess while bulking her up for that "one exchange" where she takes a hit. Ideally, Fury will let you survive those few attacks you would die to otherwise and KO the enemy in the process. And even when she doesn't need to take damage, Fury will place her into Desperation range after two attacks, saving you the turn on Ardent Sacrifice.

Fang Reborn (Gronnraven + Triangle Adept)
Gronnraven+ A Triangle Adept 3
Reposition B G Tomebreaker 3
Moonbow C Threaten Res 3
SP1,875SSpeed +1

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Preferred Nature: +Attack/ -Resist
  • Weapon: Gronnraven+
  • Support Skill: Reposition / Ardent Sacrifice
  • Special: Moonbow / Luna
  • A Slot: Triangle Adept 3
  • B Slot: G. Tomebreaker 3 / Windsweep 3 / Watersweep 3 / Desperation 3
  • C Slot: Threaten Res 3 / Varies on team
  • Sacred Seal: ATK/SPD +1

Not oft-seen, Nino can be a very scary presence for blue and colorless units with a Gronnraven+ weapon. Add the Triangle Adept passive, and she will 1HKO most units that are at a disadvantage against her. G. Tomebreaker 3 is used to beat mirror matches and other green mages with G. Tomebreaker. Windsweep 3 can be used to a similar effect to deal with Hector or deal some damage to Ryoma and Ike without dying. Watersweep 3 can be used to duel mages and Dragons while avoiding backlash. Desperation 3 is still a viable option for Gronnraven+ especially with a positive Speed nature, but make sure to use Ardent Sacrifice over Reposition and SPD +1 seal over ATK +1.

I Won't Go Down Easy (Vantage)
Gronnblade+ A Fury 3
Draw Back B Vantage 3
Moonbow C Hone Atk 3
SP1,550SHP +3

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Preferred Nature: +Attack/ -Defense
  • Weapon: Gronnblade+
  • Support Skill: Draw Back / Rally Speed
  • Special: Moonbow
  • A Slot: Fury 3
  • B Slot: Vantage 3
  • C Slot: Hone Atk 3 / Varies on team
  • Sacred Seal: HP +3

More useful on Defense, this build aims to surprise careless enemies with Vantage KOs. Draw Back ensures that her teammates stay in front of AND adjacent to her while Rally Speed and Hone Atk 3 offer a deadly buff that can take advantage of enemies who did not lay out their plans carefully. HP +3 allows Nino to avoid certain KOs making it much more difficult for Nino to be killed. Fury 3 adds to Nino's bulk and damage further complicating enemy "OHKO strategies."

Introduction

Pros:

  • One of the best offensive green mages
  • Able to bait red units easily and KO them

Cons:

  • Poor bulk
  • Red units are prevalent
  • Requires team support to excel

Nino is a green tome-user known for her amazing offensive presence and high resistance. She deals impressive magical damage that seriously injures or kills any unit in the game. Her poor bulk compels her to function as a glass cannon as she is easily KO'd by physical damage, and must be handled with care to yield results.

Strengths

Incredible Attack

  • Second highest among green mages.
  • Allows her to hit hard and KO in one or two attacks.
  • Works well with Vantage.

Impressive Speed

  • Highest speed among green mages.
  • Double attacks most units in the game while rarely being double attacked herself.

Moderate Resistance

  • Effectively baits and kills blue and green mages.
Weaknesses

Low HP and DEF

  • With HP and DEF at the bottom end of the spectrum, it does not take a lot to kill Nino.
  • Low HP lets her activate Desperation/Vantage more easily using Fury and Ardent Sacrifice.
  • A misstep will get her killed easily prematurely ending youu perfect Arena run.

Needs Support

  • While powerful alone, she truly needs an ally buffing her up to make her shine.
  • Allows her to KO many units she would otherwise lose against.

Nino's charm lies in her amazing offensive stats. Boasting the same speed as Linde and nearly the same firepower, Nino is able to decimate low resistance units with ease regardless of color. With speed that gives her the opportunity to double most of the heroes and the high attack to pierce through some of the hardest resistances, she can be a very simple solution to many problem units you run across.

Common units Nino can naturally OHKO include:

Throw in her Gronnblade+'s passive and a Hone ATK + Hone SPD buff and the number of units she can execute skyrockets.  The cemetery will grow to include units such as:

Because Nino is a glass cannon when dealing with physical damage, she must avoid taking damage from most units at any cost. You will need to avoid double-attacks from brave weapons and, depending on your Nino's build, many single attacks from many popular units.

Team Options

Nino's favorite teammates because they can buff her with their legendary weapon as well as their Support, C-passive and Seal slot all at once:

Dancers/Singers that give her another turn to Attack or Reposition:

  • Azura (Exceptional with Nino because she handles Nino's primary threats)
  • Ninian (Can also deal with Nino's primary threats)
  • Olivia (Able to bait blue units or weaken green units for Nino to finish off)
Counters

Units that can attack her with physical damage and KO her from any distance:

Units that can survive the spunky green mage and KO on the enemy phase are also cause for concern:
