Boons
-
+ATK: It is preferable to increase her attack stat to 40 for further oneshot capabilities.
-
+RES: This gives Lilina the ability to take a beating from dragons and other magical attacks.
Neutral
-
SPD: This can go either way- you can go for a bane on this for a Quick Riposte/Iceberg set, and since it’s a superboon you can try to salvage it at 29 speed, but otherwise leave it alone.
-
HP: This should also be neutral- Lilina doesn’t have a high HP stat at 35 and may have difficulty taking blows with a bane, particularly with her low speed.
Banes
- -DEF: Her Defense should only be considered if you’re going for a Raven build- and there are definitely better units than Lilina to focus on for that.

With a massive attack stat to her name, Lilina is one of the best units to run a oneshot build, which can now be achieved either through Rauðrblade or her legendary tome, Forblaze. Forblaze adds what is essentially +13 damage to her attacks, provided that she is attacking the opponent that is currently under the effect of her tome's built-in Chill Res. This means that she does 14 more damage than an unbuffed Rauðrblade, without the drawback of increasing her special cooldown. A Lilina with Rauðrblade can outdamage a Forblaze Lilina with a +6 Attack buff from a Tactic skill and a +3 or better buff to another stat, or a +4 Attack buff, a +4 buff and a +3 buff or better. This means that the cap of damage is higher on Rauðrblade, but it requires one or more buffing partners, more careful positioning, and still comes with the demerit of increasing her special charge. Conversely, Forblaze loses 7 damage if not attacking her Chill Res target, but still comes with an added Death Blow and higher mt.
No matter which weapon you use on her, the rest of her build would still look very similar.
An offensive Lilina can be built one of two ways- you can make an attempt to salvage her speed with a superboon, Life and Death, Speed Seal, and an ally with Hone Speed to get her up to 41. This will allow her to double slower units, while Swordbreaker can help her double the speedier Arena threats. Through this, Lilina can apply her devastating Attack stat twice, though it makes her exceptionally frail and you’d want to be careful when putting her in any situation that may cause her to take damage.
A more conventional offensive build focuses solely on pumping up her Attack to strike only once and puts all the resources available into ensuring that the single blow is a KO. This is done through a +ATK boon, Death Blow, an Attack seal, and weaponizing her Resistance via Res Ploy or utilizing Forblaze's Chill Res. Through this, Lilina can typically use her 31 RES to debuff her target before attacking them with a base 62 unbuffed attack with Rauðrblade, 69 with Forblaze. Her damage can be increased exponentially through buffing, until she reaches her cap of 82 damage with Rauðrblade, 73 with Forblaze (assuming all stats have +4 buffs).
This is also why Draconic Aura is preferred over Iceberg. They begin on roughly equal additional damage, but the more Lilina’s Attack scales with her buffs, the more damage Draconic Aura does. Iceberg or Glacies should only be chosen if you run a +RES Lilina for additional tanking or utilizing Ploy skills.
Her B slot is more flexible. One can never go wrong with Quick Riposte in order to utilize her more effectively in the Enemy Phase, but for a more offensive Lilina, a Breaker skill is more advantageous. R Tomebreaker comes with the advantage of shutting down Winter Tharja’s Vengeful Fighter, though Swordbreaker has more practical application in dealing with more DC units, such as Ayra or Ryoma. Be careful when relying on Swordbreaker though- it only takes 51 neutral attack to oneshot a -Def or -HP Lilina on counterattack.
A Lilina running Forblaze likely does not need to concern herself with running Res Ploy, which frees up her C slot to buff her team or support them via Ploy debuffing the enemy units. With Rauðrblade, she may want to consider Res Ploy, as it will further add to the amount of damage she can do.

Lilina’s potential 34 Res stat shows up in a big way with this set, which functions entirely during the Enemy Phase. She should ideally be used as a bait unit next to an ally, somewhere where you can set up her Ploys to debuff the enemy before attacking her. Thanks to Atk Res Bond, Candelabra’s effect and forge, and Distant Defense, Lilina can reach a potential of 50 Resistance with which to tank two attacks with and retaliate with an effective 56 attack, plus a +25 damage Iceberg proc on the second attack. This should be enough to wipe any magic user off the map.
If dragons are giving you trouble, Lilina can eliminate them in Enemy Phase easily with Close Counter. Myrrh in particular cannot even scratch Lilina- and while Lilina can’t double her in turn due to her low defenses, she has the potential to burst the green dragon down faster than most other non-Falchion units.
As always, be careful of physical attackers with this build- Lilina is heavily stacked toward tanking magic, but a single arrow from a 51 Attack archer can bring her to her knees.
Introduction
While at one point she was considered a red pool pitybreaker, Lilina's Forblaze upgrade and refinement makes her damage anything but pitiful. Packing a built-in Chill Resistance alongside a Death Blow, her already-good Attack stat is vaulted even higher with an effective +13 damage when attacking the opponent under the effect of Chill Res.
Lilina sports high Attack to supplement her oneshot potential with, decent Resistance, and- not much else of note. Her Speed, though a superboon, is relatively poor, and her Defense and HP are both very low. Prior to her upgrade, she’s was typically run with a Blade tome in an attempt to one-shot low RES targets, and with the introduction of the Ploy skills, she can do serviceably well at debuffing the enemy team along the way.
Strengths
High Attack
Lilina has the highest Attack of any mage in the game at 37, tying her with Sanaki.
This allows her to run one-shot builds where she can focus on increasing her Attack exponentially to kill her opponent in a single blow.
Her Forblaze upgrade and refinement factor into this perfectly, allowing her an impressive oneshot potential.
Good Resistance
Her Resistance is decent at 31, allowing her some magic tanking ability.
This allows her to Ploy many other units in the game, particularly if her Resistance is invested in.
Weaknesses
Low Speed
What really hurts Lilina is her accompanying low Speed. At 25, she won’t be able to double effectively, and she’s likely to be doubled by many other units.
This means that she has to either focus on increasing her Speed through a superboon or try to one-shot opponents. If Lilina cannot oneshot an enemy with her high Attack, she’s likely to die from a counterattack.
Conversely, low Speed can work well in a Quick Riposte build- though this would only be efficient at dueling other mages.
Low Defense
While low Defense normally wouldn’t be a con for mages, having 19 Defense cripples Lilina’s ability to run a Raven tome build, which would otherwise synergize with her low speed and high attack.
Her Defense is just high enough that it drains her other stats- 5 more invested in Speed and 5 less in Defense could make her far more formidable- but it is not high enough that it allows her to utilize it effectively vs physical units.
Team Options
Counters
Lilina is vulnerable when attacked due to her low Speed, and the magnitude of fantastic blue mages in the game keeps her threatened and under pressure.
- Delthea makes another appearance, alongside Reinhardt, Summer Corrin, and Lute, are all blue magic units that can resist Lilina’s powerful attacks and wipe her from the map.
- Fjorm, Camus, Fallen Hardin, and other blue melee units who commonly counterattack at range are threats to Lilina, as she typically cannot safely attack into them.
- Tharja, Y!Tiki, and Ryoma are all same-color units capable of countering Lilina with higher Speed than her and care should be taken to ensure she can one-shot them.

Lilina vs WE! Tharja - A Comparative Analysis: The rise of PP Nuker Mages
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Introduction: The purpose of this Analysis is to compare these 2 mages to bring out points on why, following the Tier Listing criteria, Lilina is worthy of being promoted to T1 and to debunk some common misconceptions on the overrated potential of WE!Tharja without Armor Support.
- I will be using a list of Tier 1 Units with gamepreess' builds most suited in terms of popularity and viability in order to duel against red mages. (Red, Green and Colorless) (Here's the list if you want to check out the builds: https://pastebin.com/raw/PWwJ38tL)
* Stats – How strong is the unit’s spread of stats for their given role?
Lilinas role is a nuker, the job of a nuker is to kill the enemy unit on the PP with the least amount of hits possible.
Her stats complement this role perfectly_
+37 ATK - She is the mage with the best ATK value in the game, tied with Sanaki. This is her main stat, which allows her to reach obscene levels of damage on enemy units.
+25 SPD - This might seem slow, but it's not a bad stat for her. With a +spd nature (29 spd), she can increase her flexibility to run different builds like Windsweep or Life and Death in order to get free damage or increase survivability. Even without the +spd nature, 25 is enough to ensure. kills against the few extremely bulky and slow armor units that she fails to one shot kill. (H!Jakob, WE!Tharja and W!Chrom)
+31 RES - Enough Res stat to make use of ploys reliably, duel against mages and dragons if needed or build an enemy phase build to soak magic hits.
+35 HP and 19 DEF - At first glance these stats may seem low, but they're "just enough" to survive some crucial matchups. The closest comparison is sanaki, with 33hp 17def. When using their recommended IV set, +Atk -Def, Lilina is able to survive matchups that sanaki can't in W!Chrom, H!Jakob, L! Ike, W!Lissa. (Sanaki: https://i.imgur.com/cGUC3gA.png) (Lilina: https://i.imgur.com/7lw4zIT.png)
In WE!Tharja's case, since Vengeful and Bold Fighter are busted, she can dump speed completely and focus her stats into other aspects.
+34 ATK - This value is good for an offensive red mage, specially when you can double thanks to bold fighter, however, it's nothing to brag about when your main competition is Sanaki (37 +5 from prf), Lilina ( 37 + 6 from prf), Celica (33 + 5 from prf), etc. In order to get a better Atk she needs heavy team support.
+18 SPD - When you're that slow, speed doesn't really matter. Bold and Vengeful fighter patches up this stat in most cases, however, the low speed hinders her ability to prevent doubles, losing a lot of survivability and losing some matchups if you're B slot is not the correct one.
+43 HP, 34 DEF, 36 RES - Bulk is Tharja's greatest strength when comparing her to other red mages. No other red mage can reach something similar and her best comparison is in Adult Tiki as a unit who is a tank that can retaliate with magical damage. I will make this comparison again on a different segment.
* Matchups – How well does the unit fare against some of the most common units in the arena?
Welcome to simulator land, a place where people decide how "good" a unit is just by running calcs. I don't believe that a duel simulator is the best way to rank a unit, since we're not taking positioning (among other factors like buffs/debuffs/support) into account. (Unit vs All Tier 1 units that are targets (Color advantage or neutrality)
Despite what i just said, Lilina also excells in this category as a Player Phase nuker that can ORKO her designated targets, even without swordbreaker 3 equipped.
I'll analyze her in 3 different sections: +0 vs +0, +0 vs +5 and +10 vs +10, once without debuffs and another time applying Foreblaze's Chill Res effect.
* +0 vs +0: 24 Wins - 1 Inconclusive (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359212284156…)
Even without swordbreaker, the only unit that escapes the ORKO is Sigurd, who has a weapon and exclusive skill that reduces 50% and 80% magical damage on each hit.
* +0 vs +0 (Forblaze +eff): 25 Wins. (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359212891909…)
With swordbreaker and forblaze's chill Res, Sigurd got BBQ'd (again).
*+0 vs +5: 23 Wins - 3 Losses - 1 Inconclusive (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359212386496…)
With the merge disadvantage, Lilina loses the kill and get's KO'd in return vs Black knight, Zelgius and Warding Breath Distant Def Ike. Also fails to kill Sigurd
*+0 vs +5 (Forblaze +eff) 24 Wins - 1 Inconclusive (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359212968331…)
With the effect of her personal weapon, she is able to ensure the kills she barely missed the OHKO before, except for Sigurd.
*+10 vs +10: 24 Wins - 1 Inconclusive (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359212469583…)
She is able to destroy all of her targets except for Sigurd, who barely survives.
*+10 vs +10 (Forblaze +eff): 24 Wins - 1 Inconclusive (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359213027427…)
Sigurd manages to survive.
Applying the same list to WE!Tharja's most optimal set (according to GPress'; optimal set is bladetome bold fighter at the time of writing)
*+0 vs +0: 20 Wins - 2 Loss - 3 Inconclusive. (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359212559383…)
She misses kills on Hector, Sigurd and Myrrh, and loses to LA!Hector and Ayra.
*+0 vs +5: 20 Wins - 2 Loss - 3 Inconclusive. (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359212628550…)
Nothing changes, still missing kills on Sigurd, Myrrh, Hecto and still loses to LA!Hector and Ayra.
*+10 vs +10: 21 Wins - 1 Loss - 3 Inconclusive. (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359212700857…)
Manages to improve her results by being able to tank Ayra's Wrath RA and 2hit KO her with Bold fighter
Unfortunately, we still have more. We have to consider their matchups giving the units buffs because of the nature of Tharja's Bladetome.
Giving Lilina a Hone Atk in these categories:
*+0 vs +0: 25W - 1I https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359213169656…
*+0 vs +5: 24W - 1I https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359213245279…
*+10 vs +10: 24W - 1I https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359213329711…
Giving Tharja +4 atk and +4 def in these categories:
*+0 vs +0: 24W - 1I https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359213403490…
*+0 vs +5:24W - 1I https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359213448324…
*+10 vs +10: 24W - II https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/434797545202647060/4359213539342…
As you can see, even considering the bladetome buffs, Lilina performs better or equal to her with 2 Hones/Fortifies.
Well, we've gotten past Simulator Land, and even in this weird place Lilina outclasses WE!Tharja without her weapon effect in all categories except for +0 vs +5 where there is a net difference of 1 more kill for tharja.
* Dependency – How well can the unit perform without the support of other teammates?
Lilina is a self-sufficient nuke. She is able to complete her role without any kind of team support, what is more, due to her flexibility in skills she is able to support her teammates, specially when they are blue or green dragons because of Forblaze's effect. With that Chill Res and a Blue/Green Dragon teammate she is able to cover all her weaknesses and her teammates' with just 1 ally, putting in a tremendous amount of work on every team matchup.
Tharja lacks mobility if she lacks Armor support, so she needs teammates to help out her mobility. Her "optimal" set, and the set which we are comparing directly to Lilina is a bladetome set, who exclusively relies on team support to get it's effect to activate.
* Comparative strength – Where does the unit place amongst other units within their given role.
I have been comparing these 2 units for all the duration of this document, to summarize things, Lilina has good matchups vs her targets, she has the best atk stat of all red mages. WE Tharja is the only armor red mage, is the mage with the worse mobility, is the mage with best defenses and her matchups are good overall. As a Bold Fighter ranged unit she performs worse than H!Jakob.
* Sacred Seals – How much does the unit have to gain from particular Sacred Seals? How effective is the unit in their ideal role with the benefits of the Seal?
I don't consider this category necessary, so here i'll discuss unit builds and flexibility.
Lilina's stat spread and exclusive weapon allows her to have a free B / Seal slot. This creates immense flexibility and different builds, that is able to patch up any weakness in your team and perform at it's best.
Options on the B slot could be Swordbreaker, Windsweep, Watersweep, Quick Riposte, Red Tomebreaker, Wings of Mercy, and a long etcetera. Seriously, pick your poison.
Aside from her standard death blow set, she can run other very dangerous sets, like the infantry pulse instant nuke set.
This set, even if it depends on iPulse support, is extremely reliable and devastating. Having an AoE special from turn 1 ready (LnD is necessary) you can reduce the entire enemy team's hp to 1 while killing a unit. DO NOT SLEEP ON AoE SKILLS.
Res tank build - If needed, she can fit this role for your team. It's less effective than Sanaki's Res tank build but it's way more independent. Res refining Forblaze you increase your bulk while retaining the dmg output via Forblaze's Chill Res.
She can also use other tomes like Bladetome, Candelabra, etc.
Winter Tharja has 2 main sets. Both of them rely on specific skills. She has, what i call, 4 skill-slot syndrome (Term adapted from pokemon's 4 move-slot syndrome). Her sets are borderline carved in stone due to a necessary B slot.
Bladetome Requires Death Blow and Bold fighter to increase damage output and ensure double attacks. It also limits her ability to proc specials when she's not getting retaliated due to Raudrblade's +1cd penalty, this makes her miss some kills.
Candelabra EP Tank, this is her most dangerous set [in my opinion]. She combines Close Counter with Vengeful fighter to be a real nuisance on the EP. Said that, without armor support she's a A!Tiki with less speed, attack and mobility. She trades close counter for the Breath Skill that Tiki uses. Both have extremely similar stats, Tiki boasting a higher Atk, Spd and Mobility, while tharja has more Res.
(Slight reminder to readers that Effie recently got promoted from T2 to T1, one of the main factor being flexibility of build.)
* Boons, Banes and Merges – Is a unit hindered by limited merges, or their inability to run a specific boon/bane? This criteria is of comparatively less significance than base stats or matchups.
Both units have Natures and Merges.
Lilina is 3 and 4 star rarity, always avaliable and easier to get (I know it's not a factor)
She can benefit from almost all of her Natures, and the only real harmful one is -atk. You can choose between dumping hp, def or speed, depending on what you need.
WE!Tharja is 5 star exclusive and seasonal. If you didn't get her last christmas, you'll have to wait to get her.
The only good bane for Tharja is spd, if she doesnt get this IV she will be hindered.
TL;DR; Lilina has flexible stats and builds, excels in her role as a PP Nuker, is extremely reliable and has superb matchups against the most threatening Tier 1 units. She can fix any hole in her team and can fit perfectly with Green and Blue dragons to make up for her misses, making the most out of her. She is more than worthy of a Tier 1 placement.
WE!Tharja needs team support due to her lack of mobility and due to the nature of bladetomes, her "optimal"; set. She has good matchups across T1 (not as good as Lilina's). Her sets are restrictive and lack flexibility in order to fit a team.
**BONUS MEME: MICAIAH**
Micaiah has the same role as Lilina in a PP Nuke. I have done some calcs in the +0 vs +0 range against Blue, Red and Colorless Foes.
*+0 VS +0: 19 Wins - 3 Losses (https://imgur.com/XFrvHlc.png)
She misses to kill Nowi, DC Max Res Ephraim and F!Corrin.
Micaiah can't provide team support on the same level of flexibility that Lilina can, but her unique sacrifice skill gives her a niche. She also has good speed and res, for tanking and ploy potential.
Another bonus that units like Lilina and Micaiah have is that they are able to do immense amounts of damage even on color disadvantage, which allows to finish off a foe or to get free damage with a sweep set.
