Hauteclere A Iote's Shield
Reposition B Quick Riposte 3
Ignis C Threaten Def 3

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Weapon: Hauteclere
  • Support: Reposition / Draw Back / Swap / Reciprocal Aid
  • Specials: Ignis / Bonfire / Blazing Thunder / Dragon's Fang
  • A slot: Iote's Shield / Fury / Close Def
  • B slot: Quick Riposte / Lancebreaker / Axebreaker
  • C slot: Threaten Def / Goad Fliers / Varies on team
  • Sacred Seals: HP+3 / Quickened Pulse

Michalis is quite F2P friendly as he does not require any 5 stars sacrifice to be a strong and usable units. This set is the standard bait enemies in and kill on counter that units like him and Eldigan do well thanks to their legendary weapon and bulk.

Being a Flier, Michalis makes great use of positioning assists, especially in Flier Team, and Reposition is the best of the bunch but any of those can work. Reciprocal Aid allows him to donate his good HP pool to someone else in emergency situation.

Thanks to Hauteclere, Michalis has a good variety of Specials that he can use to great effect:

  • Ignis is outright his best Special for this build, as it goes nicely with his enormous Defense, allowing him to deal massive amount of damage to even Red units when it's up
  • Bonfire is a budget option and often will get consumed during his initial engagement
  • Blazing Thunder is his default Special, and is also a decent budget option. Its power is immense thanks to Michalis's high attack, but it can only activate during Player's Phase which makes it limited
  • Dragon's Fang is a substitute for Ignis as a 4 charges strong Special. Ignis will yield 28 bonus damage while Dragon's Fang yield 25 bonus damage, so the difference is small

For A Slot, Michalis can make do with Iote's Shield. As long as he has a speed buff from allies, this allows him to tank Brave Bow Archers thanks to his high Defense and good HP. Fury is an alternative as it boost his stats quite nicely, but he won't be able to tank Archers anymore. Close Def is great on Michalis, as he can also fight dragon units like Nowi a lot better and it improve his physical dueling potential massively

Quick Riposte is the best B slot for Michalis, as with it he can heavily punish any units attacking him with Hauteclere and Ignis. Lancebreaker or Axebreaker can be decent alternatives if players want him to take a more specialized role. Nonetheless Michalis should have no problem dealing with most Lance users, and thus Lancebreaker is mostly just for Effie.

His last slot depends on team composition. His default skill Threaten Def is fantastic, and can be kept. If Michalis is in Flier team however, Hone/Goad Fliers would be ideal on him.

High-End Destructor
Hauteclere A Heavy Blade 3
Reposition B Quick Riposte 3
Aether C Threaten Def 3

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Weapon: Hauteclere
  • Support: Reposition / Draw Back / Swap / Reciprocal Aid
  • Specials: Aether / Ignis
  • A slot: Heavy Blade / Distant Counter /  Fury / Death Blow / Close Def
  • B slot: Quick Riposte / Vantage
  • C slot: Threaten Def / Goad Fliers / Varies on team
  • Sacred Seals: HP+3 / Quickened Pulse

This set works similarly to previous set, but with higher damage potential as well as stronger Opponent's Phase.

Heavy Blade is fantastic on Michalis thanks to his amazing base attack and Hauteclere, allow him to procs either Aether for a burst of heal and damage or Ignis for massive punishment within short time-frame. Coupled it with Quickened Pulse and Quick Riposte, Michalis can even proc Aether during his first round of combat, making him a formidable threat.

Distant Counter Michalis is not as good as someone like Titania or Fae, who are more comfortable tanking mages than him. His Flier status also make him weak against Archers. Nonetheless thanks to his massive attack and his special being up quite often, he can bait and kill mages or archers with Ignis charged counters with Vantage. During week with maps that have Defensive Tiles, Distant Counter Michalis becomes a lot better and worth consider over Heavy Blade.

Death Blow is a decent A slot skill that allow him to deals massive damage during Player's Phase, and can be favored if Player prefers a more aggressive approach.

King of The Whitewings (Flier Team Offensive Build)
Hauteclere A Swift Sparrow 2
Reposition B Desperation 3
Galeforce C Goad Fliers

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Weapon: Hauteclere
  • Support: Reposition / Draw Back / Swap / Reciprocal Aid
  • Specials: Dragon's Fang / Galeforce
  • A slot: Swift Sparrow / Life and Death
  • B slot: Desperation / Vantage
  • C slot: Goad Flier
  • Sacred Seals: Quickened Pulse

Normally Michalis is slow and even with some investments, he won't reach high speed meta tier. In Flier Team setting, that's a different story. With Swift Sparrow and Hone + Goad Flier buffs, he can potentially reach 42-44 speed on initiation and boast immense offensive power while retaining his tankiness.

Life and Death is an alternative but it hurts his tankiness, although the gain in Speed and his base Def remaining around 30 are still enough for him to perform well as a tanky duelist when needed.

Dragon's Fang is chosen over Ignis due to the high amount of Attack he possesses with this build, allowing him to destroy even Red units on initiation if he has his special up. Galeforce is another good alternative for Michalis, as with Quickened Pulse and Hauteclere it reaches a whopping 3 turns cooldown at the beginning of the match for such a strong Special, allowing him to sweep or retreat easily.

Desperation is chosen so he will remain strong and useful even at lower HP, but if Players prefer to give him more power during Opponent's Phase, Vantage can be used.

Duly note that this build will only work with Flier buffs. Outside of Flier team Michalis lacks the necessary bump in Speed to make proper use of this build, and thus should go for the Tank builds instead

Michalis is a bulky Green Axe Flier with high attack, HP and Defense, but mediocre Speed and Resistance. He comes with the legendary weapon Hauteclere, which further bolsters his power. Michalis is strong as both a standalone unit and in Flier Team, so he is a good candidate to Unlock Potential and a great addition for any players looking for a solid Green unit.

Due to his stats combination, Michalis is best built as a Tank, who can absorb attacks from physical damage dealers, charge his specials while kill them with counterattacks. He can perform well as an offensive unit, but in general will pale in comparison to his sister - Minerva or Cherche at this role.

Strong Legendary Weapon:

  • Michalis comes with Hauteclere, one of the best legendary weapons in the game
  • It allows him to be an effective bait unit with strong Specials like Ignis or Bonfire, or play a more aggressive playstyle when combo with skills like Heavy Blade, Galeforce, Blazing Thunder or Aether

Physically bulky:

  • 43 base HP and 35 base Defense makes him a fantastic physical tank
  • He takes little damage from lance users, and can even duel some sword and axe users

High Attack:

  • Michalis has great 34 base attack, only behind Cherche among Green Axe Flier
  • Combined with Hauteclere, he is a fantastic damage dealer in all of his builds

Low Speed:

  • Michalis is noticeably slow even in Flier Team setting, and lack of access to +Speed boon also aggravates this problem
  • He relies mostly on Quick Riposte to deals damage, as well as his bulk to last through confrontation

Low Resistance:

  • His Res makes him quite vulnerable to mages and dragons, particularly those of Red and Green colors
  • Some fast or high damage Blue mages like Linde, Reinhardt, Olwen or Mae can outright kill him, despite color disadvantage

Poor availability in the long run and lack of access to Boon/bane:

  • Being a Grand Battle Hero unit, Michalis's long term availability is poor, as it's hard to get enough copies of him for high merge level
  • He also possesses Neutral Boon/bane, which means some of his issues cannot be solved or improved through getting optimal Boon/Bane

Weak to Archers

  • Being a Flier, Michalis suffers against the popular Bridal Cordelia as she can one round him quite easy even with Iote's Shield
  • Most other Archers will also kill him outright without Iote's Shield
Team Options

Michalis thrives in Flier Team, but he is also a strong standalone unit.

  • Flier units that can provide buffs to him and help him with positioning are good allies, including units like Palla, Hinoka, Caeda, Cordelia, Catria or Shanna
  • Michalis struggles against red mages and dragons, so strong Blue units capable of killing them swiftly are strong team options for him. These units include: Nowi, Linde, Reinhardt, Olwen, Mae or Cordelia
  • Archers also poses a problem to most of his builds, thus strong Raven Tome users such as Sanaki, Sophia, Robin M or Lilina are great allies. Tanky units with Distant Counter capable of handling Archers such as Ike, Hector, Xander, Camus also work as checks against Archers
  • Red mages such as Tharja, Sanaki, Lilina, Sophia, Katarina or Celica will one round Michalis on initiation
  • Both Tiki Young and Tiki Adult can outright tank Michalis and kill him with their magic counterattacks
  • Most redswords can duel Michalis, but tanky ones with good damage like Ike, Ryoma, Xander, Chrom, Alfonse, Eldigan or Zephiel are some of his biggest counters
  • Most Archers can outright kill him if he does not use Iote's Shield. Even with it, his slow speed allow most of them to double and they can 1 round him with Brave Bow build.
  • Fast mages of other colors such as Linde, Nino or Soren can kill him due to his poor base Speed.
