Camilla’s Attack and Speed are both reasonably well off, and unlike her fellow red fliers, her Defense and HP allows her to be a proper duelist. She takes a hit to her Resistance in exchange, all of which give us excellent starting points for IVs.
Boons
- +ATK: While it takes a backseat to her Speed, Camilla’s Attack is decent and can be built off of if you’re lucky enough to land with a boon in it.
- +SPD: Camilla’s Speed is very nice at 35 and can enable many Speed-based builds. This should be the first priority when looking for IVs.
Neutral
-
DEF: Camilla’s Defense is serviceable for her to take a hit or two, which is all she generally needs from it. Lowering it decreases her chances of survival, but raising it would take stats from more valuable places like her Attack or Speed.
Banes
- -HP: Camilla’s HP is a superbane, but it’s also one of the few stats she’d be willing to drop if necessary.
- -RES: Her Resistance is her lowest stat and while it’s a superboon, it generally isn’t worth trading any other stat for.

Camilla crashes the Hoshidan New Year festival with excellent Attack, Speed, and Defense stats and makes use of them by running this build more effectively than any other red flier.
With a focus in Speed, Camilla can hit 47 Speed without an ally buff, which is generally enough to double most units in the game, save for a few sword units. She can take Chill Speed or Swordbreaker to double them instead, but Desperation typically gives her more utility later on in the fight.
The idea of this build is to consistently double opponents through Speed stacking, which has different outcomes based on how much HP Camilla currently has. On the first initiation, she will proc a Wo Dao-amplified Moonbow on her second attack for an additional (1/3rd of enemy Defense+10) damage and will take 6 after combat damage from Fury. Keep in mind that a Slaying Edge and Bonfire combination will out-damage Wo Dao/Moonbow if the enemy’s Defense is below 21.
She’s able to repeat this process over and over again until her HP is under the threshold for Desperation to proc. Once activated, Desperation turns Camilla into a pseudo-brave unit with 50 damage per strike and continued sizeable Moonbow procs. This keeps her safe to initiate during Player Phase when her HP gets too low for her to tank an enemy hit, while also allowing her to maintain combat utility no matter how much damage she’s taken.
Camilla doesn’t necessarily need to start off an engagement by initiating. With 74 effective HP + Defense (70 if taking a bane in HP), Camilla is more than able to bait out a unit’s offensive attack and retaliate, typically with a Bonfire-activating double. Her flexibility during the first few turns of combat allows her to meet the many demands of a red unit in the current meta, and her ability to be a red nuke after her HP drops ensures that she can always find a use on the battlefield.

- Passive B: Chill Speed / Hit and Run
- Passive C: Ward Fliers / Threaten Def / Threaten Spd
- Sacred Seal: Heavy Blade / Quickened Pulse / Spd + 3
Due to her appreciable Attack and Speed stats, Camilla is also capable of functioning as an untouchable sweeper with a Firesweep set. While she loses a bit of Speed due to the lack of forge options on Firesweep weapons and running Heavy Blade, Camilla gains it back and then some with a combination of Life and Death and Chill Speed.
Because her defenses don’t particularly matter when she’s not going to be countered, Camilla is able to take Life and Death to generously increase both her Attack and Speed, granting her an offensive statline of 53/43. If she takes advantage of Chill Speed, she can attack a unit with 45 Speed and double them without any buffs of her own.
It generally is recommended to run Camilla with some semblance of buffs, however- even a teammate with Goad Fliers would increase her chances of both doubling and activating Heavy Blade immensely, while keeping the flexibility of not necessarily having to be adjacent all the time.
The goal is for Heavy Blade to activate on her 53 (plus buff) Attack stat, while simultaneously doubling on her 43 (plus buff/debuff) Speed stat, in order to activate Moonbow on every initiation she makes, furthering her overall damage output.
Without Chill Speed, Camilla can run a more reserved offense by equipping Hit and Run (or Drag Back) instead, which draws her away from the enemy’s range and allows for safer positioning: something which is very important when running a Firesweep build
Her C slot is flexible. She can attempt to run Threaten Speed or Threaten Defense, but they require riskier positioning and may not activate as often as it seems. She can instead give her fellow teammates Ward or Fortify buffs, as she has no use for defensive buffs herself.

- Passive B: Quick Riposte / Chill Speed / Swordbreaker
- Passive C: Goad Fliers / Ward Fliers / Threaten Def
- Sacred Seal: Close Defense / Quick Riposte
Unlike the previous two sets, this one allows Camilla to tank in the Enemy Phase, utilizing her Speed to avoid doubles from her opponent and ensuring doubles herself with Quick Riposte. With all of the enhancements in the proposed build, her Defense grows to 48, enabling her to tank a myriad of threats from the enemy team.
Slaying Edge will help her proc Bonfire earlier, turning that 48 Defense into an additional 24 damage which is guaranteed to activate in her first combat. Conversely, Wo Dao pushes the proc up to 34 damage, but lacks the speedy first turn activation that Slaying Edge has over it.
This set is fairly standard when it comes to Enemy Phase. Camilla can utilize her native Spd Def Bond as a cheap alternative to any of the more expensive options in order to further prevent doubles, though the Bond skills require more thought put into positioning for them to work properly. Still, it’s generally easier to position properly for Bond skills when your unit is strictly bait/Enemy Phase oriented.
Chill Speed and Swordbreaker can also be used to prevent doubles and help Camilla to secure her own, though without using Spd Def bond, securing her own doubles may be difficult as she will only have 35 Speed. If not using Quick Riposte in her B slot, it may be necessary to run it as her Sacred Seal. Otherwise, Close Defense is the most prominent choice as it boosts her most relevant stat to the build.
Introduction
As the fourth red sword flier in the game, New Year Camilla boasts an excellent dueling statline, with good Attack, fantastic Speed, and acceptable Defense at the behest of her Resistance. This allows her to function as a frontline unit, capable of taking a few heavy hits and bouncing back to retaliate right on the spot. Conversely, she’s also exceptional at darting in and assassinating key enemy units when the need calls for it.
Her natural set boosts both her and her allies’ defensive abilities, making her fit in well on a highly-defensive team. Camilla alone can give a fellow flier a spur with +6 Defense / + 6 Resistance; with a Fortify Fliers added in from another teammate, potentially two flying allies can get +12 / +12 to their defenses. This makes her a fantastic support unit for a Defense-heavy flier team right out of the box, and with a little further tweaking, she can become a star attacker in her own right.
Strengths
Excellent Stat Spread
Camilla is the first flier to be introduced after the raised BST benchmarks, giving her 161-163 BST and placing her in a higher BST bin than the majority of the other fliers in the game.
It’s not just that she has more stats, it’s that her stats are all allocated very well, with a focus in Speed, a secondary focus in Attack, and a tertiary focus in Defense- all of these make her a fantastic duelist.
She has enough Speed to double most units if prioritized, enough Defense to be a worthwhile tank, and enough Attack to generally finish off her opponents.
Good Base Kit
Camilla naturally comes with a weapon that spurs Def/Res of nearby allies by two, an A skill that increases her own Defense and Speed, and Ward Fliers.
These are all valuable skills and can give her a lot of flexibility in her build and team options. She makes it very easy to stack defenses for the tanks on her team and can support her allies right out of the box.
If she’s to be made a star standalone unit, however, her skills and weapon will need to be replaced which may prove to be expensive.
Weaknesses
Low Resistance
Camilla’s low Resistance is by far her biggest weakness and she has a difficult time dueling dragons or baiting mages because of it.
She is a poor choice for a Distant Counter build because of this and her Enemy Phase set suffers due to not being able to bait a very prevalent type of unit.
Limited Availability
New Year Camilla’s seasonal-only availability makes it impossible for her to get more merges or new IVs after her banner is over.
This can make her somewhat inflexible as a unit- if you’re stuck with a poor IV then you will need to work around it, rather than being able to pull a new one.
Team Options
Counters
Due to her low Resistance and emblem-specific weaknesses, Camilla is countered by bows and blue magic.
- Blue Magic: Camilla should run in fear from any Linde, Nowi, Delthea, or Lute on the battlefield.
- Red Magic: Even a well-built red will be threatening to Camilla, such as Adult Tiki, Winter Tharja, and Celica.
- Archers: Bow units like Bridal Cordelia, Brave Lyn, and Leon can all pose serious threats to Camilla regardless of what build they’re running.

New Years Camilla is a great Hero and with this build, she is one of the best fliers when on a flier team and gets to attack twice in one turn and has a very high win percentage against the meta.
Weapon: Slaying Edge+ with Spd Refinement
You use this weapon to get the -1 Charge to your Special. This also has a MT of 14 which is good.
Support: Reposition
Great Support Skill for Fliers
Special: Galeforce
This is the most important skill in this build and what makes this build crazy good. Will be able to attack twice in a turn.
Death Blow 3
This skill is to help improve Camilla’s mediocre ATK Stat.
Swordbreaker 3
Helps with some of the sword matchups and helps to double and not get doubled.
Fortify Fliers
Use this Flier Buff because I already have two Hone Fliers
Heavy Blade 3
Another very important skill and makes it possible to get Galeforce to activate on turn one.
I made a video that goes into detail about the build and gives some good info. See link below:

This set works best in a flier team partnered with a unit that has Hone Fliers, preferably New Year Azura, and get more mileage during the enemy phase. The idea is to bait melee units into attacking her and soak up damage with Spd/Def Bond 3. If New Year Azura with her default weapon is her partner, she would also have a bit more defense boost. Even fast units will have a hard time doubling her with the speed boost from her bond skill and an ally's hone skill. She should be able to double most enemies upon counterattack and if she's healthy enough, Quick Riposte 3 or even just QR2 will guarantee that. By the time the 2nd attack happens, her special should be ready to proc with the help of Slaying Edge+ or any of its derivatives. Either her default Draconic Aura or Bonfire would work as the ideal 3-charge special (lowered to 2) depending on what kind of refinement you want for the weapon. I personally went for Bonfire and Slaying Edge+ Def. But if damage is desired, she can easily reach more than 50 Atk with the buffs.
To a certain extent, you can bait out ranged units as well. Bows will not grant bonus damage against Camilla with Iote's Shield sacred seal. She shouldn't get doubled with the speed buff and can trigger her special when she attacks in the next turn. If partnered with New Year Azura, Azura can use Sing on Camilla after she had attacked the ranged unit then use Reposition on Azura to retreat her further back and reset the bait Camilla setup. The strategy can also be employed against some tome users if an HP bane was taken instead of Res.

With a speed boon, speed refined slaying edge and Spd/Def Bond 3 active Camilla hits 46 speed before any buffs. Combine that with Close Defense seal giving 42 defense when under attack before buffs and only a brave lance or swordbreaker are physical threats to her. Given she's likely to double, her two turn bonfire will trigger on her followup or on her first if attacked with a brave weapon. She'll then be in desperation range and can go on the hunt. C slot and seal can be anything the team needs and the A slot could swap for Fury if relying on an adjacent ally is not always practical.

This build turns Camilla into a threatening bulky flier who can take on melee and ranged units efficiently. With +spd and a speed refinery, she hits 41 speed, good enough to avoid doubles from many units. Furthermore, at 45/31/20 bulk, Camilla has the bulk to go toe-to-toe with many units, especially physical units.
Her main issue is her middling attack, which is patched up through Wo Dao and Quick Riposte, allowing her to quickly get off boosted Moonbow procs with little effort, and giving her more burst damage when necessary. While QR can be run in the B slot, it can also be used as a seal, giving her flexibility with powerful skills such as Renewal to sustain her bulk or Vantage to catch players off guard on arena defense.
