Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.
Complementary stats that matter, but not to the point of picking them over key stats for nature increase.
Relatively worthless stat that can safely be decreased through nature.

+IV

  • Due to his very meh speed stat, a +Speed IV will benefit Lucius greatly.
  • If utilizing Wrathful Staff, Lucius will adore a +Attack boon.

-IV

  • Due to very important match-ups against Takumi and Lucina, a -Resistance bane is the absolute must-have for Lucius to avoid dying to the two mentioned.
    • Lucius will require a magical hit of 69 attack instead of 72 if he chooses this bane.
    • Yes, this is a very marginal difference.

  • B Slot: Wrathful Staff
  • C Slot: Hone Speed / Flexible
  • Sacred Seal: Attack +1

The Wrathful Staff set.

Assault is taken since it carries the highest Might out of all staves, though other Staves are viable if one would like to debuff the enemy.

Due to his good resistance and attack value, Attack Resistance +2 is chosen for his A slot to accommodate that spread. If said skill is too expensive or simply unavailable, the IV and A slot are dependent on the player's preference (between Speed +3 and Attack +3) and mixing and matching is advised to see what you would like.

  • +Speed IV with Attack +3 Passive, or vice versa
  • Pure attack for greater single hits
  • Pure speed for double attacks
Glittering Monk (Dazzling Staff)

  • C Slot: Hone Speed / Flexible

The basic Dazzling Staff build for Lucius.

The Staff chosen is actually flexible, dependent on the player's needs.

The A slot depends on whether or not offense or defense is preferred. For the former, Speed +3 or Attack +3 is recommended, and for the latter, HP +5 should be taken.

Introduction

Pros:

  • Offensive Healer
  • Great magical soaker
  • Native wielder of the special skill Miracle

Cons:

  • Can absolutely not take a physical attack

Lucius the Light is an infantry staff user with very high attack and resistance.

With a value of 35 resistance, Lucius has the second highest resistance in the game, tied with Jagen and Felicia.

This magical shield is backed up with a good amount of 37 HP and 30 Speed, allowing Lucius to effectively duke it out with mages and dragons.

He can even run a pseudo-mage build due to having very high attack stat, which is rivaled by units such as Elise and Lachesis.

Unfortunately, all of these benefits come with one very big downside: Lucius has the lowest defense in the game at 13.

Overall, Lucius has very good stats if ignoring his defense, and is an excellent healer to have on your team if physical units are kept very far from him. The next Galaxy. That far.

Strengths
  • Great magical bulk
    • At 37 HP and 35 Resistance, Lucius requires 72 magical attack to be dealt in one blow.
    • This number goes down to 54 for Dire Thunder or follow-up attacks.
  • Great attack
    • This allows him to effectively utilize Assault, granting him a potential 42 attack with neutral IVs.
    • Wrathful Staff will bring back Lucius' glory from his origins.
  • Good speed
    • Lucius will naturally prevent units such as Tharja and Marth from doubling him.
Weaknesses
  • Atrocious defense
    • At 13 defense, Lucius requires an easily-achievable 50 attack to die in one hit.
    • This numbers goes even lower to 32 attack when taking Brave Weapons and follow-up attacks into play.
Team Options

Just like other healers, Lucius pairs well with units requiring high HP % for skills such as Wary Fighter or for preventing a unit from becoming dead weight.

Though Lucius in particular requires absolute safety from physical units, and can do well alongside high defense units such as Hector or Lukas.

Counters

If healers are meant to have low defense and high resistance, Lucius takes that to a whole new level, requiring a funeral if an archer so much as mentions Lucius in a conversation.
