  • As a unit with great amounts of resistance, emphasizing Lucius's role as a mage duelist via +Resistance boon is a great idea.

  • With 30 Speed, Lucius has potential for reaching a high amount of speed, and a +Speed boon will aid him in that regard, both for follow-ups and mage match-ups.

  • For healing potency and a greater one-shot threshold, the +Attack IV is recommended.

  • Lucius is really just Elise, but older, a male (?), and without a horse, making a -Defense bane his optimal IV.

A utility-based anti-mage set. With just Distant Defense 6 via A slot and Seal, Lucius will reach a 47 resistance, and coupled with his good speed and nice HP, he can very effectively bait and fight magical units. Even further, should the +Resistance boon be chosen alongside a successful Attack Ploy, he will be facing magical units with a total effective resistance of 55 points.

Of course, if this seems like overkill, the Attack Ploy can be used for Resistance Ploy for more damage, as well as a +Attack IV.

A rather budget set for Lucius that gives him more bulk via 47 HP, preventing any "slow and bulky" units from one-shot killing him (such as Hector or Black Knight, while giving him a dedicated counter to specific threats. If you would like to emphasize on Pain+'s effect, his seal slot can be used for Savage Blow.

Swordbreaker and Bowbreaker depend on what type of enemy you'd like to counter. The former due to carrying most of the really fast units of the game, the latter for Bow Lyn.

Threaten Attack is chosen as his C slot for even more safety against melees, but any other C slot can be taken.

Introduction

Pros:

  • Very traditional priest statline
  • One of the highest resistances in the game
  • Basically an unmounted Elise

Cons:

  • Similar to Elise, Lucius will be one-shotted by physical units in the Arena

Lucius, the Light, is a priest with a fantastic resistance stat, nice speed, and good attack, with the downside of being absolutely frail against physical attacks. Just like Elise.

He is absolutely suited to handling the mages of the game, and if further increased they won't be doing much damage to him. His attack stat is also good enough to deal a good amount of damage back, and if built specifically for such match-ups, he can even win them all by hismelf.

Just like his mounted-princess version, Lucius has no tolerance whatsoever to withstand physical hits, and if not equipped with the Dazzling Staff, Distant Counter units can easily kill him.

Overall, Lucius can be seen as a higher-BST Elise with lower speed and more resistance. His base kit isn't ideal, but it can still work. If using offensive healers (who happens to be a trap) with good attack, nice speed, and a beter scoring potential than mounted healers is your thing, then Lucius may be for you!

Strengths
  • Nice offensive spread

    • If focused on, Lucius's speed can reach a pretty high value, allowing him to follow-up more enemies than usual, as well as preventing follow-ups from speedy mages.
    • With 32 base attack, Lucius can deal a good chunk of damage to low-resistance enemies, or finish off ones who are slightly damaged.
  • Very high resistance

    • Sitting at 35 base resistance, a mage will need 72 attack to one-shot him, a number you can assume no normal mage can reach.
    • If hit by a follow-up, the mage attacking him will instead need 54 attack to kill him, which can still be quite difficult.
  • Great healing potency

    • With such a nice attack stat, a single Recover+ from Lucius (with Pain+) will heal for 31 HP, which is more or less a third of your average hero's HP.
    • With his base healing staff, Martyr+, heals done at full health will heal for 21 HP, which is still very nice!
Weaknesses
  • Terrible physical bulk and soak
    • With the lowest defense stat in the game of 13 points, Lucius's enemies will need 50 physical attack to one-shot him.
    • If by some misfortune he's followed up, the enemy will instead require 32 attack, which deserves no comment.
Team Options

Lucius's teammates aren't really dependent on him, but rather his build.

  • If Gravity+ is used, a Dancer or an ally with a positioning assist is recommended.

  • If Pain+ is used, units with Hardy Bearing or extremely aggressive player phase units are highly recommended. Or Dancers, if Savage Blow is being used with Pain+.

  • If Slow+ is used, Desperation teams or units who rely on follow-ups must be used to take advantage of it. This staff also grants your whole team +7 Speed (kind of), allowing slower units to prevent follow-ups.

Counters

It is safe to assume that almost no mage can ever hope of killing Lucius. On the other hand, one look from Raven and you can bet your heart that Lucius's is falling.
