Boons
-
+ATK: This is an excellent boon, as it increases Mia’s relatively unimpressive base 32 Attack to a more acceptable base 35. The extra +3 Attack from her Resolute Blade stacks with this to give her 38/40 offenses, or 54/40 with her weapon’s Mt included.
-
+SPD: This takes Mia’s incredible base Speed and makes it even higher; 43 Speed is enough to easily double all but the fastest units.
Neutral
-
DEF: Best left at neutral -- while a Defense bane would have a similar effect as a Resistance bane, the problem is that it is a superbane (-4 to the stat). A -DEF bane is still functional, however, particularly for a Wrath build.
Banes
-
-RES: This is the recommended bane, as Mia will sport enough magical bulk (60), even with a bane, to survive a single hit from most green mages. Just watch out for fully buffed blade tomes.
- -HP: This is a particularly good bane for Wrath builds, as lowering Mia's overall HP will make it easier for her to enter the requisite HP threshold.

Mia can run a very effective, albeit incredibly high investment Distant Counter set. Thanks to the Flashing Blade Seal, she no longer has to settle for a minimum cooldown Special just to be able to activate her Special every combat. She can choose between her base Resolute Blade or a refined Slaying Edge for her weapon; the difference is that Resolute Blade works best for singular, big Special nukes, while Slaying Edge allows for more frequent, albeit weaker Special nukes.
Luna pairs well with Resolute Blade, as this setup allows Mia to unleash exceptionally powerful nukes (particularly with Wrath). If running the Quickened Pulse Seal and/or a Slaying Edge instead of Resolute Blade, then Moonbow is a better option due to its lower cooldown.
Distant Counter is an excellent skill to run on Mia because her offenses are strong enough that she can easily handle ranged threats. She handles them much better if she can instantly activate a Special on her counterattack, which can be accomplished via the Quickened Pulse Seal or by running a Slaying Edge with Moonbow. However, she has enough Speed that this typically isn’t an issue; it’s rare for Mia to get doubled, and if she gets doubled regardless of Speed then she is better off engaging them on her turn.
The combination of Wrath and Resolute Blade enable Mia to deal incredible damage with her special when she reaches the 75% HP threshold required for Wrath. They more than make up the relatively lower damage from Moonbow, while Luna will deal incredible damage if boosted by both Wrath and Resolute Blade. Wrath has exceptional synergy with a Slaying Edge and Moonbow, as it allows Mia to have her Special charged at the start of each turn.
Even Spd Wave is a powerful buff that helps ensure that Mia can double even with no support from her team. However, it is not essential to her build, and can be replaced as needed to suit the team.
The Flashing Blade Seal is important to allow Mia to activate a higher cooldown Special like Luna every combat, assuming that she can double and gets counterattacked once. Alternatively, Quickened Pulse allows her to instantly activate her Special on her first counterattack if she uses a low cooldown Special like Moonbow. Note that Quickened Pulse with a Slaying Edge and Moonbow allows Mia to activate her Special twice in one turn.

- Passive A: Swift Sparrow / Fury / Life and Death / Brazen Atk/Spd
- Passive B: Desperation
- Passive C: Even Spd Wave / Odd Atk Wave / Flexible
- Sacred Seal: Flashing Blade / Heavy Blade
This build focuses entirely on Mia’s Player Phase prowess. Resolute Blade, Moonbow, Desperation, and Flashing/Heavy Blade Seal allow Mia to activate a powerful Special every round without getting counterattacked. Flashing Blade is a better choice than Heavy Blade due to Mia having better Speed than Attack, but either can work.
While movement Assists like Reposition are always good, it may be worth considering Ardent Sacrifice to allow Mia to enter the 75% HP threshold of Desperation without having to enter combat first; this allows her to run more aggressive A skills like Life and Death or Brazen Atk/Spd due to Ardent Sacrifice circumventing their significant downsides. Otherwise, Swift Sparrow is a strong option due to the Player Phase-oriented nature of this setup, while Fury is a safer and more budget-friendly option due to also increasing Mia’s bulk as well as its better availability.
Even Spd Wave and Odd Atk Wave both allow Mia to buff herself as well as her allies, which allows her to function better with no team support. However, they are not essential to her build, and can be replaced as needed to suit the team.
Introduction
Mia lives up to her reputation as a swordmaster - with the incredible Speed and decent Attack (thanks to her unique weapon), Mia can easily obliterate enemies in one on one duels. Her powerful offenses combined with boosted Special activations result in her being able to even take on blue threats that would typically counter her.
However, Mia's defensive bulk is somewhat middling, leaving her vulnerable to OHKO's by powerful Blue attacks or Brave weapons. Although her damage output in a single round of combat can be devastating, her low defenses can leave her in an easy KO range if she is hit by even moderately strong attacks. This makes it difficult to sweep through entire teams without support, particularly if relying on Wrath over Desperation for more damage output.
Overall, Mia showcases how powerful red units can be with excellent Speed, fantastic offensive prowess, and average defenses. She doesn't bring anything game-breaking to the table, but will easily and consistently pull more than her own weight.
Strengths
Resolute Blade
Mia’s unique weapon is essentially an improved Wo Dao with a significant boost in Attack; this goes a long way to helping her overcome her otherwise unimpressive Attack.
Incredible Speed
At 40 base Speed, Mia is insanely fast. This allows her to not only easily avoid being doubled by all but the fastest enemies, but also easily double a huge number of enemies herself.
Decent Bulk
Sporting 66 physical and 63 magical bulk at neutral, Mia is very tough to KO in a single hit.
Her tankiness is even higher than it may appear from just looking at her natural bulk, as her incredible Speed means that she is will get doubled very rarely.
Infantry
Mia’s status as an infantry unit means that she can benefit from unique team support in the form of Infantry Pulse and Infantry Rush.
Weaknesses
Infantry
While this is much less of a weakness than before due to access to skills like Even Spd Wave, Odd Atk Wave, and Tactics buffs, infantry units still have to contend with lacking the superior mobility of cavalry and fliers. The buffs are still not quite as good as the dual +6/+6 buffs or +4/+4 combat boosts that other unit types have access to, either.
Vulnerable to Debuffs
One of the consequences of Mia’s heavily offensive stat spread is that she is exceptionally vulnerable to debuffs. Chill Spd, Spd Ploy, or Panic Ploy are just some examples of debuffs that can heavily debilitate Mia’s combat capabilities.
Special Reliant
Mia’s Attack on its own is fairly unimpressive; while Resolute Blade does a lot to alleviate this, Mia is still fairly reliant on her Specials for a large portion of her damage output. This means that enemies can nullify a large portion of her damage by running Guard.
Team Options
Counters
-
Strong Blues: Mia is still susceptible to color advantage despite her strengths (particularly if they are not reliant on Speed to double), making units like Reinhardt, Fallen Hardin, Ephraim, and Nephenee strong counters to her.
-
Guard: Mia can be shut down hard if she is prevented from activating her Specials with Guard, particularly if done by bulky units like Lukas, Nowi, and Corrin (F).
-
-
Debuffers: Mia is quite vulnerable to debuffs, and her reliance on her stats make units like Arvis, Lute, Saias, and Soren good choices.
-
Strong Offense: Mia has decent bulk, but she will buckle under sustained offensive pressure, particularly from units who aren’t reliant on Speed to double such as Zelgius, Reinhardt (WT), Elincia, and Olwen.
- Poison Dagger: Mia is also vulnerable to effective damage from Poison Dagger, making units like Sothe and Kagero good potential options.

Simple enough: Mia has usually either higher speed or higher attack than the unit that she is attacking so she will get the cooldown bonus quite easily. If she is -def, she will still be able to survive some of the lance users, and sword units have a hard time ohko:ing her and she will ohko like 99% of green units. Because of vantage, she will be able to take out the foes during enemy phase as well thanks to her said attack either with luna or without luna.

Noontime | C | Atk Smoke 3 |

This build aims to turn Mia to an Enemy Phase unit. Steady Breath, Noontime, and Resolute Blade essentially allows her to always have a reliable healing, as opposed to Sol, who may fail to heal effectively due to a higher cooldown and how recovery Special works.
A Speed boon is taken to make sure she avoids as much follow up as possible. Resistance bane is taken, as she is not supposed to take magical hits in the first place.
Her assist, as with most, is flexible. Reposition is taken due to its immensely useful effect.
Noontime is taken over Aether and Sol due to its 2 turn cooldown. While 30% seems low, her HP is not too high anyway, and with Resolute Blade's Wo Dao effect, she deals a lot of damage on proc, so 30% for her is a good recovery.
Steady Breath increases Mia's physical defense to a respectable 32, which combined with Noontime and Resolute's Blade, makes for a powerful combo.
Quick Riposte may seem questionable at first, since a Speed boon is taken for this build. Well, there is one thing all players have to know. Avoiding a follow up is NOT the same as performing a follow up. While Mia has the highest natural Speed in the game, avoiding a follow from her in this metagame is rather easy, as all it takes to avoid a follow up from her is to have 39 Speed, which is a rather easy number to achieve. Therefore, Quick Riposte is taken to guarantee that Mia will double and the opponents don't. And with Noontime activating every time she gets hit, her getting out of Quick Riposte's range is rather unlikely.
Atk Smoke is used to decrease her opponents' Attack even further. With the healing she will be getting with Noontime, this essentially means that her survivability got increased significantly.
Her Sacred Seal is rather flexible. Attack +3 can be used for a more reliable damage output. Close Defense can be used as well to raise her Defense from a decent 32 to a powerful 38.

Glimmer | C | Def Smoke 3 |

This is Mia's best set to run. +atk grants her more consistent damage and is focused on raw damage compared to Ayra who focuses on speed with her build. Resolute Blade is a legendary Wo Dao sword that also grants her +3 attack to increase her attack stat to a mighty 38.
Heavy Blade being now released as a SS Mia's attack stat is high enough to abuse it, allowing her to replace Flashing Blade for a more offensive A slot. Brazen Atk/Spd 3 is her strongest A slot but is rather expensive and elusive, you can work with Life and Death 3 if you don't have extra Winter Robins around. Moonbow or Glimmer can be used as with these two-turn specials she can proc it in every battle she gets into. Moonbow's damage might be a bit inconsistent though so you might want to go with Glimmer instead.

MIA.IS.A.MONSTER!!!!! Which is my you need to invest other monster units an inherit them into her. Mia already has her WONDERFUL Resolute Blade, and Reposition is optional, but EVERYONE puts Reposition on units like Mia. Galeforce can come from a Cordelia, which you'll have to 5*. Steady Breath will come from a Brave Ike, but will take 2 TURNS off your cooldown charge instead of one during combat, as well as giving Mia a LOVELY defense boost. Desperation comes from Shanna, which is easy, but Desperation is optional, but greatly recommended. But, Shanna only needs to be 4* to get the highest Desperation. Defense Tactic is again, optional, and come from Legendary Ike. Heavy Blade for the seal if SUPER HARD to get, only obtainable from Tempest Trials. But Mia will be double attacking, and taking 8 turns off her cooldown from Heavy Blade and Steady Breath combined. Just make sure she doesn't get by mages, and use her with a singer or dancer. You can give her a similar build to Cordelia and Brave Roy.

Best girl finally came home for me during the B8% banner after my attempt(it was horrible) on her debut banner.
(Notes: She has Summoner support and +1 merge when I made this build)
I was gonna do a "Not-Ayra Build" consisting of Flashing Blade 3+Desp 3+Spd Smoke 3+Phantom Spd Seal. But I changed my mind when I checked the Damage Calculator.
Since she's +Atk, and that tasty +3 Atk from her Prf Wep, might as well use Heavy Blade 3 Seal instead of Flashing Blade to reduce her cooldown. And instead of using Reciprocal Aid or Ardent Sacrifice, I gave her fury to sap away her health to activate her Desperation range(If I have Wrath that could work as well). I gave her Moonbow instead of Luna so she procs her special w/out needing to take a hit. And she should have Moonbow so she procs her special when in Desperation followup
